Great multipurpose reciever
from Livonia, Michigan
About Me Audiophile
Comments about Yamaha AVENTAGE Series 7.2 Channel Black AV Home Theater Receiver:
This reciever is the heart of my system. I have had the reciever for a year and I am basically using it as a pre-amp so all the amplification is done outboard with Yamaha amps of course. It is so easy to use the only draw back is that the FM is to sensitive and cannot recieve all stations even with a good antenna. Has hook ups for just about anything you want to put through it.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I love this receiver, better sound than Denon, Onkyo or Pioneer Elite. I have owned them all and this has truly natural sound. It gives you all the nuanced sounds of the Denon, but with a more natural sound, not so processed as the Denon and at all levels of volume. Center speaker dialogue is clear and loud without turning the volume up. Music and surroung sound are equally beautiful to listen to. Yamaha A800 truly creates a natural great sound you'll fall in love with it.

Unbelievably packed with features
from Piedmont, North Carolina
It is the system for our daily TV, youTube, Pandora, iPhone (dock), gaming, Apple TV Airplay, Blu-Ray, Netflix. We've never needed a sound level above what it can cleanly put out to our B&W 5.1 setup. 95+ watts each is plenty. In over a year, nothing has malfunctioned or gone wrong. I am really amazed that we are counting on this for so much of our life entertainment when we are at home. With other mid-fi components in line, it even satisfies my 2 channel audio cravings that used to require Creek and Arcam (Alpha 9). Get a good line conditioner and surge protector.
just fine, martin logan 7.1 system, with monster3550 surge/line conditioner. audio & visual tv, wonderful.
Always have been and always will be a fan of Yamaha and they keep coming out with better products such as this. The on-screen setup makes setup a snap and is very user friendly.
Very Nice Unit

This is very user friendly, and even if you are not tech savy. The on screen menu is great and the sound is wonderful.
Great Receiver with a Strong Caveat

About Me Movie Enthusiast, Tech Savvy
I've been a Yamaha receiver fan for years and have owned several of them over the years. I like their ability to add in an additional front height channel while simultaneously powering the rear surrounds. The digital sound rendering effects are well done and plentiful. The problem with this model is whenever the volume is adjusted, the level is displayed on the TV and there is no way to turn this "feature" off. Also, the remote control is a sea of small, similar and non-backlighted buttons. While I'd buy another Yamaha receiver, I would absolutely make sure the model does not have the on-screen volume display. For my home theater, I find it really disrupts the experience.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

About Me Practical, Tech Savvy
I use it in a high ceiling family room. There are plenty of power. I have a pair of 6 ohm front speaker in bi-amp mode and a center channel. Movie is exciting, classical music is warm, pop music sound great too. Versatile and good value for money.
