We purchased this washer in Aug, 2011and have no regrets. It cleans very well, better than our old agetator washer. It is very easy to load, the options you can select from is far superior to most all washers in this price range. Looked at a front loader, and this made more sense as I wasn't stooping all the time to unload and I didn' t have to buy a $200+ pedistal. I've washed large loads such as our comforter, and smaller loads like a single shirt and they both came out great. Less time to dry. You have to read the manual. This is different than what you're used to.

This washer is, without a doubt, the WORST purchase I've ever made. AWFUL! Unless you wash everything on "Bulky", your clothes don't get clean. I've had clothes come out of the washer with dirt still on them! That means, to me, that water didn't even touch them since the dirt and clothes were not even damp. But, washing everything on Bulky has added about 40% to my monthly water bill. Also, if you don't balance everything JUST RIGHT, the washer will just shut off. It's loud and, even on bulky, doesn't do HALF the job that my 25 year old "other brand" washer did. I wish I could have brought that with us when we moved. If I could give this ZERO stars, I definitely would have. I dread doing laundry now, but I'm stuck with it since we paid a fortune for it! So, like the title says, if you're thinking about possibly purchasing this piece of junk, do yourself a favor and DON'T!

need to replace main control board for the second time in 4
from Milwaukee, WI
Comments about Maytag Bravos X HE MVWX600XW White Top Load Washer:
The machine works well when it's working. We replaced the main control board last July and now we need to replace it again - in a machine that is less than 5 years old. I've contacted Maytag customer service; and they will do nothing to help because the machine is out of warranty. We've owned 2 refrigerators, 1 dishwasher, 2 washer & dryer sets; all Maytag, but they've lost a customer now - because they aren't willing to replace this part, or at least offer a discount. I'm very unhappy with the situation - we replaced the first control board thinking it was a fluke; but having to replace it again in 9 months is unacceptable.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Way too many noises

Overall satisfied but not this water and energy conserving unit is the best way to go. It does seem to get the clothes clean so that's more important than noises.

WASTE OF MONEY FOR A TOTALLY INFERIOR PRODUCT
from Lexington, KY, United States
MOST DISAPPOINTING PURCHASE, EVER!! WISH I'D NEVER BOUGHT THIS INFERIOR PIECE OF JUNK WHICH COSTS ME MORE TO OPERATE BECAUSE MANY LOADS MUST BE REWASHED IN ORDER TO GET CLEAN

purchased approx. 1 month ago and not happy with performance. wash cycle takes a long time to complete. does not do a good job of removing water in spin cycle.

I bought this for my new home and absolutely love it. It performs well
I will never buy a Bravos again.
from Clarksville, MI, United States
My family owns 3 Bravos machines between my mom and my sister and I. This washer is so concentrated on saving water, that it does not provide enough to do a thorough job. My husband's work clothes come out almost as dirty as they go in. My mom and sister have the SAME problem. We have even had repair technicians come out to see if something is wrong. Result? Not enough water to actually clean the clothes. If the machine is opened after the filling, the clothes are higher than the water! How can anything get clean this way? I actually add water to the cycle manually to try to get the job done. We are all VERY disappointed. It's the first time I bought a new appliance and can't wait for it to die so I can get a new one.
nothing but problems

Big step up

This washer replaced a 20 year old Whirlpool top loader. Cleaning is EXCELLENT. It seems to be a little bit hard on the clothes. The machine has 2 annoying features: The lid is not see through so you cannot tell what the machine is doing, when the machine is off and the lid is raised the machine comes on--VERY ANNOYING. If it provides the same length of trouble free service as the Whirlpool it will be a good buy. Time will tell.
Not a good design, especially being a Maytag.
from East Tennessee
Brand loyalty worked against me on the Maytag Bravos. Functions as designed but these machines are more focused on some efficiency rating over actual function. No matter what problem you have you'll be told it is normal operation, but no matter the load size clothes just don't move through like they should unless you go for the "bulky" tank filler option. JUNK. POOR PERFORMANCE. I've tried for over a year to get used to this machine but I hate it, hate it, hate it. I'll take the loss and go buy a decent front loader.
Poor Machine Design Destroys longevity
from Carmichael, CA
This machine was touted to us everywhere we went as an energy saver. It is not an inexpensive machine. We got used to the weird noises it makes, but after the first two years, the plastic gears went bad. A well qualified repairman told us that Maytag designed this larger machine with gears that were made for a much smaller machine. The bottom line is that we would have to pay almost $600. to have the gears replaced and in another two years we would likely have the same problem again. We will be switching brands.
