This is my fourth set of Duet washer/dryer combos, so I feel qualified to give a trustworthy review. I've followed the increasing quality/features of these Duets, and paid top dollar over and over again for what I thought was state-of-the-art function, only to lament why this or that wasn't included. Well, this washer seems to have fixed all that was wrong with the previous washers. Finally - a liquid detergent function that does not leak if you pour the liquid in for more than a minute before starting the load. Finally - a lighted drum for the washer. Finally - Fanfresh! (hadn't every other manufacturer previously introduced this in their top-end models?) And look - a way to program your own cycles - superb!! Precision dispense (and a way to adjust those settings dependent on your detergent and water hardness level), 1500 RPM extracts, water that goes "mostly" on the clothes, the amazing amount of wash cycles, and the LCD color panel are all amazing and deserved in this top-of-the-line model. Therefore, my quibbles are few - but I do have some.Whirlpool developers must work on a way to get water temperature up to proper temp for each cycle (many people live in places where hot water must run for a while to get hot, and Whirlpool needs some sort of sensor that works for this purpose). Some of the other Duets have "pretended" to have this but none appear to be getting it right. This is especially important for the cleaning (Affresh) cycle. Also, continue on getting more of water out the spout to pour directly on the clothes - too much water still pours onto the seal and/or the inside of the door. Also, the end-of-cycle "buzzer" is hardly a buzzer, and I ask for a return to (or at least an option for) something more brash and less melodic to signify that I need to get up and empty the washer. Is there a way we can make water draining quieter? It is still quite noisy. Also, the ability to program more than 7 custom cycles would be appreciated (I hit this limit the first day, when I washed everything I owned). Finally a way to upgrade functionality or screen colors/themes via USB (or some sort of connectivity) is needed at this point (other manufacturers have this capability).Other than these minor quibbles, Whirlpool really nailed it with this washer. If you're sitting on the fence about getting one, don't. You will not regret it. Just read the manual first, run clean cycles regularly, DON'T USE NON-HE DETERGENT, and leave the door open after every wash. They've really come a long way with these Duets since the 9100s and those belt-driven nightmares! Can' t wait to see what you do for Duet's 10th anniversary!

This was an expensive purchase and we had high expectations for seeing improvements over our Maytag Neptune but were very disappointed in this washing machine for the following reasons:It would have been nice to provide some leadership in innovation of front loading washing machines by addressing mold mitigation and cleaning of lint. What happened to design and engineering? The washing machine requires that the door be left open for air drying. The rubber door gasket does not self drain, and collects lint etc. I do have a pet and have to remove hair from the rubber gasket. The precision dispenser door requires removal and drying to prevent mold.I was advised by the service tech the lower access panel was removed on this design making it very expensive to access the pump and pump filter. The controls are way too sensitive and can be inadvertently changed. It would have been nice for whirlpool to add a small low power fan to circulate air through the system to mitigate the build up of mold. The idea of having to purchase a specialty chemical cleaner to clean my machine and special cloth to wipe the door gasket seems like a poor way to solve an engineering issue.

Good washer, except
from Lancaster pa
Good washer, except it will not wash my 22 x 60 bath rugs. It is too heavy to spin. Surprisingly, the duet washer I bought in 2003 through 2016 was able to wash and spin out that Same size and type rug. I called whirlpool and they told me to flip the rug over in the wash but that did not help. Nor the other things they suggested. I had to throw out all my rugs. I had the same thing happen with a load of pants and it was not a very large load . Otherwise it is a good washer and I like the delay feature.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend
Bad odors and costly repairs
i bought this washer with a dryer and began to experience terrible mildew odors on anything that was washed. I was advised to leave the door ajar all the time and that did seem to help. the washer always had a funky bad smell in the water that was discharged. Jump forward 5 years and now the computer that controls the washer broke and the cost estimate to replace it was $450 and then may not even fix the problem. I also discovered that you cannot do anything manual such as spin dry some wet towels..so i guess i am not thrilled with this washer.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Major failure after 2 months.
Loved it until it broke, it won't spin fast enough and seams ldrum is out of balance robbing on one side of the internal parts.Just had technician visit today to confirm problem and major repairs to be scheduled.
Don't Buy It Or Any Other Whirlpool!

Called Whirlpool (WP) to schedule repair for my washing machine (bought September 2011). Drum stopped spinning and got error code F06/E01. WP set up an appointment with an authorized repairman. I got a call from the repair man telling me to disregard the date/time WP scheduled because they don't check with him first on his schedule. His WP rep tells him to leave his availability open-ended with them and then he can reschedule the job when he gets the order from WP. Pretty deceptive! I asked when he could get to me to repair my washer and he said "I don't know. WP pays me a flat fee for warranty work and it's not worth the money to come to your house unless I have other work in your area." He had no idea when he was going to be able to even look at my washer. This is EXTREMELY poor service.I called WP to reschedule my service with a different repair company (on hold for about 25 minutes) and was told it would take up to 2 days to find a new repairman because WP had to call other companies to see if they were available. I was told the computer system used to book my original appointment was different from the one this rep was using; therefore, it's not an easy switch to a different repairman and they had to call around. Sounds like a line to me.It appears there are several issues here. First, the hold times are absolutely absurd! I'm surprised they get repeat customers after they've had to attempt trying to contact them via phone. Although, I'm guessing it's one of their 'tactics' to try to get people to just give up. Second, they have a HUGE issue with scheduling warranty work (at least with the guy they gave me). And, to be told that "it's not worth his time to come and service my machine" is purely unprofessional and unethical. What are they trying to pull? Lastly, my product is only 4.5 years old. Heck, I can't even get an authorized repairman to my house to look at it to see what's wrong--I'm left troubleshooting it myself. DON'T BUY WHIRLPOOL!

Great Washing Machine!!
By Texas Yaya
I purchased the Whirlpool Duet washer and dryer when I moved into my house. With 9 people living in the same house, the machines are constantly running doing multiple loads daily for the past 10 years. Unfortunately, the washer gave out 3 months ago. I did not hesitate but went straight out and got the same type of washer! Why change to something I don't know? So I got myself another Whirlpool Duet washing machine! It is has been standing up to the multiple loads very well. It is a great product!
Excellent washer so far!

Excellent washer with many features - so many we don't use all of them. So far it seems to be one of the best after 5 months of ownership. Though, the initial start of the spin cycle seems to catch you off guard from the sound it makes. Otherwise, it's a great unit.

I absolutely love my washer. The delicate cycle is wonderful for my blouses with embellishments. I turned them inside out and wash them on the delicate cycle. No damage whatsoever to the sequins or the attachedstones. I love it.
