I wanted a no frills, just get the job done refrigerator, and I am so happy with the GE Artistry fridge. It has that vintage vibe that I love, and does an excellent job keeping my food fresh. I especially like the freezer portion on the bottom, and all the storage space on the inside of the door.

The refrigerator part of this fridge/freezer combo is great. Plenty of space, adjustable shelving, and boy does it keep food cold! In fact, I have had to adjust the temperature up several times to make sure my food does not freeze in the refrigerator. I love all of the space on the door - the gallon-sized bins on the door keep virtually all of my condiments, milk, tea, and juice easily accessible, and they are adjustable as well to make room for wine and soda bottles. My fruits and veggies stay fresh longer in the bins than they used to in my old refrigerator. The finish is typical of other stainless products - you need to keep a stainless steel cleaner handy for fingerprints but that should not be a surprise. Now, the bad part! The freezer is TERRIBLE! Unfortunately, I did not actually see this model refrigerator before I bought it. I am used to a top freezer, and I guess I made the assumption that the bottom freezer would be the same as a top freezer, just on the bottom. Not the case. This model has a wire basket that is only about half as tall as the freezer to put the food in and it makes the freezer about half as functional as it would be if it were like a top freezer. Every time I buy frozen food I have to rearrange the freezer - and I mean, take almost everything out, reorganize, and put it back in again. And if the food is not in a box - for example, I freeze chicken breasts in baggies - the spaces between the wires in the basket are so large that sometimes things fall through! And we don't buy that much frozen food! It's not like I'm hoarding meat and boxed lasagnas! We are a family of 3! Overall, this fridge is 1000x better than what I traded in, and it matches the rest of my awesome GE appliances. However, I am saddened at the freezer situation, but will deal with it by buying less frozen food. Shame on me for not making sure to SEE what I was buying before I bought it!

Comments about GE CleanSteel Bottom Freezer Refrigerator:
I had a GE Refrigerator for over 20 years and never had a problem with it. I bought a refrigerator with the bottom freezer and I really like it because you don't have to bend down when you want to get something out of the refrigerator. It is a lot quieter than my old one.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I love the styling and the functionality and it fits perfectly in my old house
Terrible freezer area design
By P Richard
Overall a fridge is a fridge. The refrigerator area is fine - plenty of shelf space and plenty of door shelf space. The freezer compartment however us poorly designed. Simply one big compartment where items must be piled on top of each other. Can never find what you are looking for and things end up a mess. No organization possible.

Purchased this item largely for the retro look to place in a vintage kitchen. Dealers didn't have the units on display and had to buy sight unseen. Half of the seals for the doors wouldn't seal until stretched by hand several times. Shelf spacing doesn't work well with what I consider oversized vegetable bins. Freezer door has no shelving on the door. Seems to run a lot and have seen no drop in the electricity bill related to the replacement of a 70's vintage unit.
Love the retro look!

Not only is it functional, it has a great retro look. Love the GE Badge!
Very Spacious Inside!

Needed to replace an old refrig/freezer that no longer held temperature. This was the perfect size for the space we had.
Love design and style
Having problem with upper rubber freezer seal, accumulating water/condensation from somewhere and running down on my wood floor, if I don't catch it in time. Also bottom freezer should have a bar across the inside door, so to have more freezer space in door. The way it is, it is wasted space. Love the design and style, but they just don't make them as good as they use to.
We were looking for a fridge with the 1960's look. The fridge not only gave the look we were searching for but the space and features are excellent.
I love the style!

It is smaller than we are used to, so I am glad we have a 2nd refrigerator. We originally had problems with the door seals because we had the doors open on the opposite side. We do have a problem with food freezing in the back of the refrig though.

Love this Fridge! Retro, but modern. So much room for all of our junk!
