Advanced 2D image technology accumulated over the years at the Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory (PHL) has also been applied to 3D image playback, allowing high-quality images to approach original film quality. Lifelike 3D images with dramatic leaping effects and enhanced depth, luster and texture are beautifully reproduced.

PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus

PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus is a high quality image-processing technology developed to precisely process each pixel of the Blu-ray Disc video signal in the vertical direction. It reproduces color data with twice the accuracy of conventional systems to keep colors faithful and sharp.

Pure Direct Sound Speaker
True to Cinema Sound Quality

The sound from speaker box with wide width will reduce unwanted sound reflection from the baffle. The slim-type speaker box also reduces unwanted reflections, and brings out high quality pure direct sound.

Audio Return Channel (ARC)
Easy to Use

The theater system is compatible with a new feature of ARC (Audio Return Channel). ARC allows receiving audio signals from the TV, on top of the preexisting HDMI function of sending audio/video signals to the TV with just one cable. This was the first home theater in a box I have ever purchased. The system was fairly easy to set up although the owners manual could be a little confusing if you're new to sound systems. The sound is unbelievably clear and realistic. The subwoofer is very powerful and adds the right amount of bass to enhance any movie or add fullness to music. Since my thin tv didn't have room to place speakers on top, the tall boy front speakers were the answer. The surround sound is awesome and with all the features this system shouldn't become outdated for a long time. I'm very pleased with this system.

Purchased this unit for the 3D features, BluRay and surround sound. The in-store display was in a small area and sounded splendid. Once we got it home the speakers sounded tinny and we had to crank the volume way up to get a decent playback. The Speaker wires are tiny and way too short to reach in a 12X15 room. The speaker wires also have a molded, color coded plugs preventing you from using decent wires for the speakers. I already have wires in place to use with the speakers and had to cut the plugs off and solder them to my existing wires so I could hook up the speakers. The speakers themselves are 3 ohm and the power output is calculated using RMS indicating 1000 watts. True output is only about 400 watts. In retrospect, I would purchase a different system given the same circumstances.

Best HTIB I've owned

By

Pros

Cons

Comments about Panasonic Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Home Theater System:

Sound quality is really quite good for a HTIB. 5.1 sound is superb, and can be expanded to 7.1 channels. 3d looks stellar. The feature set is unbeatable at the price I paid for this system. I could talk all day about the pros, but most of the other reviewers covered them. Here are a few of the pros/cons that no one has brought up yet. 1. Youtube - glad the unit has it...actually using youtube is a bit of a hassle. Typing is a pain, but it is possible to search for videos. 2. This unit's processor feels underpowered at times, especially when online. There is a 4-5 sec delay on every command. 3. My biggest gripe with this unit - NO headphone jack...my first HTIB not to have this function. I've owned several HTIB's , including some other Panasonic models, over the past few years, and this one is by far the most impressive.

Comments about Panasonic Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Home Theater System:

It is NOT the perfect sound system for everyopne in every situation. OK, got that out of the way. What it is ... a really nice sounding, compact, easy to use (if you are familiar with sound, video and WiFi equipment) HTIB. Setup was a breeze. The speaker wires were, thankfully, easily long enough to accomodate the speaker placement I needed to employ based on the room (master bedroom with heavy furniture I had no desire to move ... LOL). I can see where someone who has not configured a multi-function device like this might find themselves a bit boggled by it all. I agree with the reviewer who said the explanations of some of the functions and custom choices was sorely lacking in the manual. However, in my experience, connecting to my WiFi took about 2 minutes from the time the unit discovered my network, I put in my security code and it said "success". From there I went to VieraCast and logged into my Pandora account, worked perfectly. Then over to Netflix, popped open my laptop, activated the unit with the code provided, 30 seconds later my Instant Queue was on the screen. So now on to the sound setup which is a bit of a mixed bag and why I gave Ease of Use a 3 rating. You really have to just click on everything to see what it does. Period. It is the only way you will find something that suits your listening preference and works with the most different sources. I really liked the feature of being able to run the Speaker Test and adjust the Center, Sub and Rear volumes to match the L-R Fronts. I did NOT like the fact that the L-R Towers are NOT adjustable. I was able to dial in a 2ms delay on the Center speaker and a 10ms delay on the rears which gave a very nice, expanded active listening area. However, even when dropping the Center speaker 3db and the rear speaker output by 6db (the maximum) they are still a bit too loud compared to the Fronts and that's my major complaint. If I could have bumped the Fronts up a few DB I think I might have been able to get an almost perfect balance. I have pretty much settled on Manual>MultiChannel>Movie as my "default" setting since most HD programming is in 5.1 surround already. The system absolutely ROCKS when a BluRay disk is the source and Music CD's also sound much better than expected even at high volumes. I'm well aware HTIB's are not touted for their "audiophile quality" music reproduction and I have a system in my living room that was specifically put together for that purpose. But if I'm just puttering around the bedroom and would rather crank some tunes than have the TV on this unit is really decent sounding and powerful enough to enjoy the music. The SubWoofer may be small in size but it has NO problem at all putting out some nice, fat bass in a room with heavy carpet and drapes and a big old mattress right in the middle to soak up sound. I set the unit on Bass = 4 and also enabled HB (Heavy Bass). I may even back that off a bit as time goes by. I would definitely recommend this unit to anyone that understands what they are buying and the primary intended purpose of the unit. It compares VERY favorably and EXCEEDS most of the other HTIBs I have heard in stores or at friends' homes. I plan on updating this review after I have spent more time with the unit. I'm still not done fiddling with the settings and I have no idea of the reliability yet but the unit will definitely get a workout in my house. Oh, forgot to mention, I got this through my Employee Purchase Plan at work and I absolutely could not beat the price for a unit sporting this level of features and power. If I had to pay full retail I wouldn't have put "Inexpensive" as a PRO.

Comments about Panasonic Full HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Home Theater System:

I was looking for something inexpensive to improve the sound from my TV. I didn't read the specs very well- and didn't realize how small the speakers were. I was VERY skeptical how they would sound okay being so small. They do- I was wrong- totally worth it.

Reading reviews is interesting but you have to hear the system. The sound is what matters. That is difficult because most retail stores do not have the system connected and in an area where it can be properly heard. I did hear the system and was IMPRESSED. Once set up and operating I found the system met my expectations. If you want a complete system this is the way to go. Everything is designed to work together. Complaints from others about the wiring, connectors, and inadequate instruction manual are accurate. Telephone technical help for setup is better than merely competent.

You will not believe it, but this Home Theater does NOT support DTS over Optical In. When you use the Optical In, only Dolby Digital or PCM (2.0) will work. For a expensive set produced in 2010 you expect that it will support DTS over Optical In. Even my old Home Cinema system that is 6 years old supports DTS over Optical In. It is also extremely hard to use, not the mention the worste manual I have ever seen. Every option is writen, exept what the option will do. For example you can choose a sound type M1, M2, but what M1 or M2 menas is unknown.

The speakers sound alright but not much better than the tv speakers. They don't get very loud at all through cable. The back surround speakers get static constantly and won't even play correct sound anymore. I am returning this if still possible as this product is a joke. It is not easy to use and just feels like a cheap product.
