We've had this little critter for about a week now and feel I can give a pretty good review. Yes, I would recommend this to a friend, but not this model. I think it's over priced for what it does.We bought the 610 because it has a better warranty than the other models, (2 years vs 1 year), it has the larger capacity bin, has the Max function, and it looks nicer than the other models. This costs us about [$] over the next closest model. Here is how it stacks up. Warranty: Only time will tell but 2 years is better than 1 year. Large Capacity Bin: So far, we've only used the standard bin and it's never even come close to being full. We have two dogs (Chows) and we keep a pretty clean house, so I'm not sure that the higher capacity bin will be a beneifit to us. If you have a dirty house, maybe it would. Note: the high capacity bin is really for pet hair and things like ceral, and larger things, not dirt. The filter in the standard bin has to be cleaned every use regardless. The large capacity bin has no filter. So for me, it's just a waste. Max mode cleaning. We have a fairly large house with a very open floor plan and lots of weird furniture. We hit the max button and it runs for about 1.5 hours non stop. It really does a good job. Way better than I expected. The only issue is our coffee table. It's weird and the little robot often gets stuck. I have to pull it out from under it about half the time. We have a solution for it, we just have to make an adjustment before we run it. Other than that, it does a great job. We use the virtual walls to help confine it somewhat so it doesn't go into the dining room or kitchen. And close all the other doors to the other rooms. Do that and it cleans a 40'x30' L shaped living room and 10'x10' sitting room no problem. We can also manually place it in the master bedroom and other rooms and it easily does the entire room. On carpet, it's great. But it's almost useless on tile or hardwood floors. All it really does is move the dust around. It does get the dog hair and that's great, but in the laundry room, it just blows the dust bunnies around, never picks them up. The same for the kitchen. Big stuff it gets, but small things it just pushes or blows around. Complaint: The Max mode can only be manually started. It has a scheduler, but on the scheduler it only runs about 30-45 minutes. And then back to the charging station. I really don't like that. I'm sure they have a reason why we can't run Max mode on the scheduler, but whatever it is, I disagree with it. In our house, we need the full 1.5 hours to clean the room. Clean up: I do not like it. No bag and the container has to be manually emptied and handled. The brush and beater also have to be cleaned after every run. It's not hard, in fact it's easy, but I just don't like handling the dirty parts. The dog hair wraps around the brush and it's just terrible. You have to pull off the ends and use the included cleaner to clean the brush. It does a fine job, but I just don't like handling it. For a [$] premium price, I would have expected something better in the cleaning department. Noise: NOT a problem! It's much quitier than our Oreck. Not even bothersome. I can even hear the TV by turning it up just a little more than normal when it's running. High praise for how quiet it is. Overall, it's fantastic. I would never want to be without it. Is it worth [$] more than the next closest model? For me, no. If the max function was on the scheduler, then I'd say maybe. And if they had a better way to clean it, yes for sure. You get one extra year of warranty, however, for the extra [$], you can almost buy a new one. Normally I would knock off 1 star for the lack of Max mode on the scheduler and 1 star for getting my hands dirty when cleaning it, but that would only leave 3 stars and this is definitely better than 3 stars. I guess the "coolness factor" raises it back up to 4 stars. It really is cool to see it run and it does pick up lots of dog hair which is why we bought it. But if I were to do it over again, I would buy one of the cheaper models and save the $250. One thing for sure no matter which one you buy; it'll make you feel like George & Jane Jetson.

Is poorly thought out in terms of containment and maintenance cleaning: Endless nooks and crannies that are extremely tiresome to clean. It's as if no one thought about that at all. It creates dust like a built-in dust emitter.

Love it. Cleans really good. I have 3 dogs and it picks up a lot of hair. Consequently I have to make sure every day that I empty and clean the brushes. It certainly makes my living room and kitchen look clean - It is something everyone would benefit from.

After I vacuumed with my $2000.00 vacuum, I set the roomba up and really didn't expect it to pick up much. I'm a busy college student and work full-time so I need a little help maintaining my carpets and floors. But after the first use, I was simply amazed at what it picked up. The filter was full of dust and dirt, and the bin contained some small particles that my other vacuum had missed. Twice Ginger has left the rooms that were walled off by lighthouses, and will not go on my rug that is about 3/4 in high, but other than that it's just perfect!! If you need help maintaining your home then I recommend this vacuum.

We love having our Roomba 610 Pro. We run it every night just before bed for the downstairs and once a week for the upstairs. Our home needs vacuuming every day due to pet hair and kids tracking dirt in from outside. We don't have to vacuum anymore except special occasions to get in cracks and behind doors, etc where Roomba can't reach.We run it with the lights on because it seems to do better when the sensors can see the dirt or objects. We also run it when we are at home and can hear it because sometimes it gets stuck in furniture and will beep and let you know. We run it while putting the kids to bed.
No problems with service or delivery. Went smoothly just as expected

Sometimes doesn't do well with large amounts of pet hair. It can get in the way of walking sometimes. NEEDS TO COME IN SEVERAL COLORS! As much as i like the red, it doesn't go well with my house. It would be awesome if you could choose the color scheme for your robot.

I had a Roomba years ago, it was not much more than a toy. I am a systems architect and can see many ways the device could be improved. That said, over a weeks' time this thing simply just works, just empty the little bin, and clean the brushes once a week.

I LOVE MY ROOMBA

I love my Roomba. I had recently installed hardwood floors in my home and the dust after some remodling and renovations in the kitchen and dining room took its toll. I could not keep my floors dusted. I would clean them and a day later, more dust. Even after the renovations were complete I still had a lot of dust. My husband (weakened by my cries of anquish) agreed that an iRobot was the way to go. We purchased the Professional 611 series roomba. If you are going to buy one, buy the biggest and the best he says, so we did. It is the best thing I ever bought and I recommend it highly. I have him programmed and every morning at 7:00 am as I rise for work, little man is just sweeping away. He runs for close to an hour and half and then finds his way back to the charger and readys himself for the next day. After work, I empty the vacuum bin and clean the filter.Here are some important things I learned. First, when dirty the roomba will stop and will say to clean the brushes. there is a great video on this site, so watch it. I figured it out the hard way through trial and error and this would have saved some aggravation as I am now quite proficient cleaning him. You not only clean the rollers, but hair and dirt gets round around the housings on the end, clean those too, not just the rollers. Make sure the yellow tabs on the wire cage are snapped back in place or it makes a thumping noise that will drive you insane and your husband will fuss at you for spending [$] on something that thumps until you figure out how what you did wrong when cleaning it. You have several places you need to clean on the rooma (again watch the video) and I do that about once or twice a week. I think most people who said that the brushes were clean but still got an error code was because they were not cleaning all the parts to the rollers (the ends) well as hair, etc, will wind up around the ends. There are yellow plastic (I don't know what you call them) pieces on both ends of both rollers, pull those off and the tips too as hair can wind up in them. Knowing how to proficiently clean my roomba now, makes it easier as it doesn't take much time to do the maintenance. If you think you can just run the roomba and not work on him, then I would not suggest having one because he does require some general cleaning, but it beats vacumming to me. Also, some people say it is noisy, but vacuums are much louder. He is not silent,but you can sit in the same room with it and still talk without yelling. He does go into my hall bath and occassionally gets stuck between the tub and toilet so once in awhile you may have to rescue him from there or occassional low furniture. I do have one thick area rug downstairs that he can't "climb" onto, so I literally have to pick him up on that one, but all the other rugs, he has no problems, just the one (it is almost like a shag and very thick for an area rug). If he could traverse steps and do all three floors, he would be perfect, so my husbands complaint is that it is so great, I want two more to do all three floors every morning. And the best of all, I don't worry about the dust any more. The only other thing I can say is to watch small thin cords like a thin antenna as those can get wrapped around. He does go over power cords with no problems.So, that is it. Keep him clean, learn where he gets stuck (low furniture and toilets)and you will LOVE IT and keep in mind that he does not do the dishes or laundy, but I can dream!!! I hope this helps if you are trying to make the decision.

Wow! This changed my life for the better. I simply cannot keep up with the pet fur and street dust coming into my house. I bought the 610 Professional, because it seemed better than the old version of the pet model available at the time. Sometimes it misses little crumbs buried in floor wood but that's not a big deal. It may get stuck, but I soon learned techniques to minimize that. Also, I find I can clean practically everything on the robot so I haven't had to replace brushes, etc. The brush cleaners are useless, tho. Tip: when you clean the main brush, make sure to pull off the yellow small end & get dirt out. That will prevent brush from suddenly becoming too long for its holder. Oh, my cats do occasionally turn it on by themselves :).
Our 3rd Roomba--best so far

1) Wish Roomba would pick up thread without tangling it, but that may be pie-in-the-sky.2) Roomba still gets stuck underneath cabinet overhangs, especially when rugs are present but not positioned perfectly. Still, the 610 is less prone than earlier models.3) Wish Scooba would employ or at least react to the same virtual walls as Roomba.
