Certainly the best deal on a stainless hood out there - [...]! (And I'm a ferocious deal hunter.) This hood looks great. It is a simple, functional hood, and looks great in our kitchen. We replaced a big unwieldy microwave-hood with this, and it makes out small kitchen look MUCH better. I'm not sure of the longevity or the grade of the stainless though - time will tell - but it looks great now. One note - I night not recommend this for a high install... If you look at the hoof from underneath it doesn't look like much. The light and fan/filter are relatively exposed and the underside is basically unfinished. It's fine, and painted black, but if it were a high install and normal sightlines would allow a full view of the undercarriage, I might opt for something else.

We have had one of these hoods for years. The alcoves --the hollow areas on either side of the blower up above the filters-- are impossible to keep clean. Also, oil and grease collects in the wells at the bottom of the filters, and the metal is sharp there, so it is easy to cut your fingers when wiping out those wells. A better design would eliminate nooks and crannies to make it as easy as possible to keep clean. The sliding on/off switch for lights is plastic and with repetitive use will one day snap, and it's expensive and a pain to repair, requiring complete disassembly of the unit and the purchase of an entire assembly, not just the broken part. That front panel should simply snap out to make such a repair, but it doesn't. The fan is relatively noisy when vented out the rear and running at or near top speed. It doesn't do a great job removing smoke such as when grilling a steak at a fairly high heat. The two small bulbs are in the front, and so the rear of the cooktop is not well lit. We bought the unit because of its size (33") but then Broan discontinued that size in the lineup.

Quiet range hood
Comments about Broan 41000 Series 30" Stainless Steel Hood:
I bought this new range hood to replace an existing Broan of the same model. What a difference 20 years makes with the quality. This new one is so quiet compared to the old one. The old one was still working fine. We just needed a new color to match the new appliances.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

About Me Avid Cook
Comments about Broan 41000 Series 30" Stainless Steel Wall Hood:
Replaced an older cream model as we changed to stainless steel appliances. Probably not the most powerful one out there but as long as you turn on prior to when you cook it seems to suck up all the steam.

Easy to install, and looks great
from Reynoldsburg, OH, USA
This is my second hood vent. It's the only one that fits in the space correctly. Looks great and is easy to install.
HARD TO FIND ITEM
from San Francisco, CA, USA
When I replaced my 30+ year old white electric range with a new black one, I wanted to change my white range hood for a matching black one.My condo is approximately 30 years old and was built without outside venting over the stove so I needed a non-ducted range hood. After an exhaustive search (pardon the pun) I finally located this Broan range hood in black. It is essentially an updated version of the 30 year old model.I had it installed professionally but watched the installation and could probably have done it myself. Very easy and quick. The fan in the updated model is not quite as powerful as the old one, but it still does a very good job of clearing up any smoke or cooking odors in my kitchen. It is fairly quiet, even on the higher speed.

About Me Casual Cook
Looks great. Very quiet. Could be a bit more powerful, but works good for what I need. Love that it is ventless since I have no vent to outside. Well worth the price!!!!
Shipped very wuickly. Believe I received it within 3 to 4 days of ordering.
Much better than the otr microwave combo I had
from Union, MO, USA
I have had microwave/exhaust hood combos for years, but when the last unit had its second magnetron go bad, I decided to switch back to just an exhaust hood. I like this much better as the exhaust is better and it is not as loud and the lighting is better. It also sets higher above the cooking area so I can see what I am doing better. This hood is fine and meets my needs quite well. I did buy the power cord rather than direct wiring. We had a difficult time getting a knockout plug removed as it apparently was not scored enough at the factory. We also had to add a filler board under our cabinets, but otherwise it installed fine. So overall I consider this to be better than what I was using before and would recommend this one to anyone looking for one.

COULD BE IMPROVED
from Stillwater, NY, USA
A little noisy. My smoke alarm 2 rooms away goes off, so it is really not as effective as the range hood I bought almost 40 years ago. The filter gets dirty easily and I don't like the fact that it is not washable. I was told by the salesman that I could not get a more powerful fan or filter. I wouldn't mind paying more for a better product, one that filters smoke and grease effectively, has a washable filter, and is a little quieter.

Looks ok and does the job, fair price but metal not as sturdy as my old one
from Halethorpe, MD 21227, USA
Biggest complaint is the hood arrived with a big dent in the back panel that rests against the wall above the stove. The carton was not damaged so it must have been packed that way. We were able to push the dent out enough to make it lay flat against the wall and that area does not show so we kept it. The metal is flimsy compared to my old hood but the color (bisque) matched my new stove perfectly. The noise level is lower than my old one but on the other hand the fan does not draw as well. It was a fair value for the price.
Would recommend with reservation
from Whitewater, WI
Overall it is easy to install, value is good but the noise level of the fan, in either speed is for to loud.If I could have actually heard it running before I bought it I would have continued to look more for a unit with a lower decibel level than this one..
