Comments about GE GTDX200EMWW White Electric Dryer:
This dryer came brand-new with my house purchased in 2013. It has stopped working for the 3rd time in 2 1/2 years; the 1st time while still under warranty. Very cheaply made. I have purchased old second-hand dryers that worked much better and lasted many years longer!
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

I purchased this dryer and didn't think about the fact that you can't turn off the buzzer. It's extremely loud and buzzes three times before stopping. It scares my dogs as well as drowns out the television. It's my fault that I didn't double check but you better believe, I'll never purchase another dryer that doesn't have an off button for the buzzer.

I bought my dryer with an extended warranty. I have had the knob replaced about 3 times. It comes loose with the wires. It is not abused just not very good connection and quality. These knobs should be replaced by the company since so many have complained about them. My warranty is out and, of course, my knob is loose again.
Not happy with this dryer

My landlord bought this dryer in April 2012. I don't use it often in the summer time. The start knob became loose and broke off. A service tech came to look at today and said he had to order the part. ( 5 to 7 day's for it to come in) I am very unhappy with this dryer. Maybe she should of done her research.
Dyer does a great job.

Absolutely love the light that comes on when you open the door! Only con is that the buzzer doesn't have an on/off or volume control.

Would not buy again
from Memphis, TN
After 2 months of use the start knob broke, had it replaced and it broke again, I now start it with needle nose pliers. Now it has stopped drying, it takes three to four complete cycles to dry. It does heat, there is no lint build up in the screen and the clothes stay wet, I checked for blockage in the duct, found none and the vent flap outside is up when drying
dependable but two annoying features
from New England
I am pleased with this dryer, but it has three annoying features: 1. It has an INCREDIBLY loud end of cycle buzzer, which goes off three times and is heard from one end of the house to the other. So forget about starting it before you go to bed or if you want not to jump out of your skin in the daytime. I have been looking on the web for how to open up the dryer and disconnect this. 2. The lint trap mesh is white, so it is hard to see just by glancing at it if it needs to be cleaned. In my old dryer, the mesh was metal colored, so the whitish lint was easy to see. 3. It has a light that comes on when the door is open. I like to leave the door open so I know I've emptied the dryer (it's in a laundry closet, so the door slightly open is no problem.) With this light, I feel like I'm wasting electricity, and the light is unnecessary anyway.
NOT MAKING THEM LIKE THEY USED TO
I bought this same model for my other house 3 years ago and was so very pleased with everything about it, but I recently bought a new home with all new GE appliances and am very diappointed. This dryer, the lint trap, is so thin and flimsy (as compared to the same version I bought just 3 years ago), that 50% of the lint is getting through and the lint trap has started to lose its form from pulling it out to empty it (normal use) because of its lack of rigity. Also, they removed the option not to use the audible signal. I hate that buzzer!!! In addition, on the old model I used to be able to set the timer when I was throwing the clothes in the washer (so when the wash was done I could just throw it in the dryer and turn on the dryer) but unlike the older version, this timer runs whether the dryer is running or not!! very disppointed in this version of this model, and I WANT A FUNCTIONING LINT TRAP!

Great Bang For The Buck
from Colorado, USA
This US made appliance is a great value. We purchased this along with a new GE washer when moving into our new home. I have had several GE washers & dryers over the years and have never had a problem with any of them. In fact, I only purchased new ones when we have moved. This dryer is a great combination of price and features. It has more options than the 100 series, but still can be had for a great price. It dries well and the lint filter is easy to clean. The dryer is well made and has a large capacity. I have to say that my experience with GE appliances, and the fact that they are built in America, keeps me coming back. The lower price compared to the import brands is just an added incentive.
