This is a great dryer. The ability to change settings is great. The dryer tub is very large and holds a full load of jeans with no drying problems. Most of my heavier loads are dry in 50-60 minutes. The ability to select dryer time and the loudness of the timer is a plus. The dryer is quiet and until you hear the timer you hardly know it is running. However, their are a few small design issues that I do not care for. The dryer lint vent leaves lint on the door every time it is pulled out, so the door needs to be wiped clean between loads and the lint trap is hard to clean. The door clip is on the top middle of the opening and clothes catch on it as they are loaded into the dryer. The door opens down which makes it hard to unload clothes into a basket. With limited space the drop down door leaves no room to move around it. It is great if you are folding the clothes right from the dryer. I am just wondering how long till the door wears out from the weight of holding the clothes.

This dryer is just okay. I know it is supposed to prevent overdrying, however most times I have to run a dry cycle twice to get my laundry completely dry. I do not overload it. Today's example: I shouldn't have to run 2 dry cycles to completely dry 2 towels and a blanket.

Comments about Whirlpool Cabrio WED5550XW White Electric Dryer:
This is a good dryer, but would not recommend. Door latch is hard to close, and most of the time I have to slam the door shut. Also, auto dry does not dry clothes completely so I have to dry on high for another 10 minutes. Good dryer for the price.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

My Whirlpool drier has everything I wanted. It has a variety of settings without being confusing. It is efficient and reliable, yet the price was very reasonable.

Dryer does a great job
from Parma, ID, United States
The dryer does a great job. So happy that we have it in our home.
My arthritic hands are not happy.
I am disappointed in this dryer. My main complaint is the amount of button-pushing that I have to do. If I dry mixed loads, the sensor dryer doesn't do a good job, so I often use the timed cycle. I have to push the button (and I do mean push) once for each minute up or down! And before starting the next load, I must power it off and power it on if it hasn't totally finished including the wrinkle shield. More button pushing.
Drys in record time

Drys even large loads in one cycle, offers a wealth of drying options

It dries well, has plenty of features and seems to be pretty energy efficient.
I find the start-up and cycle end tones obnoxious. The door vibrates when the dryer is running (excess noise). It makes it sound cheep.

It would take hours for my clothes/towels to get dry in my old dryer. Now, it only takes a fraction of the time and clothes arent' wrinkled.

A great buy! We have had energy savings and dramatically shorter cycle times.
Doesn't get clothes dry first time
from Rathdrum, ID
When we first got this dryer I liked it because it was so much faster than our old one, but it does not always get clothes dry. Except for synthetic fabrics, most things do not get dry unless you set the dryer on the More Dry setting. I don't know about most people, but if I set the dryer to the normal dry setting, I actually expect the clothes to be dry, not still damp. Towels usually take at least two sessions before they actually get dry. I also hate the little tune that plays every time you turn the dryer off and on, especially if people are asleep when I'm using it. The sensor doesn't seem very good, since if you start a partially dried load, the indicator light says the clothes are wet.
