I have purchased this windshield mount to replace original suction cup holder for Escort Passport 8500 X50 Radar Detector. Original radar holder would fall off the windshield every few days depending on the outside tempreature...Read complete review

Escort Heavy Duty Mount

A year ago I purchased 2 "heavy duty" mounts to replace the very poor original factory mounts. The first failed within a month and the second has been falling occasionally and has now completely failed. It is very disconcerting that Escort make a great detector only to use an extremely poor mounting system. The plastic spring loaded connector rod to the suction cup evidently cannot withstand the pressure. When you have your installed wiring pulled out and your interior damaged due to your detector falling it is very frustrating.

I doubt this review will be posted but hopefully the engineering or procurement folks at Escort will take this feedback and improve the mounts.

I have purchased 2 of these mounts and both have failed within a year. Seems that in the summer time the suction cup becomes loose and with the weight of the radar detector hanging on it the internal spring breaks and the mounts are useless at this point. I hope Escort is taking notes on this.
