Purchased Jan. 2011. Love the clean and simple lines of this DW. It is easy to keep clean. I use it about 3x week, and it does a great job on dishes, etc., tho I do tend to rinse pretty thoroughly before loading. The removeable utensil basket was a dealbreaker so this is a definite plus. There is a learning curve for achieving the best loading, but suspect that is true for any new DW. At startup, it makes some pretty loud banging noises, but it then quietens down. Now I don't notice that at all. Does a good job of drying, with some water left on the tops of cups that I feel is normal. The only real concerns: the top drawer feels flimsy when opening and closing, and that leaning against the DW activates the controls.

When filling, the unit makes a loud thumping noise that comes from the fill valve closing and opening rapidly. The noise can be heard throughout the house and resembles pipe rattling when a faucet is closed. The black plastic hot water intake line inside the dishwasher pulsates violently, but the water lines to the D/W are fine. After a few minutes, the wash cycle then goes normally.

badly designed top rack makes loading difficult and time consuming. Bottom rack could use a larger space in the back of the rack for placing small pots sideways.

This dishwasher is used in an office every night. I'm glad it's quiet for daytime use. The drying could be a little better, but its works. I would recommend to a friend, and if I needed a dishwasher, I would purchased a KitchenAid product.

This is my second KitchenAid and I really like it. It is very quiet and easy to load. The rinse agent section is really easy to fill. The one thing is that the buttons are very sensitive and I accidentally turn it on from time to time.

The rack inside is not heavy duty. The buttons go off too easily, so it is possible to have the machine go off unintentionally. Overall, not a very well made product. Seems bottom of the line.

Comments about KitchenAid Classic Series Black Built-In Dishwasher:

Very, very quiet. Long cycle typical of modern dishwashers. Cleans very thoroughly. Plenty of capacity for our large family. Controls are extremely sensitive; accidental light contact starts cycle, and is very annoying. I use Jet Dry product regularly, and have no film or deposit problems. I researched long before purchasing this dishwasher, and after a year's use, I am completely satisfied. If I were to make one change, it would be the angle of the upper prongs. It's a bit difficult to get larger glassware set correctly. A minor inconvenience.

Worst dishwasher I've ever owned! It just bakes the Pam reside on to pie plates, coffee reside onto mugs and lipstick onto wine glasses. Awkward to load as shelves don't slide easily.

Comments about KitchenAid Classic Series Black Built-In Dishwasher:

This dishwasher was put in our home by the builder, it's only 3 months old and I already want to replace it. If you lean on the door, it starts. Even with Jet Dry, it leaves a nasty, hazy film on our dishes (like dishwashers from the 1980's did). It doesn't clean the dishes if any food residue is left on them. I find myself rewashing most of our dishes by hand and not using it as I usually would use a dishwasher (at least 1 load a day).
Our model doesn't have a delayed function (which is extremely outdated in today's world). I HATE this dishwasher and would love to have the GE Dishwasher I had in our rental home for the last 3 years. DON'T BUY THIS PRODUCT if you have a family and need a reliable, hard-working dishwasher

I need to run the unit another hundred cycles or so before I decide if it's above average. It's certainly better than our broken down Asko was but it seems that there are places it misses if things aren't loaded just right on the racks. Loading is different than Asko and Bosch, the racks are not as tapered to particular types of dishes. I'm not ready to give this unit a thumbs up or down. Still getting to know it. Hope it lasts longer than the last two (Only 4 years each)which is why I am so disappointed with dishwashers. .
