Terrible awful washer. It agitates way, way too slow. I wanted an agitator machine because they seem to clean blankets and pet bedding better, this washer leaves them dirty and with little balls of hair all over them. I hate it! Huge waste of money.. thanks GE for selling me junk.

It does not have any fancy electronics that i'm sure would break. More than enough settings for most users. Very happy with unit.

Comments about GE GTWN4000 White Top Loading Washer:

This is my first new washer after about 20 years. I was surprised to find so many complaints about various modern high efficiency and front-loading washers, so I decided to stay with something more traditional. It has a large tub and an agitator (which according to many reviews cleans better than those without one). It also does not have a lid-lock which is perfect for me since I like to rinse my detergent cup while it is filling up with water. My big surprise is that it is really quiet compared to my old washer; it just makes this swishing sound which is only audible when I enter my laundry room. There are a dearth of reviews on the Abt.com site but it has some really strong prositive reviews on another home improvement web-site. I've only washed 4 loads with it so far and everything comes out clean. I also noticed that clothes seem to be spun drier than my old washer, so it takes much less time to dry. Lastly, the estimated energy consumption (I have a gas water heater) is $30 per year. The high efficiency washers run about $12 per year, so I am gladly trading $18 per year for cleaner washed clothes and the convonience of no lid lock; all worth the $18 per year in my book.

I was about to order online, but had some questions, and Jose from ABT answered them courteously and professionally. He even followed up wit a phone call to tell me item was about to ship and helped schedule the delivery.
Delivery men arrived while I was in the middle of a conference call, and they worked quietly and politely and got everything installed and tested quickly.
