Good dishwasher that fits when you do not have standard counter clearance. My kitchen was tiled around the base cabinets by the previous owner. This caused the opening for the dishwasher to be 33.5 inches(h). This dishwasher is one of the few that had legs that adjusted to the size I needed. The dishwasher is slightly smaller inside than the one it replaced, but we do not find this to be a problem. It runs quiet and was easy to install. It is not top of the line, but serves it's purpose and is a good value for the price.

We purchased this dishwasher for our new home and have been very disapointed. My biggest complaint is about the size. While is states a normal 24" depth, it is MUCH smaller than normal dishwashers. I have to do two loads just to get a nights dishes complete. My other complaint is the efficiency. On the 'normal' setting my dishes come out SOAKING wet. The only way to get them clean and dry is with the 'heavy' or 'sanitize' setting. This means my dishwasher has to use more energy and resources to do the job right. The design is not very well thought out either. Dishes don't seem to have a logical place and the tines do not allow for much flexibility. Overall, we are looking to sell this one and get another after only two weeks with this one.

Love this dishwasher

Comments about GE GLDT696 Stainless Steel Built-In Dishwasher:
We are a small part time preschool and just love the convenience of having a dishwasher. It is quiet and easy to load for our purposes. We will also use it for sanitizing toys during cold and flu season
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

We bought this dishwasher a month ago and are very unhappy. We have to literally clean the dishes spotless before putting them in to wash or the food does not get washed off in the dishwasher. The door pushes shut but does not always latch properly so we need to firmly hold it in place to get the cycle to start. The only thing we like about the dishwasher is the minimal noise it makes while running
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend
Poor Quality in the GLDT696TSS Dishwasher
from Clearwater, FL, United States
I purchased thi dishwasher about 2 years ago and had problems with the door gasket right from the start. GE did send repair guy and it was fixed. Now!, the thing stopped working with no power to the controls. Pulled it appart only to find that water has leaked on the top controls circuit board. This thing is out of here. I am the owner of all GE Profile appliances in my home except for this one. This is really unbelivable.
very good, quiet

So far we are very happy with this dishwasher. tis very quiet.
Poor design in so many ways. Top rack too shallow and glasses are tipsy in it. Bottom rack too open--glasses can fall right through if not placed strategically. Silverware basket on side is a TERRIBLE idea--things catch on gasket frequently. Worst design feature of all--gasket is not glued in and comes out EVERY TIME a rack is pulled out. "Normal" cycle is over 2 hours long. Now it has stopped drying dishes altogether. Mine is less than 5 years old. Did a mediocre job of cleaning from the beginning.

2 Years old and either the drain solenoid or control board are not working. In addition this dishwasher has never cleaned well and the layout is terrible. I wish we hadn't bought the whole matching set.
from Puriscal, Costa Rica
It is less than two years old and the control board has already gone out.
Good but small

Cleans very well. Too small for pots and pans. Loud beeps whenever you push a button and at end of cycle keeps beeping until you turn off the dishwasher. If you need a smaller dw it is a good choice.
Worst dishwasher I have ever owned.
from Fowler, CO
This dishwasher is small and does not hold very many dishes. It takes 84 minutes to run on the Speed setting. Not even two years old and making grinding noises. I bought a whole kitchen of GE appliances and will NEVER make that mistake again.

Comments about GE GLDT690 Black Built-In Dishwasher:
We have a smaller area to put in a dishwasher, but others had more interior room for the dirty dishes. This model is VERY small inside, has a side utensil basket (instead of in front), and has a weird loading arrangement. Probably would not have bought this if we had seen a model on the floor.
