I use my new dishwasher almost everyday. I love how big the inside is and how I can move my upper and lower racks around to accommodate large pans. The silverware basket is great. The basket has removable tops to keep small items contained during the wash cycle. I love how quiet it is in my small kitchen. I read my manual and follow directions. The control panel is so sensitive, I barely have to touch it. I'm thrilled to own this machine. I forgot to order a control panel with a rinse and hold cycle, but I just use a quick short wash, and press cancel drain. I'm so happy to have this machine.

I had an old top of the line KitchenAid dishwasher that was 18 years old. It worked great execept the top dish rack rusted out and I could not find the part to replace it. My old KitchenAid was made in the good old USA and when I called KitchenAid to find the replacement part they told me 1) the part is no longer being manufactured and 2) hold on to this unit as long as I could because I will not be able to find the build quality like my old unit. So I held on for another 2 years till the rack fell apart. When the rack finally gave way - I had to replace my old KitchenAid. After weeks of research I decided to purchase the KitchenAid KUDS30ix based on my fist KitchenAid experience on build quality. I was sold on the KUDS30ix front panel display, the fact it had a food disposal, and a number of other features like my old KitchenAid. Since I upgraded my old oven and went stainless steel - I also went for that option as well- stainless steel. Out of the box the unit looked very nice, however I could tell by the weight and components of my new KitchenAid it was not built as well as my old unit. After installation and the first run of the unit the water would not drain - the only way to get the dishwasher to drain was to hit cancel/drain. That did the trick for a week and now the unit will not even drain. Also, 2 blue lights are stuck on - "Hi-Temp Scrub" and "3-Ho ur Delay". When the unit did clean my dishes it did not clean well. It left a white residue from the dish-washing liquid. I used a top name dish-washing detergent brand/pre-rinse and rinse-aid as suggested. This was the same dishwashing detergent I have been using for years in my old KitchenAid and I never had a problem.. So the white residue I feel is not due to hard-water or dish washing products. [...] I have already purchased another dishwasher a Maytag - MDB8959AWS. It has all the features of the KitchenAid and has been very highly rated by most people who have purchased the unit. The motor is also to be stronger then the KitchenAid's which I now know is a very important feature manufactures don't tell you about. Try and find on product literature - you cannot find and compare dishwashers.I was warned by a friend who purchased a similar KitchenAid unit and was very unhappy with the performance of her KitchenAid. I wish I had listened to her..... This brand has gone way downhill since manufacturing in China. The same may hold true for Maytag - at least the motor is stronger however.

Good at first, not good now (2.5 years)

Comments about KitchenAid Superba Series Stainless Steel Built-In Dishwasher:
I bought this dishwasher 2.5 years ago and it worked very well at first. Dishes were clean and the machine was quiet while washing. Within a month of the 1 year warranty expiring, the pump died and the washer started making a grinding noise. At the same time, the 'axle' on the plastic rack adjuster broke. Since this time, I have had to replace the upper rack adjuster several times due to the failure of the plastic axle. Recently Kitchen Aide released a new part to replace this faulty piece, so problem solved. In the last two months, the dishwasher has not been cleaning the dishes, along with being very loud while not cleaning them. I'm very disappointed in this dishwasher and had expected it to last much much longer than it has based on the amount I paid for it.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Lasted 2.5 Years

It does clean well,, but has been giving trouble for the past six months. Sometimes it runs, sometimes not. At first figured it was the power supply so I kept testing the circuit, nope. Finally yesterday it quit except to drain briefly when I hit switched power off/on.I called the store where I purchased it, they have been bought out by a larger outfit, so now will cost me more than half of what I paid initially to have it fixed. I took it apart to see what was up, noticed the formerly white harness between the touch panel and the main circuit board is now quite brown. The front harness is half melted into the black sound insulation fastened to the inside front of the door. I would not trust my home to this thing so out it goes, what a shame. This is my second Kitchenaid, we remodeled ergo all new Kitchenaid appliances. My old dishwasher is still in the garage, if wife allows me, I'll reinstall it, the other one is going for scrap. Seems the quality components are no longer there, too bad.

Poor quality and bad design
We owned this dishwasher from 2011-15 and it lasted only 4 years. Within years 1 and 2 the lock broke twice. At year 4 the electronics panel died and the cost to fix was well over $300 plus parts. Our previous 22 year old Kitchenaid still worked well when we replaced it to get this quieter and prettier model...big mistake. We kept hearing that today's dishwashers are all plastic and don't last long, so we just bought a much cheaper Whirlpool and paid extra for the 5 year warranty. We'll probably be lucky to get 5 years out it it.
Not a good buy

I have had this for 2.5 years. The dishwasher broke and it cost nearly as much to to fix as it did for the original purchase.
JUNK, DO NOT BUY

Upper rack rarely works, had to replace one roller $225,that was my direct online parts price. I will never buy KitchenAid again. Had it serviced 2x in first year, then roller replacement I did myself after warranty. We usually have to run each load twice.
The dishwasher is unreliable
The dishwasher frequently freezes and can only be reset by shutting power off to the dishwasher.Support for the products is poor at best. Replacement parts (such as the glass rack adapter) are shipped without installation instructions. the kitchen aid part is out of stock but they will sell you the Whirlpool part for $5.00 more.
Piece of junk

Have replaced the rollers twice on top rack. Now the dishes are not getting clean. Checked the wash arms and neither one moves during a wash cycle. My guess is pump is shot. Waiting for service man to verify. 16 months old and I'm sure no longer under warranty!
Very unhappy with this dishwasher
By Unhappy in IL
Although it is quiet and does a great job with the pot scrubber option on the lower rack, that is about all the good I can say. I had to replace the top shelf hardware within months of purchase with METAL parts that should have been used from the start. Now, nothing on the top rack gets clean at all, but the bottom rack is fine. Little clips and tine supports fall off easily, As others have noted, the controls are way too touchy, just barely brushing one activates it. This dishwasher is less than 2 years old.

Simply unreliable product
By Mike Molecule

Our KUDS30IXSS was purchased just over 2 years ago. The latch went defective after 1 year, got it repaired for a couple of hundred bucks. Today (2 years after purchase) the unit is dead, won't power up and is full of water. We are planning on getting ANYTHING except a KitchenAid. Simply unreliable.
