We purchased this GE Advantium Microwave Speedcook Oven to replace an old regular GE Profile Microwave and also remove a little convection oven we kept on the countertop - to avoid firing up the big oven during hot months. This meets the need well.

Will have to report back on overall dependability and longevity of the unit as have heard mixed reviews. Our old GE died after 10 years so hope this one last at least that long. As for some review information worth calling out:

1. Speedcook
This feature is taking some getting used to be we seem to like it. It does cook faster, heats well, crisp things, and the menus that are included already have most foods in them or it is easy to customize an entry. You basically set how long to use upper lamp, lower, and microwave. Results have been good. It does remind you when to use the metal tray (for cooking with lights/convection) versus the glass tray (when just microwaving). Only pain is swapping them frequently if you switch a lot.

2. Convection
Have used this the least but seems to work ok, not as good as a full size oven though. It preheats pretty quickly still compared to a regular full size oven.

3. Noise Level
The microwave and fans are pretty quiet overall - compared to our old one a little quieter and has pretty good suction. We vent upwards out of the house. You do hear clicking on and off when speed cooking as the lights cycle on and off and microwave cycles but it is just a little noise also.

4. Stainless Interior
This seems required since the thing gets really hot inside but already are seeing little spots here and there due to oil popping or food sizzling. Very hard to clean up aftwards and it'll never look perfect after you use this oven for a while - seem like it'll start to always look pretty dirty after years of use.

5. Install
We installed this ourself pretty easily but but do be aware of a few things. It can sit on a previous same size GE mounting bracket so no need to install the new one. Finally, it comes with a mounting bracket literally screwed on to the back of the oven already that you need to take off before mounting - not in instruction manual and looks like part of the oven.

6. Energy
This is NOT an energy efficient appliance at all when speed cooking using like 2000 watts sometimes. Supposedly the time savings make up for that though.

Overall though if you don't mind the pretty big increase over a regular microwave with convection the speed cook feature is pretty much worth it. Adds additional use to the oven. Oh, and the inside capacity of this thing really is pretty big - a 11x13 casserole dish really does fit pretty easily.

It is my first time having a microwave/conv. oven and I am still playing around with it. Ive had it installed for 3 weeks. It has a good size oven, very good instructions and cd for use. I am looking forward to using this oven to its full capasity. The hood works great for lighting, removing cooking fumes and I believe it is a great product

This oven is great for baking food when you don't want to turn on the big oven and heat up the house. It is big enough to bake most family meals.

It's still early since I purchased this oven. But so far it's done what I hoped it would do. I have defrosted poultry and prepared a full meal in this oven. In my old microwave, it was actually cooking the chicken while thawing! Not this one. It thawed it perfectly. I have cooked breakfast biscuits and they came out nicely browned. So far I am very pleased with this oven and I'm glad I purchased it.
