Dropped some chili on a comforter. Sprayed the stain with Spray'n Wash and popped it in the machine. 90 minutes later and the stain was stil there. Also didn't remove makeup stains and ink stains on a nightgown. I wish I would have just fixed my old Whirlpool washer instead of buying this new HE model. Bring back the large agitator and more water. Sometimes progress and new gadgets aren't as good as an old fashion washer.

Good washer with one fatal flaw
from Houston, TX
Comments about Whirlpool Cabrio WTW7800XW White Top Loading Washer:
I bought the top loader because I wanted to be able to stop and add something at the last minute. And the glass lid allowed me to see what was going on. This worked great for a while, until the plastic at the base of the lid started cracking. Now I'm stuck with a regular top loader where I can't see in.Pros: You can wash extremely large loads.Cons: Glass lid eventually breaks. Doesn't clean that well on delicate cycle

We've had this washer for a couople of years. The lid cracked almost immediately. It so bad now we must decide if we want to spend almost 300.00 to have the lid replaced or just replace the washer. Also washer leaves residue on clothes, have to use extra rinse cycle FREQUENTLY.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Faulty Design - Lid Broke Twice
from Indianapolis, IN
I loved my brand new Cabrio until the lid broke on it after 3 years of ownership. Of course it was out of warranty by then, so the repair cost half as much as a new washer. It broke again less than 6 months later! Both times the glass started to pop out at the back of the lid, and the plastic cracked at the hinges. I thought it was a freak thing the first time, then I saw the same complaints from other customers, over and over again all over the Internet. DO NOT BUY THIS WASHER--FAULTY DESIGN.
Didn't last more than 4 years
This washer is great- for the short period of time it works. I had it 4 years- cleaned great, efficient, no complaints. At the 4 year mark, it started making a noise during the spin cycle that sounded like a jet engine. the machine still worked and cleaned great. One day, I noticed a circular splatter of grease under the washer- which to me signaled it's final demise. Since it is out of warrantee and repairs cost so much, we opted to replace, and I did not go with Whirlpool

This is the worst washer I have ever used! It doesn't get clothes very clean and it has a defective lid. The lid broke on the sides, causing it to not close/latch properly..therefore making it impossible to do a load of laundry, unless you place dumbbells on top of it to hold it down (like we have been doing) or you replace the lid for $200. This is a big problem for this model (just google it and you'll find plenty of pics and complaints of the same issue), however whirlpool refuses to recall the lid or offer a free replacement for it. I will. NEVER buy a whirlpool appliance again!! If a company doesn't stand by their product, it's probably not a very good product!

Whirlpool Cabrio Top Load Washer
from Cleveland, TN, United States
This is the first brand new washer we have purchased and we have been married for 33 years. We absolutely love it! It pretty much thinks for itself and turns out sparkling clean clothes. Love the delicate cycle and energy saver with the water. Best ever!!!

Bearing went after three years
from Philadelphia, PA, United States
The washer works well but about six months ago the spin started to get loud. Last month I noticed oil spray on the floor. I did some searching online and found that the bearing and drive shaft needs to be replaced, which will cost more than a new washing machine. The are a lot of complaints about the seals going bad on the cabio washers. Now just past four years I need to by another washer.

Easy to use
from Cleveland, OH, United States
This is a very good washer for small to medium size loads. I bought this large tub washer to accommodate quilts and bedspreads. It did not perform as well as expected with large items being mangled and twisted. I'm having it serviced tomorrow and I hope it will perform better afterwards. I'm optimistic

LID HAS BROKEN TWICE NOW!
from Denver, NC, United States
Have owned this washing machine for 4 years now. Although it cleans the clothes well, the lid has now broken for the second time. The first was replaced under warranty but my extended warranty just ran out 2 months ago and it has broken again. The lid alone is VERY expensive let alone having a service call and repair costs. I see I am not alone with this issue, as others have reported the same thing. I have been excessively cautious with it since it broke in the first year, but the VERY poor design makes it vulnerable to ongoing stress and it seems it will inevitably continue to break. The hinges on the lid are made of cheap plastic and all the weight of the glass lid falls on this poorly constructed hinge.
Less than 2 years and the bearing is going out. Cost too much to fix so we are buying a new different brand replacement.
