This is my fourth set of Duet washer/dryer combos, so I feel qualified to give a trustworthy review. I've followed the increasing quality/features of these Duets, and paid top dollar over and over again for what I thought was state-of-the-art function, only to lament why this or that wasn't included. Well, this washer seems to have fixed all that was wrong with the previous washers. Finally - a liquid detergent function that does not leak if you pour the liquid in for more than a minute before starting the load. Finally - a lighted drum for the washer. Finally - Fanfresh! (hadn't every other manufacturer previously introduced this in their top-end models?) And look - a way to program your own cycles - superb!! Precision dispense (and a way to adjust those settings dependent on your detergent and water hardness level), 1500 RPM extracts, water that goes "mostly" on the clothes, the amazing amount of wash cycles, and the LCD color panel are all amazing and deserved in this top-of-the-line model. Therefore, my quibbles are few - but I do have some.Whirlpool developers must work on a way to get water temperature up to proper temp for each cycle (many people live in places where hot water must run for a while to get hot, and Whirlpool needs some sort of sensor that works for this purpose). Some of the other Duets have "pretended" to have this but none appear to be getting it right. This is especially important for the cleaning (Affresh) cycle. Also, continue on getting more of water out the spout to pour directly on the clothes - too much water still pours onto the seal and/or the inside of the door. Also, the end-of-cycle "buzzer" is hardly a buzzer, and I ask for a return to (or at least an option for) something more brash and less melodic to signify that I need to get up and empty the washer. Is there a way we can make water draining quieter? It is still quite noisy. Also, the ability to program more than 7 custom cycles would be appreciated (I hit this limit the first day, when I washed everything I owned). Finally a way to upgrade functionality or screen colors/themes via USB (or some sort of connectivity) is needed at this point (other manufacturers have this capability).Other than these minor quibbles, Whirlpool really nailed it with this washer. If you're sitting on the fence about getting one, don't. You will not regret it. Just read the manual first, run clean cycles regularly, DON'T USE NON-HE DETERGENT, and leave the door open after every wash. They've really come a long way with these Duets since the 9100s and those belt-driven nightmares! Can' t wait to see what you do for Duet's 10th anniversary!

We had a Duet washer bought in 2002 we liked it and have always used HE soap, but recently it was not getting clothes clean, so we bought new Duet washer. We love the design and the jingle it plays when finished and the light up dial, and the pedalstal drawer and easy to unload , but we noticed that the clothes came out smelly and dingy or smelled of soap and the length of time for one wash is well over one hour.We tried extra rinse, we tried less soap, there are 4 pages of troubleshooting pages in the manual. Apparently washing clothes has become rocket science. We returned the washer and got a top load non HE Whirlpool(we like Whirlpool)which washes clothes in half the time and comes out clean.Maybe in 10 years, when time for a new washer, the HE technology will work, but for now we need a washing machine that gets the clothes clean.

This is my second set of Duets, first set purchased 18 years ago. I needed a larger capacity washer/dryer to accommodate a new laundry room remodel and enough room to wash my comforters. I was happy with my original Duets, so I didn't do a whole of research on other models other than pricing, and the Whirlpool Duets still remain competitive. Not only were my larger capacity Duets able to handle my large comforters, eliminating the need to hang out at the Laundromat, but virtually every feature has been improved upon. I no longer need to spend time soaking my heavily soiled items (although that feature is available) or add additional stain fighters. The spin feature is improved, and my clothes come out practically dry, less time in the dryer. The steam feature eliminates the need to iron or spend additional time drying small loads to remove wrinkles. My new Duets are not only more efficient, and great looking by the way, but they save me time and money, and more importantly, help simplify life in the laundryroom. What more could I ask for?

My husband and I were one of the last to buy a front end washer...if I had only known what I was missing. This machine does an excellent job of cleaning your close and is large enough to fit a king size comforter - without damaging anything!
Washer with Steam

I am still getting used to the cycles on this machine. There are many more selections. I have tried the steam feature and I think it does help with the wrinkling of our clothes.
Solid dryer, but comes out slightly damp

I love my new washer and dryer. The only complaint I really have is that the dryer doesn't completely dry some of my absorbent cotton clothes and sheets. For all the times I've washed my sheets in this dryer, they come out in a big twisted knot, or with a big ball of other garments inside the sheet. This causes the sheets to be imcompletely dried and I end up having to restart the machine 1-2 more times to dry the sheets completely. However, the dryer works well for synthetic, fast-drying clothes.

Great.. until an expensive F6 E2 error
from Corpus Christi, TX
I will never purchase from Whirlpool again. After 3 years of use in a 2-person (adult) household, the washer suddenly stopped working with an "F6 E2" error code. I unplugged / plugged in the machine, took off the top & checked connections, and let it sit overnight. Could not get it working.Speaking to a local repair technician via phone, he indicated it is likely the control board since Whirlpool replaced that part in their design (old part number: W10406632 new part number: W10427967). Before spending the money on a service call, he suggested I contact Whirlpool to see if it is under recall. I contacted Whirlpool's customer service. They told me the washer is not under recall and they will not do anything to assist. I can either pay to have it repaired or I may qualify to purchase their "Repair +1" service. How magnanimous of them.So we will spend over $300 to replace a part that Whirlpool obviously knows is flawed. We will consider this an expensive lesson learned. And Whirlpool (including Maytag, Kitchen-Aid, Jenn-Air, etc) will never get our business again.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I have had my new washer about a month.
from Moline, Illinois
I have had my new washer about a month. It replaced a Maytag washer that was 17 years old. I cannot believe how much less water my new washer uses. When I take the clothes out of the washer to put into the dryer, they almost feel dry. I did not get a stand initially because of washer/dryer placement. You will need a stand for sure as they sit very low to the ground. (I have ordered). I do not like the controls on the front of the machine as they are very sensitive and are activated often from just barely touching but I am hoping the stand will resolve that issue.
Great Washing machine

I bought this last April and LOVE it. I originally went for color and design. Love the ease of switching wash cycles and the steam option. My husband pours concrete and so far everything has come out remarkably clean! We do prop the door open to keep from getting a musty smell.
