My beats review. There is a lot of things I like with these amazing headphones, I got them as an early Christmas present, and I can't put them down! There is quite a lot I'd like to say about these beasts of headphones, so if you were looking for a short and snappy review: I'm sorry. I am 16 and live in England and currently attend college, this is where I mainly use my headphones because the art studio is loud usually, I've owned various skull candy headphones and earbuds in the past and they did the job, but when I got my beats my perception on music was completely changed, I now can hear everything in the songs I listen to, it's brilliant and I would never regret buying them!Good points: Clear sound:  like I said earlier The sound is amazingly clear, I can't go Even begin to explain the clarity of the sound that comes from these headphones, I hear parts of the music that I've never heard before, I listen to a wide range of music from dub step to metal, and I'm constantly amazed with the clarity regardless of what is playing. Compact: I think, when you consider the actual size needed to acomidate the obviously large drivers in the cups and also the fact that these headphones are battery operated, I think they honestly rather compact, especially when they fold into their case, which is a very nice extra that you get with the headphones themselves, the case is hard, high quality and looks like it can protect the headphones well, and it can also accommodate my iPod and more batteries if they are needed, when you think about this and think that the headphones fit in there as well, they must be at a decent level of compactness.Durability: I use these headphones a lot and I consider them to be very durable, the hard plastic seems to resist scratching, to some extent although I wouldn't like to test that theory to it's limit, the metal sliders that you can adjust the headphone headband size on seems very sturdy, although my setting rarely changes, I would agree that if multiple people used one pair of headphones the wear and tear would be considerably more due to the constant adjustments. Many people complain that the beats headphones are fragile or broke two days after they purchased them, DONT pay any attention to these people as they probably don't know the value of money, if you treat these headphones as the [$] that you actually pay for them they should last a lifetime, failing that, a very very long time.Easiness of use: The headphones are very easy to use, I personally cannot see why anybody would have a problem using them? The cables are of good quality and have two standard 3.5mm jacks that are gold plated, maximising electrical contact and current, I rate the monster cables very highly, I use monster cables on my HI-FI too, they are brilliant! The headphones only have one form of interface, the on/noise isolation button, are as one. The battery interface isn't exactly rocket science either, just a twist with the middle and index finger, will open the battery compartment, if somebody can get these things wrong I think there is no hope for said person.Massive bass: If you are into musical genres with a high amount of bass, I would Defiantly recommend  these headphones, I listen to a lot of Dubstep, electric house, electro etc. And on many songs I feel the bass of the headphones make my head rattle, it's amazing, the bass is deep and rumbling, yet doesn't dominate the music, you can hear the rest of the spectrum perfectly as the pounding bass rocks your world, many reviews give the beats a bashing, many of the said reviews are from pretentious audiophiles, who get defensive because they don't like to change from they're beloved headphone brand, which in reality maybe isn't even that good, it's just because they are perhaps used to that audio, they cannot deal with change and write a biased review.Amazing mids and highs: like I have said in previous paragraphs, I feel that the  mids and highs as well as bass is crisp, defined, and well balanced, many people want equaliser settings on the headphones themselves, I disagree. I think that the iPod or mp3 equaliser settings are more than enough, and if the beats headphones had equaliser settings, it would cause more people to flame on the headphones because they would have to be made more chunky than they already are. People are trying to create a solution, not to a problem that doesn't exist, but a problem that already has a pre specified solution anyway. But regardless the mids and highs are beautifully made, and when listening to slower songs, maybe perhaps pop music, would be ridiculously good, but I wouldn't know as I don't listen to that genre of music.Looking like a BAU5!!: I personally think that these headphones make you look like a beast, you cannot beat the looks in my opinion, they are simplistic and angular, I love angular design, I'd much prefer it over curves and bubbles. I've had people say they look generic, which is an empty argument, how can you claim that one pair of headphones are generic. Pretty much all over-ear headphones run off of one design? I'm not sure what people expect when they say something like that? Do they want the headphones to look overly extravagant and weird and off the wall, you'd look like a moron wearing them. The chunky bulk of the headphones isn't a bad thing, they are majestic and stylish bulky headphones make me and others look cool! I have been bashed in the past, many a time, by audiophiles. Some have no respect for anybody that purchases headphones based on looks, this is such a moronic way to look at headphones, of course you base headphones on looks, as well as the sound quality, it seems like audiophiles get one whiff of the fact that people take the looks of headphones into consideration, and they take it as if that's all they care about, newsflash, we don't! If headphones looked like absolute rubbish, yet they were brilliant when it came to audio, the wouldn't get a look in because it's the looks what draw you in when you initially see some new products, and if beats looked so rubbish like some people tend to imagine, they wouldn't sell because they would just get glazed over by some other better looking product, in short, if they looked so bad, they wouldn't sell with the momentum they do at the moment.Nice colours: The new limited edition colours that the studio headphones come I'm at the moment are great! A much needed change, don't get me wrong there was nothing wrong with the black, White and red that they came in originally, if the limited edition colours weren't around when I bought them, I originally was going to go for White! I loved the new limited edition colours were of such great choice I found it very hard to actually make a decision in the end. The main contenders for me were purple, orange, green, and silver, I loved the purple ones, but when realised that there were Justin Beiber sponsored solos, that are the exact same shade of purple. Risking the raw awesomeness of beats be destroyed by the sacrouligous  taint of Justin beiber, and the fact that I could be associated with him is a fate worse than death. So in short purple was a No-no. The promise of individuality that silver brought to the engagement, was rather tempting I never hear anybody talk about the silver ones, and they just had something that I liked over the others, maybe it was the fact that the silver paint seemed textured, unlike the other colours which seem flatter. But in the end I decided to not go for silver, they seemed a little dull to me. I think that the green ones looked sick! They really went well with the White padding and ear muffs,  but in the end I made a decision against it because I felt that after a while the pristine White padding and ear muffs would become grubby and dirty and end up looking nasty! I also liked the orange ones from the start as orange is probably my favourite colour! I said to myself that they could have looked better with bite padding and whatnot, yet I remembered the dirt issue and agreed with the designers black padding and muffs, but these were what I decided with in the end and I'm happy I didn't choose the others as I now realise the orange ones were the best choice! The colours have a lovely full colour that is bright, bold and full, it has a great glossy sheen that really makes the colour!Haha I think, that this small novel has covered what I like about beats, and now for what I dislike, and as you can probably tell. There is little I find bad about beats in general, and I only have one major quarrel with them so here they are, I promise this will be shorter than the rest: Pricey: Now, I don't regard the beats as poor value for money in any way. I think you get what you pay for. Yet to anybody nearly  £300 for a pair of headphones is a lot of money to anybody regardless of how rich or poor you are, even a millionaire shouldn't value £300 any less than you or I. Personally if you can't afford beats I would advise going for a cheaper option because as I said earlier it's a lot of money to anybody, and even now I can't warrant paying that amount of money for headphones, but regardless!Noise leakage: Right this is my main Bad point with beats studio in particular, the noise leakage is quite bad, I don't agree with some people's "MASSIVE" claims, people have said that beats can be heard even in a crowded place like on a bus? In a quiet area I would perfectly agree, a quiet classroom or library yes. But on a bus? No. The background noise on a bus is loud as it is the only victims to the noise leakage would be people directly next to you. But the amount of people I see on a bus with headphones on it shouldn't be as much as of an apocalypse as people make out, besides the noise leakage on beats It only bad when the headphones are at full volume, and I don't blame the headphones haha! 100% on beats can be damaging to your hearing, so if you turn them down a bit, it's gonna kill two birds with one stone, you will not go deaf way before age does it to you and you aren't going to make strangers irate in deathly quiet areas, in short I have no problems in a moderately noisy art studio, which is where the beats get used most often, so unless you are In church or something the noise leakage isn't going to be a problem (provided your not crazy with the volume)Niggles: I only have a couple things which I can't warrant as complains or bad points, they are just suggestions or advice in a way, firstly, for [$] I would love to see the shell of studios to be in aluminium, but with the ultra glossy paint finish, just so they feel less like you aren't going to break them when you pick them up, don't get me wrong they ARE NOT fragile, or easily breakable, just aluminium would give them a better feel, would be a nice addition, and would warrant the high price tag more! Secondly  the packaging as nice as it is, I'd love to Dre take a leaf out of Apples book and put some high quality stickers in there, that say beats by Dre, or monster audio, or something along the lines of that, again there is no real reason for it I just like the stickers that were packaged in apple products, but in the future I'd adore to see some Dre stickers knocking around in the packaging.Best uses: my best and only use is just listening for music, as boring as it seems, now I don't do any of the other options so I cant comment, I mean I'm sure there are better headphones for professional recording? Like £1000 headphones or something haha! Another use I picked is looking boss! The headphones can really make a look, plus people look at you and think, he must be into his music or whatever, if you are a bit of a poser I'd Definitely asvise buying a pair to enhance the look haha!End points: I would rate these headphones very highly, without a shadow of a doubt! 10 out of 10 for sound quality, build quality and looks they truly are the best headphones on the Market! The king of audio headphones! Thank you for reading my whole review! I'm sure it took a while, but for those who could actually be bothered to read it I salute you, but at the end of the day my review can only persuade, argue and advise, go into your local store and see if they have a demo pair, then all I have said can truly be put into perspective!

I've had these headphones since 2008 and have to say, performance wise they are great, but durability wise they are terrible!!!

The casing somehow ripped off while leaving the screws intact! I'm surprised something that cost so much would be so poorly designed! I'm guessing that's why the newer models exclude that cheap plastic that was used on the first release.

Never thought I'd consider using duct tape on this product.. terrible! Who's idea was that?! I hope these Pro's are 10x's better because this experience is making me not want to buy any other products related to this brand.

I got my studios after owning a pair of solos for a couple of weeks and I must say that these are very comfortable! The sound quality is pretty good. The things I don't like are the noise leak they have and what seems to be less bass than the solos. That may have something to do with how well they seal compared to the solos. When I put them on I can hear pretty much everything. And when i first use them is an annoying buzzing/click sound that I have no idea how to get rid of or where it comes from. I'll be sending them in to get that checked out.

Mainly use for home and while traveling. -GREAT audio quality. Better than any headphones I've owned. (Some as much as $500)-Removable 3.5mm audio cord ensures long lasting experience. Breaks? Just replace the cable.-Extremely long battery life. I've left these on for 3, 12 hour periods, plus approx. 10 hours of listening and the batteries still have not died.-Leaks sound quite a bit. At 50% volume, your music can be heard 4-6 feet away in quiet environment.-Microphone functionality is not compatible with many devices. (Windows XP, Ubuntu, and Samsung phones, just to name a few)-Pricey replacement parts. $19.99 for a 3.5mm male to male cable? No thanks. Try [@].For [$], great headphones. Quality and price balance each other out.

These headphones are advertised to be fully compatible with iPhone but the volume seems to be too low when used with iPhone as if it was underexploited.
Is is a very different story when you connect it to a mac playing an uncompressed file through a powerfull sound card!!!
One thing i hate about it is the interference next to a GPRS Phone.

If you are undecided between the solos and studio, definitely go for the studios. The ear cups are much more comfortable and are a much better fit than the solos. Upgrading my studios the the detox limited edition pros and cant wait to see the difference.
