Despite all the negative reviews, I decided to go with my gut and buy this washer. My mother has this washer and I had to use it when mine broke and I liked how it worked. I got my washer installed at 10:30 am today and I have already washed 6 loads. The washer is not loud, it cleans my clothes well and efficiently. For all the bad comments about the time it takes to wash 1 load, I don't find that the length of time to wash a load on light or even normal took that long, no longer than my other washer took. As for the locking feature, big deal, when you want to open it, you push the button and it unlocks. Close the lid and press the button again and it begins again. I love the fact that it automatically balances my load before it begins to wash because it literally has ended my trips to the basement to balance my wet clothes when it spins. I am satisified with the 4 water temperatures, 4 levels of clothes washing and the variety of cycles to choose from, including a heavey duty cycle. And since this is 2012, of course it is going to be energy efficient, therefore all the features of balancing, fill up and wash cycles are created this way to help save energy and water for you! I don't agree with all these negative comments about this washer and the few that had specific issues must have been washer specific and they may have received a defected one. I am very happy that I bought this Whirlpool washer and I would recommend it!

possibly the worst washer

I have to question that who ever designed and created this washer was a busy parent of multiple children. This is by far the worst and most inefficient washer machine. For one, I cannot stand the fact that you have to 'balance' your load EVERY time you do a load of laundry. Weather it's a large or small load, I have to wait forever and rearrange the load(while getting soap on my hands) multiple times before the washer actually decides to start and load. Also, I can understand that washers might need the safety feather of locking their lids, but you can't fill the washer up and add clothes as you go, before balancing. Therefore, when it comes time to balance the load, your hands are covered in soap and is just a mess. Plus you can't add clothes after you started the washer without waiting for a few minutes for it to unlock. I promise you, by the time I get done messing around with the load and the idiotic 'balance' system, I could of done a load of laundry. This is definitely the worst washer machine out there and would not recommend it to anyone or any clothes washing service.

I like the set up of the washer`s controls. The status bar give you a quick view of where the cycle is. It does have some odd operating sounds but they are not so loud that you would hear it in another room. The load balancing works very well as the our washer is on the second floor and we do now feel any vibrations down stairs. So far so good. I think it is a very good washer for the price.

So, I was looking for a new washer for about two weeks. Couldn't find the right washer . My mom recommended whirlpool because she had has whirlpool appliances for many years and they are the best products out there.. So I did the choice and went and got my washer... Nothing buy the best..its super silent and gentle my clothing...love it!!!

This is a pretty good product. We bought this because we were in need of a washer. The price we paid was more than we wanted to pay. I think it can be less expensive. It did get us out of a jam, but only problem I find is that it moves pretty slow. Features are easy to read but could use a few more options. Overall this is not a bad product to buy. It does do it's job, then again we have only had it for a couple months. We have a big family so reliability is key for us but so far so good.

It lacks unnecessary bells and whistles. This is a plus. Seems to clean things quite well. Simple adjustment for water temperature and load size. The "Done" llight is a nice touch. We found the start up noises, which they make a point of telling you about (even noting them inside the lid) are inoffensive, and almost entertaining once you are used to them. If they save water and energy, all the better. We'll see what it does to water and energy usage, but empirically the higher spin rate seems to squeeze out more water and shorten drying times. It looks like a washing machine, not a "home design element". It cleans close efficiently. It was reasonably priced. It is simple to operate. If those are your criteria

I really like the cycles offered on my Whirlpool washer, especially the ability to set an automatic extra rinse. I don't want residue left in my just-washed clothes and this feature makes sure that that does not happen. The dryer has cycles offering degrees of dryness that have not shrunk or discolored any item we dry. I am really thankful for my Whirlpool, American-made, washer/dryer duo.
