Features:

Speed & Quality

  • Terrific Resolution — This level of quality is achieved by 4800 x 12007 maximum color dpi thanks to Canon Full-photolithography Inkjet Nozzle Engineering (FINE) with a patented print head firing ink droplets as small as 2pl. This delivers superb quality and detail in both your business documents and photos.
  • High Performance Ink Cartridges — These two genuine Canon ink cartridges contain specially-formulated inks for great document and photo quality. One is a black & white cartridge for laser-quality text and one is a multi-color cartridge for pictures. Both are easy to use and replace.
  • EasyPhoto-Print EX — Your days of driving to the store or waiting on long lines at a kiosk to print your photos are over. Do it yourself at home with your Canon PIXMA printer! Print as many images as you want on photo paper up to 8.5" x 11". You can even print multiple pictures on one page. Plus, with one touch of your mouse, EasyPhoto-Print automatically crops images, corrects red-eye, smoothes facial lines and skin tone and even brightens and sharpens faces.
  • Images Per Minute (IPM) — In March 2009, the International Standards Organization implemented a print standard for inkjet printer document print speeds which is a universal measure utilizing three types of standardized test documents in "real world" conditions - one, four page Excel document, one - four page Word document and one-four page PDF document. This new standard will allow you to easily compare the print speeds of printers manufactured by different companies.

Ease of Use

  • Fully-Integrated Auto Document Feeder — The built-in 30 sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) makes it easy to copy, scan or fax multiple documents without having to load them one at a time. Its full integration makes it easier to fit into tight spots and once it's loaded it lets you do, well whatever you want.
  • Dual Color Gamut Technology — Copy with confidence as this built-in technology automatically optimizes your originals so copies stay true to it, time after time, copy after copy.
  • Auto Scan Mode — Automatically recognizes the type of original, then scans and saves the suitable settings8. Quick Start — Powering up your printer is now faster than ever. After pressing the power button you can begin inputting commands in approximately two seconds. So, full operation is possible in a much shorter time.
  • Auto Photo Fix II — This built-in technology automatically categorizes your images into one of five types - Portrait, Scenery, Night Scenery, Snapshot with Scenery, and Snapshot with Night Scenery - then applies optimal image and multi-zone exposure correction. So, unexposed areas of the photo will be optimized, area by area and faces that are backlit and under-exposed will automatically be brightened with correct color cast to help ensure more accurate skin tones for gorgeous images.
  • Easy-WebPrint EX — Your days of driving to the store or waiting on long lines at a kiosk to print your photos are over.

For the price point, this printer offers a lot of value. It is truly all-in one and is capable of photo quality printing as well. That and the wireless capability made this purchase a no-brainer. Installation took me about 40 minutes. Canon did its homework - the installation guide covers practically every question you might have, with one exception. They don't mention until the end that you can print the mac address (and other info) for the printer from a menu option. Since I use a mac address filter on my wireless router, I had to disable it temporarily to get the printer going without knowing the address. Having used it only a week or so, reliability and ink consumption are impossible to judge. However, using it could not be easier. Printing is just like a corded printer, copying was easy to figure out without looking at the manual. Some of the scanning and faxing features will probably require a look at the manual, which is installed on your PC with the printer setup. Canon did not scrimp on buttons or labels on the control panel. No need to guess the meaning of arcane symbols or go through button gymnastics to get the most common features. When not in use for awhile, it seems to take a nap; and when you wake it up, it takes about 40 seconds for the first sheet to enter the printer. After it is awake, it takes about 13 seconds for the first sheet to start printing. These seem like acceptable delays for power saving when not in use. The MX340 is noticeably noisier than the MP610, but not much different from our old major brand ink jet printer that is much slower, requires a cord, and cannot scan, fax or copy. Some people say it is on the large side. I think it's perfect. Overall, I love this printer. It is a great value, with every feature I ever hoped for in one machine.

I found this printer very easy to set up as a wireless printer, IF you ignore the recommendation in the setup guide that if your network has WEB skip to page 35. Don't do that, just follow along, insert the CD and follow its directions. It installs itself including the WEP password by connecting the printer to your PC during setup and it reads the WEP directly from your PC. The necessary cable to do this is included with the printer. Once its setup remove the cable and its a completely wireless, network printer. Decent printing, easy to use. My biggest gripe which caused me to downgrade my satisfaction is that the small LCD screen has no backlight requiring as external overhead light source to read it. This is particularly irksome during installation when you have to continually read the LCD screen during setup until you get to the part where you insert the CD into your PC. Then again when using the device as a FAX or Printer you need to rely on the LCD screen. With a backlight I would have rated my satisfaction much higher.

Workhorse that has stood the test of time

    By

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Canon Pixma All-In-One Inkjet Office Printer:

I originally bought this printer because I have a Canon digital camera, and know it's a generally reliable brand. It was also reasonably priced, and was a TRUE all-in-one. Where I live, having a real fax machine is critical. The software provided by Canon makes printing and maintaining a breeze. I love being able to do everything from my Windows machines. Like most equipment, the key to longevity is to keep the printer clean and well maintained. Unlike many printers, I've had no problems with ink clogging or "gunking up" when it sits for a while. I used a 3rd party cartridge once, and while it worked okay, I've found the Canon XL cartridges to be efficient and work excellent. They are also less expensive than many of the newer models. I've had no problem printing using my mobile devices either. I have 20+ years of experience in IT, and while I have considered replacing this printer on a couple occasions, simply because I have had it for several years, I've yet to find another that will work well enough to justify the expense. The ink is still readily available, and it works wonderfully with everything I need to use it with. Unlike other users, I have *never* had a problem with connectivity with this printer. I connect it to my wireless network, and it stays connected and readily available. The few times there has been a problem connecting, it turned out to be on the computer end, a result of driver updates etc. Removing and reinstalling the printer generally solved the problem.

    No LAN connector

    By

    from Undisclosed

Comments about Canon Pixma All-In-One Inkjet Office Printer:

While the features of this printer are great, I am amazed that Canon chose not the provide the capability to connect this printer to a physical network. There is no network connection (LAN) port. Sure, it comes with a built-in WiFi - so does my thermostat - but the WiFi connection is flaky at best. The printer almost always appears to be offline. I usually have to recycle the printer to bring it back online Perhaps this is a driver issue? I do see the issue from both my Windows 7 laptop and my MacBook. Besides, I prefer not to use the slower WiFi connection to stream a large print job to the printer. .

    Durable, Long Lasting

Comments about Canon Pixma All-In-One Inkjet Office Printer:

Stands the test of time. Similar to an SUV that uses lots of gas, it does seem to go through ink a LITTLE more quickly than its peers. But a real good multi purpose wireless device, easy to use as well.

Not the Most User Friendly Printer!

    By

    from North Carolina

Comments about Canon Pixma All-In-One Inkjet Office Printer:

This product is fine if you don't mind baby sitting the process. Paper feeding can be expected to double up and/or jam so you need to stand near and send the sheets in one at a time. Of course one element which is common to nearly all printers is that the printer is inexpensive. The big surprise comes when you go to buy the cartridges. Merchandising at its best!

    Avoid!

    By

    from Menlo Park, CA

Comments about Canon Pixma All-In-One Inkjet Office Printer:

I've owned this printer for about a year. At first it worked well, but after about two weeks its reliability went away. Sometimes it works fine, but most of the time it doesn't. Among its many hobbies are: manhandling paper to cause paper jams, identifying ink cartridges as always being on the verge of emptiness, wifi that works if you're only 2 feet from the printer, and requiring you to supervise its every move, because chances are it's going to fail.
