My previous washer was a Whirlpool that lasted me for 17 years of heavy use so it was natural for me to look again to Whirlpool for a replacement. I checked out the features of other washers and was not satisfied with what they had to offer. This unit is 3.4 cu. ft. with a white porcelain wash basket and has 8 cycles. Some units today use plastic. It has a temperature management system, 4 selectable water levels and a delicate cycle. It is much quieter than my old unit. I've been using the Whirlpool for 2 months now and am very pleased. I hope it will last me as well as my old Whirlpool.

When you buy a Whirlpool product you expect quality that will last at least 5 years or more. My parents always bought Whirlpool so when I bought my washer and dryer I trusted their brand to be quality. I am a single mother of four children and this is not the first set of machines I have bought. My first set was destroyed in hurricane Katrina, second set sold when my ex-husband was shipped over seas, so naturally I bought Whirlpool for my third set as well. I will not buy Whirlpool again if this is the quality of product they are making now. I start the machine and it will only go through the wash cycle then stops leaving the machine full of water and soaking clothes. VERY DISAPPOINTED!

A low income agency bought this washing machine for us October 29 2012 when our old one quit on us. We are extremely low income and needed the help to get it. We brought it home on Nov. 1, 2012. It was extremely quiet and working properly until last week. During the spin cycle it started making a horrible racket, especially with slightly larger loads, and we keep our loads really small. Our loads don't even fill our washer half full. Just at half full it was making that horrible racket, and it had never done that before. It also was not spinning th e water out. We have called a repair man, but after some reviews we have read on line, I don't even know if Whirlpool will agree to fix it. they may end up throwing the responsibility back on us. What's really odd is that we quit using it for about a week because of the problems it was having and since we did not have the money at all for the laundromat, we did our clothes the old fashioned way--by hand. We just did a test with the thing to see if it was still having issues and now the thing seems to have somewhat corrected itself, but it still is making a slight bit of noise, which is still abnormal for it because it never made the noise before. It is also now draining the water out, but I just got done washing one blanket, and the blanket is not as dried out as it should be. It is still wet enough that I feel the water on it. I also do not like the lid lock feature on this washing machine. We are a family of 4 adults and we really can do without the lid lock feature. It should be an option, not a regular feature. My husband and I have decided to buy a good refurbished washing machine for back up just so that we can wash our clothes if this thing goes down again.

GREAT COMMENT:
Including the extra rinse cycle eliminates an extra trip to the basement.

BAD COMMENT:
Basket is to deep for short people to reach easily.
The instruction book is not specific enough on how to operate the machine efficiently.
Instructions don't tell you how to restart the machine if you have to interupt the cycle.

I went back to a top loader after having a front loader for quite a while and I had forgotten how much water a top loader uses. The tub in this model is very big and I like that there are 4 water levels so I only use what is needed. I don't feel that enough water is spun out on the spin cycle so my dryer time has increased. I have also noticed more lint in the dryer since using this new washer - perhaps it is the agitator which was absent in my front loader. Overall, clothes come out clean and the wash cycle times are acceptable. I am happy with this model but will most likely go back to a front loader on my next purchase.

Received this machine and immediately starting using it. Was surprised by the noises it makes, but the INSTRUCTIONS said these noises would occur. Did a full load of towels first and it handled them beautifully. It does take a bit longer in the Normal/Normal cycle and Casual/Normal cycle (a little over an hour, as opposed to 35 mins.) so that is a bit annoying. The Normal/Light and Casual/Light cycles are about 45 mins. So in the 'energy efficient' area, that may not be an improvement. HOWEVER, that does not take away from the machines performance. It does the job for which it was manufactured - it cleans clothes. I have used it with the fabric softener on, with and without the extra rinse and have used the bleach dispenser. All work wonderfully. I have been able to stop the washer during the wash and rinse cycle by pushing the start button briefly. I am able to open the lid while the washer is filling to add more items if needed and I also add my soap then. The lid only locks once the agitation in the wash cycle has begun. This washer has an over 4.3 satisfactory rating, so those who have had a bad experience with this machine either have not READ THE INSTRUCTIONS properly or got a lemon machine.

It takes a little getting used to, but it does a great job. It is wonderful to have so many features. Love being able to set an extra rinse, and extra water when using fabric softener. Love it.

We have owned a whilpool washer for as long as I can remember. When the last one gave out after many years of heavy use, we looked for the same model. This one was as close as we could get and except for the safety features that drive us nuts (like the locking lid), it is almost the same machine. So far so good!

I like the set up of the washer`s controls. The status bar give you a quick view of where the cycle is. It does have some odd operating sounds but they are not so loud that you would hear it in another room. The load balancing works very well as the our washer is on the second floor and we do now feel any vibrations down stairs. So far so good. I think it is a very good washer for the price.
