This dryer is as easy to use as the matching washer. My seven year old can use this without wrinkling all the clothes. The Wrinkle prevent cycle is helpful when you can't attend to the dryer right away and is still more energy efficient than other models. It runs quiet and the flexibility of the cycles is great. I can put delicates to comforters in the dryer without worry.

Overall the dryer has been fair. The quality of workmanship however has proven to be poor. I about one year ago had the motor mount housing for the blower/fan fail resulting in the unit needing repaired to move the heated air. Now I have the Drums weld fail near the door as did Jim from Ontario in a previous review. Like Jim I contacted Maytag Customer Experience Center to be informed that they are sorry but that the unit had a one year warranty from the date of purchase. Obviously, the decade of dependability for years to come that is advertised...coming with every model covering key components does not apply to the Maxima's "Maytag Commercial Technology" High-Efficiency Electric Dryer. I am a single parent with a now 3 year old child...do not think I come close to being compared to a commercial user. Fuzzy advertising saying that "Maytag doesn't just talk about dependability- we back it up." Buyer be ware!

Maytag Workmanship on drum weld
(1 of 1 customers found this review helpful)
from Dixon, Missouri
I purchased my Maxima in August of 2013 and LOVED it until October of 2016 when it started to make noises. After diagnosing the problem as the belt letting the drum rub to make the noise. The belt and rollers were replaced making it quieter. Not as quiet as it was when new. Maybe this is because the drum is slightly oval and not perfectly round. I noticed this while the drum was removed and back rollers were being installed. I am a fan of Maytag and have had previous dryers last over 25 years. I hope this one does too. It has so many nice features that until recently I would have been singing its praises.
Drum Failed, cracked at a weld point.
from Ontario Canada
HelloOverall the dryer has not been bad. However, after 4 years the Drum has cracked around the weld by the door.I have contacted Maytag and the rep at customer service said this was odd. I do see though a few reviews back another consumer has posted the same issue, cracked drum. Just to note, I have never used the dryer for anything other then towels, clothes, that is nothing heavy. Maytag says only 1 year warranty, yet I have read reviews online that says it is 1 year, however drum and drive on the dryer is 10 years. As well I found a picture that has a sticker on the door of dryer that says 10 year on drive motor and drum. So, which is it???
Dryer Drum Cracks
from Southern Ontario Canada
Bought in mid 2012.Almost to the month 4 years later, the dryer drum cracked. Makes some noise like an MRI when it runs, then noticed a crack by a weld point. Just to note, never used to dry anything other then towels clothes. That is, nothing like shoes or anything that may damage the drum.Bought the Maytag because was told the washer dryer has a 10 warranty on major parts. Called Maytag, and was told that ONLY the washer has 10 years on drum, motor etc. The dryer, well ONLY 1 year warranty. NOT what I was shown at the time of purchase. in Essex Ontario.

Do not buy!!! I bought the Washer and Dryer in April of 2012 The dryer has had to have the drum roller replaced and the Washers main screw that holds the drum in place snapped:(
Does not heat

This dryer is less than three years old and it does not heat.

Yes, it dries my clothes fine. Problem is - I had it 2 years and now I have a $500 repair bill because the weld in the drum failed. Welds shouldn't fail! If they do, it's because it wasn't done properly.
