I LOVE to vacuum ever since I bought one of these beauties. They're elegant to look at, a breeze to use/empty/carry around, and the battery is going strong and lasts plenty of time for me to vacuum about 600 square feet of vacuum area (maybe more but that's all the vacuuming I need to do in my 1200sq ft home. I ADORE my Platinum Linx. I hope they NEVER stop making them. So they probably will. Get your while you can. Is it perfect...no. But nothing is. It gets blocked up from time to time, but it's not difficult to unblock and it has great suction for a vacuum this size and cordless to boot. And this is coming from a home with a huge, shedding dog. Enjoy!

I've got nothing but positive things to say about my Hoover stick vac. It's been an awesome piece of machinery if it wasn't for a couple issues. 1. The battery is absolutely horrid. Honestly, I don't know why there are so many problems reported with them. In under 3 months it would barely hold a charge and, since then, I basically do a room at a time because that's all the battery will get me. Thankfully I have hardwood floors through most of the house, as it seems to last a bit longer without the beater brush running. 2. There isn't any cord backup! Honestly, would it have killed the designers to put some kind of "backup" on the vacuum for when the battery fails? I realize this is a "cordless" vacuum, but you really miss that cord when the battery dies on you in under 10 minutes. 3. The replacement cost of the battery is absolutely ridiculous. $70 is the price of most corded stick vacs, so why would I bother replacing the battery in my hoover now that I've seen how inconvenient a cordless can be? I've got a small corded stick-vac (basically a hand vac on a stick) that cost me 1/3 the price of the BATTERY for my hoover and it has better vacuum pressure than my hoover. The only thing it's missing is the beater bar, which I need for my throw carpets. Long story short, my Hoover was once the king of my household. Now, due to the horrible battery, it's been replaced by a dirt devil stick-vac that costs 1/3 the price of the Hoover's battery alone. After 3 months the only work my hoover saw is when one of my throw carpets needs done, because that's about all the battery will handle. Granted I've had it for a couple years now, but the horrible battery has never been worth the expense of the vacuum.

love the vacuum, hate the battery
Comments about Hoover Platinum Collection LiNX Lithium Battery:
when it works, it's great. but the battery (1.5 years old) only lasts 3 minutes and is half the price of the original unit! the batteries are now "out of stock". I only hope hoover is working on getting a better battery on the market... soon
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Used product for less than one month. Battery will no longer charge. Definitely the battery as I have tested the charger on with a friends battery.

Just Like New

After 6 years, the battery to my Hoover Linx Vacuum died. Since there's nothing wrong with the vacuum itself, the only option was to buy a new one battery. I researched on-line and Hoover had the best price. The new battery charges quicker than the older one....only about 2 hours maximum. And the charge is enough for me to clean my whole condo, carpets, wood floors and bathroom tile floors.
Loved it for about 13 months...then not so happy!

Bought this Hoover Linx vacuum because of it's Hoover name, but very disappointed in it! Very poor battery life. Used to run for 20 minutes, now I can barely get 2-3 minutes out of it! Tried the routine like everyone else had to do, still frustrated!

Two dead batteries

I have the Hoover Stix vacuum with 2 batteries. It never worked very well and within 6 months the batteries died. I have never had to deal with such temperamental battery instructions. You can only charge the batteries for 3 hours, you cannot leave them on the charger, etc. It has been a year and I have 2 dead batteries and a dead vacuum.
Bought 3 Linx's and still need a battery

I'm debating whether or not to buy a replacement battery for my Linx. It never seemed to last too long and now barely runs for 2 minutes. Not sure the price of this battery is worth it, will the motor fail, or the charger? It's ridiculous that it you can't leave it on the charger or it ruins the battery. They should tell people this BEFORE you buy it. I bought my elderly Mother Linx, her battery held up, but the motor failed. Just bought her a second one, because it is easy for her to use at 92 yrs. old. $400 bucks on these and now I need to spend another $69? Either reduce the price of the battery or provide a smart charger that stops charging when battery is full.

So lightweight; no power cord! Easy to move around. Has great power. We are using this on our hardwood floors as well as carpets and it really gets up dirt and cat hair. We love it!

Same problem as everybody else... Poor batteries!8

You give the following advice over and over and over , but I have not seen where anyone has replied that it has fixed their problem . "One trick that helps is to unplug that charger with the battery out and let it sit unplugged for about 15 minutes. Then plug it back in and the charger will be reset. The light on the charger should blink once to confirm it's OK. If it does nothing and stays dark, there may be an issue with that charger." I have tried this a number of times and it never solve the problem with my dead battery. With all the problems reported on this battery is Hoover going to make any accommodation to their customers to assist them in getting new batteries that may actually hold a charge and last longer? I am a long time Hoover customer, and currently have three other Hoover vacuums in my house, and have had others in the past... that will not be the case in the future unless something can be done about this pervasive battery problem! Obviously many people were willing to pay a premium price for a premium product... but while they paid the price, the product has fallen well short of their expectations and being a premium product!
Needed to replace an old one, and working great...
