I LOVE to vacuum ever since I bought one of these beauties. They're elegant to look at, a breeze to use/empty/carry around, and the battery is going strong and lasts plenty of time for me to vacuum about 600 square feet of vacuum area (maybe more but that's all the vacuuming I need to do in my 1200sq ft home. I ADORE my Platinum Linx. I hope they NEVER stop making them. So they probably will. Get your while you can. Is it perfect...no. But nothing is. It gets blocked up from time to time, but it's not difficult to unblock and it has great suction for a vacuum this size and cordless to boot. And this is coming from a home with a huge, shedding dog. Enjoy!

I've got nothing but positive things to say about my Hoover stick vac. It's been an awesome piece of machinery if it wasn't for a couple issues. 1. The battery is absolutely horrid. Honestly, I don't know why there are so many problems reported with them. In under 3 months it would barely hold a charge and, since then, I basically do a room at a time because that's all the battery will get me. Thankfully I have hardwood floors through most of the house, as it seems to last a bit longer without the beater brush running. 2. There isn't any cord backup! Honestly, would it have killed the designers to put some kind of "backup" on the vacuum for when the battery fails? I realize this is a "cordless" vacuum, but you really miss that cord when the battery dies on you in under 10 minutes. 3. The replacement cost of the battery is absolutely ridiculous. $70 is the price of most corded stick vacs, so why would I bother replacing the battery in my hoover now that I've seen how inconvenient a cordless can be? I've got a small corded stick-vac (basically a hand vac on a stick) that cost me 1/3 the price of the BATTERY for my hoover and it has better vacuum pressure than my hoover. The only thing it's missing is the beater bar, which I need for my throw carpets. Long story short, my Hoover was once the king of my household. Now, due to the horrible battery, it's been replaced by a dirt devil stick-vac that costs 1/3 the price of the Hoover's battery alone. After 3 months the only work my hoover saw is when one of my throw carpets needs done, because that's about all the battery will handle. Granted I've had it for a couple years now, but the horrible battery has never been worth the expense of the vacuum.

Same problem as everybody else... Poor batteries!8

Comments about Hoover Platinum Collection LiNX Lithium Battery:
You give the following advice over and over and over , but I have not seen where anyone has replied that it has fixed their problem . "One trick that helps is to unplug that charger with the battery out and let it sit unplugged for about 15 minutes. Then plug it back in and the charger will be reset. The light on the charger should blink once to confirm it's OK. If it does nothing and stays dark, there may be an issue with that charger." I have tried this a number of times and it never solve the problem with my dead battery. With all the problems reported on this battery is Hoover going to make any accommodation to their customers to assist them in getting new batteries that may actually hold a charge and last longer? I am a long time Hoover customer, and currently have three other Hoover vacuums in my house, and have had others in the past... that will not be the case in the future unless something can be done about this pervasive battery problem! Obviously many people were willing to pay a premium price for a premium product... but while they paid the price, the product has fallen well short of their expectations and being a premium product!

Great vacuum; but batttery problems like many others
from Richmond VA
We owned this vacuum for a couple of years. It's a great little vacuum. It effectively picks up dog hair off of rugs, and we use it frequently in between major vacuuming to touch up. After a while, the batter started not lasting as long. That seemed reasonable after a couple of years, so we ordered a new battery. The new battery was great, for about a month. Now it won't charge at all. The light on the charger doesn't even come on when it's inserted. I've tried all of the recommendations (unplug charger, wait 30 seconds; put battery in vacuum, turn on, wait 30 seconds). Nothing works. The charger still charges the old battery, but it now only lasts a couple minutes. The battery problems are very disappointing. This would have 4-5 stars, if not for the battery problems.
Battery or Charger?
from Palm Beach Gardens FL
We purchased about 1.5 months ago, used it twice before leaving for a long trip. Either not charging or battery dead. Light blue light blinks but doesn't work. Jim@jameswhitepa.com

Replacement Battery no good

Original battery that came with vacuum was great. It started loosing its charge after about 3 years so I ordered a new one. The new battery died after 6 months. Unacceptable for such an expensive battery!

The battery failed after one use and charge cycle. After It's a lemon. Others in this thread say the same thing; the battery is terrible. I cannot recommend this product.
Nice cordless vacuum but battery doesn't last
from Houston, TX, United States
I got this for Christmas 2013 and it's working great for about a year. However, starting this year, I noticed that the battery started to go bad. I used to be able to use it for about 15 mins at a time, then it went down to about 10 mins, then 4 mins, and now it barely lasts 2 mins. I have tried resetting like what they've suggested but it didn't help. I think the battery is shot. For the price of this vacuum, I expected it to last much longer than a year. Loved the vacuum but disappointed with the quality esp when the battery is so expensive (almost half the cost of another vacuum that might last more than a year).
Did not last 8 months!
We have barely used our vacum, and the battery already won't take a charge. I have tried everything to get the battery to charge with no results. This is the single worst battery I have ever had in any product I have owned. Beware of this product.
Loved it at first but then

I loved this for about the first 8 months and then I started having the same problem it seems others are having. The battery says its charged but when I go to use it it drains very quickly.
