Spacious & Stylish With Great Features!

We replaced a 20+ year old top freezer fridge and were looking for a change. In May, we purchased this side-by-side in black, which is very sleek and stylish looking (I think stainless is a fad and a bit high maintainance). I like the taller height of the doors so that you don't see the hinges. I wish the front were textured instead of the smooth finish, as I think it will eventually scratch. The fridge side is very spacious, and the spill proof shelves have already been put to the test. The butter keeper is huge. It holds my two cut crystal butter dishes, and two plastic tubs of butter. The water filter is conveniently located above the top shelf; no crawling on my knees to replace one on the floor level. The lighting is awesome! I love a well lit interior. The adjustable door shelving is very adequate; I love the larger shelf in the door my milk and juices; very handy. The freezer side is also very well lit and has ample space. I was hesitant about the glass shelves in the freezer, as I was used to wire shelves, but I really like the glass shelves. It could really use one more shelf. I like the ice container in the door; it is very easy to remove when needed. The ice maker is a little bit noisy and a tad slow, but I have become accustomed to it now. I love the bright blue lighting on the exterior. The ice maker and water dispenser are great. The grandkids love the crushed ice feature. I love this Whirlpool refrigerator!

This fridge came with my new home seven months ago. If I had a choice I would not choose this fridge. Yes, this is a stylish looking appliance that would be good for a family with one or two people, but this fridge is not good for a family with older kids where you need more room for cold items. The icemaker also is lacking. I had a family gathering and ran out of ice before we got started good. I could not be fully replenished until the next day. The icemaker is also very loud.

We haven't had it very long and usually with major appliances it's whether they hold up for the long haul. Initially it seems like a good fridge. You can hear ice being made, but this noise doesn't bother us and it's not making ice at all times. The bright lights are nice and the temperature is great.

I bought TWO of this EXTREMELY EXPENSIVE appliance on August 2012, and after a month, it started dripping from the top level, the ice maker. The technician has came four times to check them and to install two kits that were supposed to resolve the issue, but nothing yet; they are still leaking constantly. I do not want this refrigerator, it is the worst appliance I have bought so far. I thought Whirlpool was a good brand, and the GOLD SERIES its top of the line, but I am very disappointed.
