I LOVE my robot. I got a Roomba 560 9 months ago and I used it daily ever since, and so my floors are cleaner than ever.
I like to have a tidy house, but I just don't have the time. Since the robot cleans everyday, even if it misses a spot once, it doesn't matter. The amount of dust in the house has reduced considerably, and the floors look really good. Even with a toddler at home!

Some tricks for first users: when you use it for the first time, it is better to vaccum the floors first. But thereafter, if you use it often, you won't need to vaccum again; well, occasionally if there is a huge mess! Also, at first you may need to observe the robot a little bit, to figure out what are the difficult spots; I have put the virtual barriers on those, and now the robot runs while I am at work and it is in its almost always in its base.

Of course, if you use it daily as I do, you need to empty bin everyday for an efficient use (it takes, literally, 15 seconds). And weekly, I performed a whole 5 min cleaning of my robot: I use compressed air and it really helps keeping it great.

Other than that, the other routine that I have is just quickly scanning the room to make sure my child didn't leave a baloon, a napkin, or other obstacles. But, I have to say, the robot has "eaten" already a beaded collar, coins, and several other objects, and they all came intact :).

Don't think more about it and get one! It is a life changer!

I got my first Roomba 570 in Jan 2008 - loved it! Got a 562 Pet Series in November for upstairs. A month past warranty the 570 stopped working. Service was great - they replaced as if still in warranty, AFTER doing extensive helpful troubleshooting. A little over a year later the 562 kept wanting brushes cleaned when nothing was there, and hiccupped as it moved; a few months after that the warranty-replacement 570 Roomba literally lost it's mind and could not dock or go forward. Again Customer Service was helpful to a fault - we tried various fixes and cleaning module replacement for the 562 without fixing the bumpety hitch and stop, so they let me pay $116 for a core replacement into which I refitted battery, coverplate, cleaning module etc. I caved, and bought my own replacement for the poor crazed unit that had replaced my original 570, but only after clearing bumper sensors per instruction got me nowhere. Halleluja - my place went back to trim and neat upstairs and down despite cats and plants and all.
But now again in spring 2011 - both Roombas are stopping every few minutes with a "clean Roombas brushes" error although there's nothing to remove at all and the brushes are rotating fine. I've cleaned out, tested, and examined every item Service taught me to look for, but to no purpose! Of course there's no warranty left on either unit, and no service program available, as iRobot doesn't have an authorized repair service or program for their customers.
So tallying up: over three years that's 5 robots including 3 brand new top of the line robots, a warranty replacement and a refurbished core assembly. I have spent $1300 along the way, only to discover that not one of these units EVER makes it much past the limited 1-year warranty.
These little guys are fantastic when they work: the scheduled maintenance has me spoiled absdolutely rotten. But a product line that costs $399 or $499 per unit and advertises as daily work appliances, should NOT consistently fail like clockwork a month or three past warranty.
So am about to go cold turkey. The irony is that when I thought the product was meant to last reasonably, I was willing to pay the rather high price. Now I know I'm just buying roughly a year of cleaning convenience, sweet Roomba is a seriously pricey indulgence I really can't afford.

Comments about iRobot Roomba 560 Vacuum Cleaning Robot:

I had the 510 and the 535 models before and the 560 is way better. The design of the brush has changed, which makes it easier to clean and more efficient in picking up stuff. I run it once a week and the 560 picks up twice as much as the others. It also starts on the programed schedule, so I can forget about it, except of course for emptying its bin. If any hair is tangled around the brush I just cut it off.
The only problem is that it keeps climbing up on the rotating chairs' feet and hangs there. Otherwise it gets in and out from everywhere and does a reasonable job. It's a great help.

Comments about iRobot Roomba 560 Vacuum Cleaning Robot:

I love my Roomba! It's programmed to clean the main floor of my house daily and does a pretty good job. Now that I have it, I don't know how I ever maintained a house with pets before. I can't believe how much hair it picks up every day! The only drawbacks to my Roomba are that it will get stuck under my fridge once every 2-3 weeks, it will lock itself in my laundry room if I leave the door open, and it frequently bumps its dock while cleaning then can't find it when it's trying to charge. Pretty minor inconveniences to a machine that keeps my hardwood floors looking clean and pet hair to a minimum!

LOVE my Roomba, Just purchased the New Aerovac Bin and the Enhanced cleaning head for my Roomba 560. I have 2 cats and a dog, was having trouble with the old bin leaving hair around the edge of the rugs. The bin would be almost empty but hair was catching on the prongs inside the bin and when the prongs got full it would rake it off on the edge of the rugs as it would start over them. Since I've gotten the new bin have not had that problem, seems to clean a lot more thorough. They have eliminated the prongs all together, "Great Idea". For pet owners like myself I highly recommend the Aerovac Bin and also the New Enhanced Cleaning Head. Thanks iRobot!!!!

Comments about iRobot Roomba 560 Vacuum Cleaning Robot:

Purchased our "Robby" (Roomba 550) 3 years ago. Upgraded unit to Aerovac to hold more and clean better. Have it set to run Mon-Fri at 1 PM. Until Robby arrived, we never realized how much dust builds up each day. It does most rooms of house, except Living Room with expensive rug. Have girls with long hair (instead of dogs or cats). Robby is able to run 2-3 days before cleaning. Have a Shop Vacuum setup to vacuum the brushes, filter and unit. Have the process down to only take about 5 minutes to clean. Unit will run for almost 2 full hours before going Home. It does occasionally run the battery down trying to get our 2000+ sq ft house done. (Had to replace the battery once. Change brushes, filter and rotor every 6 mo.) We only have to "Robby-tize" the place each day, i.e. pick up clothes and objects, close bathroom doors, etc. We only have to run the regular vacuum once a week to clean the left overs, and we hardly ever have to clean under the bed or couches anymore. If we ever need another, we will surely do so. We have recommended Roomba to many friends and relatives. They are always amazed when they see Robby going about his business.

Comments about iRobot Roomba 560 Vacuum Cleaning Robot:

I have had my Roomba for almost two years. I have five cats in my house and they shed a LOT. My Roomba is a lifesaver. I run it every morning and only get my vacuum out about once every two weeks. The dust bin is full every day; it takes me a few minutes to empty it and clean the brushes but it is so worth it. I can wear black slacks in my house again. Early on I had a problem with it stopping during cleaning, called customer service, and was immediately told what the problem was; I was not cleaning the little yellow sprockets. I started doing that and have not had the problem again. They were so helpful. I never write reviews but this product is a real blessing. I bought Roombas for all four of my grown children for Christmas and they love them, too. I have recommended them to everyone I know.

I could not be more pleased with my Roomba! I was dubious at first, but read a glowing review in another magazine so I took the plunge. I use the Rooomba every day now. My carpets always look and feel clean. Sure, the robot doesn't get into every nook and cranny, but just having it clean the high traffic areas means my house looks better and therefore my kids keep it neater!

Comments about iRobot Roomba 560 Vacuum Cleaning Robot:

I bought the 560, the biggest, baddest IRobot I could find at the time - like 2011. It does pick up the dirt on the floors. Now there are at least 5 NEW and IMPROVED models. Maybe the problem I have has been solved. But cleaning the thing is the worst. You have to get your hands dirty and pull the hair out of the brushes, and cut the hair wrapped around the ends of the brushes. The brush cleaner they provide does not take out the hair. There are two, retired adults in our household, and no pets. I run it every couple of weeks. I have to clean the brushes, by pulling out the dust and hair every time I use it, which means one room at a time, because it's packed in there. It's not just emptying the dirt bin. I'm ready to find a new lightweight upright vacuum and go back to the days of just changing the dust bag.

First of all this robot is obviously not intended to replace your manual vacuum. And it will not pick up as much or cover the edges like manual vacuuming will. However because it vacuums all on its own it will vacuum everyday and with this much vacuuming it almost makes up the difference. Myself, I vacuum once a month with a normal vac and let Roomba do the rest.
