I read the reviews for this flat beater and I personally never had any of these issues. I had my bowl-lift mixer for years now and i still have the original beater and it works wonderful it gets to the bottom of the bowl and is great at getting all the ingredients mixed together and is great with the Thickest of cookie doughs . I hand wash the beater with mild dish detergent and it still look like when I got it.

I have had three Kitchen Aide mixers. I upgraded to the professional 600 model, which works fine. I do not understand why your more expensive and heavy duty mixer does not come with dishwasher safe beaters and dough hooks however. I washed mine and they immediately discolored. Given that the accessories for the 41/2 quart model are all dishwasher safe, this seems like a clear design flaw.

Beater color is coming off!

By

from New York

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

I have a beautiful mixer that I can't use because I've been through two beaters and first there was metal shavings coming off in my cookies now the gray coloring is coming off onto all my food. what am I supposed to do now with a mixer I spent hundreds of dollars on without a beater attachment?

Having the same problem as others

By

from Bothell, WA

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

The Flat Beater and the Dough Hook are transferring gray oxidation into foods. How am I supposed to fix this? Super disappointed that Kitchenaid didn't figure this out. This is a very expensive piece of equipment to be doing this.

flat beater K5ss

By

from Mankato MN

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

I love the machine! I have had it for 30 years. I use/d it a lot, especially when I was catering wedding cakes. The flat beater has always been a problem. Quite a bit of the white coating has come off, and quite frankly I don't know where it has ended up. My cakes?
I now read the reviews of the other people that have bought new flat beaters and their problems.
Why NOT make a stainless steel beater??? People will pay for a good product! You have a good machine.

So Disappointed

By

from Ontario, Canada

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

I am so disappointed in my Kitchen Aid. I received it as a gift, brand new. I've been using it happily for a short time, and all my dough is turning grey. The hook and beater are doing the same thing. Frustrated, I stopped using it for a while. I finally decided to come online to see if I could order replacement parts, and see that there are many others that have the same issue! Now what am I supposed to do? Tell my parents I have a beautiful Kitchen Aid that I can't use!! So disappointed.

Color transfer

By

from Kernersville NC

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

I bought the Kitchenaid Artisan Mixer as a gift for myself. I was very happy with it, until I noticed some grayish color bleeding off the beaters and dough hooks. I handwash these attachments and maybe used the mixer 3 times since I bought it. It is very frustrating since this mixer is not cheap. . Do they offer free replacements?

It Won't go in!

By

from Los Angeles

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

I finally opened and used the kitchenaid that I bought over a year ago. I loved the results but am quite disappointed at the flat beater attachment. After a single use, the attachment just won't go in! I can't seem to figure out the issue and am afraid to use any force on it. I tried warm soapy water with no luck, not completely surprised as it was literally used once. Giving this attachment two stars, mainly because it did its job and mixed pretty well. Aside from that, I'm completely disappointed!!!

Bowl-lift burnished flat beater

By

from McCammon,Idaho

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

I don't dare use the flat beater any more because of the gray color that has transferred off of the beater on to my cookie dough. Very disappointed with this considering the amount of money this mixer cost. To include such cheap attachments is very disappointing.

Cheap parts

By

from New York

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

I bake frequently and have older models of kitchenaid mixers. Ironically the oldest is 33 years old and pure like a kitten with all original parts. Even though it's smaller it has a durable good kraftsmanship beater. I decided to buy the newer larger model and was immediately weary of the light attachments with it's odd color finish. After one use I began to notice the paint transfer into my dough. I threw out a few batches before I finally just threw out the beater, I tossed the dough hook too. The new kitchen aid mixers can't hold a match to the older ones with better quality parts. Also the mixer is horrifically noisey. Considering in investing in a European brand mixer.

Disgusting Residue Straight out of Box

By

from Brooklyn, NY

Comments about KitchenAid Burnished Flat Beater:

I recently purchased this stand mixer (Professional 600 Bowl Lift Series) as a graduation gift to myself. First and foremost, the stand mixer was greasy, (I don't know if that is normal) when I pulled the lever down to let the bowl down, there was this big log of yellow grease between where it goes up and down (again, I don't know if this is normal. Now what really bothered me is the whip, power knead, and flat beater. Unboxing, none of those tools were shiny, it was already "oxidized" and disgusting gray residue was being left only hand, I did not get a chance to use my mixer yet because I just received it in the mail today. I will not use my mixer with these tools because I am very afraid that it may get into my mixes as it does my hand. This seems very unsanitary and it is just not tolerable AT ALL.
