We have owned a Fisher and Paykel washer and dryer for 4 years. We are expecting our fourth service call in three years for our washer. Repair parts are shipped from New Zealand and take roughly two weeks to arrive, so no washer for at least two weeks. Extremely frustrating!!! Will NEVER buy a product where repair parts are not locally available again...not disclosed when purchased products. Also, since when does a high end, well taken care of product break down 4 times in four years. DO NOT BUY!!!!!

We are a couple with no children. Washer is on the 2nd floor. When we moved in, our old machine shook the whole house during spin dry. We've had our new Fisher & Paykel only a month, and have used it three or four times per week. It cleans well. Compared to our 15-year-old top loader, it uses one fourth as much water and soap (good for our septic system), and much less electricity. It spins the clothes more, so the clothes require less time in the electric dryer. And it is amazingly smooth, every time. Can't tell it is running, even in the next room, even when spin dry is going at top speed.

We have a 3 1/2 old model of this washer and the associated dryer so perhaps the company has improved its product. The washer is frequently out of balance and is noisy. When the washer has broken down (3-4 service calls so far) and parts are needed watch out. Unlike a number of brands, the parts are not readily available and have taken a week on average to arrive. With 3 boys we've been forced to go to a laundrymat (which we will be doing again today while we wait for another part).
