We bought this microwave because it was cheap. After our other microwave died after just three years, we figured it was a waste to spend a lot on another one that will likely break too. That's just how things are made these days. So we got this cheap one. It's simple. There aren't any fancy options for defrosting or reheating, like our old LG had. I do miss that a bit. And when your food is finished the beep is super loud and can't be cut off by opening the door. And for some reason the screen says "Good" instead of "Done" or something more logical. It is quieter, however, than our old microwave, and it comes with the charcoal filter, unlike the GE Profile we were considering. Since the filter is around $70, that made a big difference. The microwave reheats food. It melts butter. I don't know how well it's going to defrost meat, but I can't really complain for the price.

I got this microwave as part of an entire kitchen appliance set in 2011. The particular model I have is FFMV162LSA which is probably a store specific variation of this model. The microwave work and functions ok. There is an annoying ready beeping that just can't be shut off even after you open the door and remove your microwaved items. That is a small gripe but my big concern is that the handle to the door seems to have disentigrated from the screws that hold it to the door. It's a built in unit with the blower sitting underneath it over the gas range. I'm going to have to research how to even open the door to get to the screws so I can remove the handle completely but this is very sad for a handle to be destroyed like that. I don't have kids so it's only used by adults primarily. I had fridgidaire products last me over decades but I guess quality control is not enforced oversees. I wouldn't recommend this unit to anyone, maybe get a unit with an actual molded door handle or a push button so there is nothing that has to be pulled to open.

Comments about Frigidaire 1.6 Cu Ft Over The Range Stainless Steel Microwave:
I have had this microwave for several months and I feel it can be approved upon. improvements include a stronger door handle assembly, dual light settings, and separate buttons for defrost by time or weight.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

over stove microwave

Just installed it and like the above stove concept. The only problem is that it's so high I need a step ladder to see inside while food is cooking but that's no big deal. It was just one of four other Frigidaire major appliances I purchased due to flooding. It's a brand I trust.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Large and Efficient

I am very pleased with my new microwave. The features I use most often are of re-heating and defrosting. These include 1, 2 & 3 minute options, along with another for 30 seconds. Love it. It is easy to clean. The only thing I might change is the level of the sound on the warning buzzer. It is currently rather loud.

This was put in our new home and it's just great and so pretty looking!
Powerful, Reliable, but Some Annoying Quirks
This came with my new house I just bought, which is 5 years old. So far no complaints with the actual microwave performance itself; it heats really fast and can't put it below anything else I've used in terms of reliability (I've never had a microwave die on me, so I can't really say it's better or worse). Others have pointed to the handle as cheap and easily broken, but honestly mine still looks new and I can't confirm that fact. From a looks/style perspective it's nice, can't complain there, and like I said the previous owners were really meticulous and I've been the beneficiary of their OCD throughout my new place. Feature wise it's pretty simplistic and run of the mill: clock, defrost, popcorn, potato, beverage, etc. Now for the quirks, the loud door others mention is definitely on that list. In terms of annoyance from 1-10, it's probably a 3. I barely notice it these days. However, the other quirk, is a 8. This microwave is not like any other I've used when it finishes cooking, it beeps 3 times, but DOES NOT STOP when you open the door or push cancel/stop. It's more annoying than I would have originally suspected, but seriously, it's just one of those things that you kind of go "I can't believe they didn't think of this."

This microwave came with my new construction home 1 year 9 months ago. About a month ago the clock had to be reset almost every time I pressed a button to use the microwave. This morning I once again set the clock, opened the door and the microwave went dark. I have never had a microwave oven die on me. I live alone and basically use it to warm coffee and food. My last one lasted 20 years and was sold with my house. I don't think it will be worth having this fixed, it will probably be cheaper to buy a new oven, definitely not a Frigidaire.

I had my microwave for less than a year and a fuse and some sort of compressor has already gone out I expected it to last me much longer than 10 months.

This microwave offers me an excellent choice of features. The only slight drawback is that the door closing is a bit noisy.
easy to use with great features

Microwave came with new home purchase and after 2 months started making grinding noise. A tech came out but couldn't identify the problem. Worried it may not last long! Other than that works wonderful!
