We use this every other day. We just put the dishes in and follow the instructions. No problems and you can use supermarket brand powder with a rinse aid. This fit our budget since we were upgrading but did not want to spend more than $900 and it has a lot of good features. We considered European brands but found an American brand that we are happy with.

I have never paid this much for a dishwasher and have never had one that was as useless as this one. I have always believed in KitchenAid dishwashers, but this one has destroyed that opinion. I have tried using the recommended products as well as other combinations that have worked well with other dishwashers but the dishes are still NOT clean at all, hottest water, toughest cycle -- I've tried everything to get this to clean the dishes. I AM really impressed with how quiet it is, but since I have to hand wash about half the dishes when it's finished, I know I am wasting a LOT of water. I really wish I had not bought this dishwasher. The old Whirlpool I replaced was loud and once I got used to how to load and what to use, all the dishes came out sparkling with NO rinsing. With this one, I have to wash them first, and they still come out dirtier than when I put them in. Don't buy it!!!!

We bought this dishwasher to replace our broken Frigidaire dishwasher. When purchasing this dishwasher we did not check out the placement of the steam release. It is on the side of the dishwasher and it ruins your cabinets. Our old dishwasher had the steam come out of the front so there was no issue.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Washes dishes well
from San Mateo
Great "middle or the line" dishwasher. Washes and drys well. Never had to wash twice. It does have a heater to heat water and dry dishes. Was concerned about the vent on the side of door venting to the adjacent cabinet. Googled the vent to find the purpose and found others having problems. Even caused moisture damage to some cabinets. Salesperson didn't know what this vent was for, but didn't think it would be a problem and said If it did cause a problem, I can return it. After using it for about a year now, I can say for sure this is not a vent for the heating cycle. More like a vent for the control panel. Does feel warm at times, but not enough to cause any problems. But if there's steam coming out like in some reviews, there's something wrong internally and needs to be serviced.
I bought this 10 days ago. It is very very quiet and I love how my dishes sparkle.
Made in the USA!

This item is so quiet I can't even hear it run standing next to it. The dishes come out sparkling and the capacity to hold a lot of dishes is awesome. We purchased this dishwasher because it was one of few with a heating element for drying and seamed to have sturdy spray arms. The interior of this dishwasher is superior to every dishwasher out there. Easy to place your dishes on the racks and they stay in place. So far this dishwasher has exceeded my expectations, plus to top it all off it's Made in the USA!!! (It feels good to be able to say that)

Do I need to loop or u the dishwasher drain hose? I see the loop in the side of the dishwasher, is that ok. The directions do not show the airlock drain hose.
Lives up to Consumer Reports Review
from Pittsburgh PA
This unit was purchased based on Consumer Reports. It replaced a GE model that was only 6 years old. The GE model never really cleaned stuck on food and often left a grit on the glasses. Thus far using primarily the ProClean Cycle, dishes are clean, glasses clear and the tea stains from mugs which the GE could not remove are much cleaner (for some all the stain is gone and for the others most of the stain is gone). Cycle time in somewhat long but if it continues to clean well then that is OK with me.
3 service calls in the first year
from Raleigh, NC
The importance of this review is that it is not about initial quality or features. It is about what to expect over time. We are a large family that works our appliances hard. Somedays the dishwasher runs 3+ loads. Dishwashers and washing machines are like air to us. So when there is an issue it hits us hard. After 10+ years of trouble free service to the home I opted to replace our bottom of the line noisy old dishwasher. And when I did I went all the way, top of the line, ultra quiet, three rack stainless steel inside and out. My thoughts were wow this is really something and we were all very excited. The first thing to be removed was the third rack at the top. With this in place you can just never get it all to fit right, unless it is a photograph for a marketing picture. If you really use your washer then don't make this a purchasing decision. The good news is it comes right out no problem making it a simple waste of money. Then the service calls begin. The basics of this have been for not draining. After the second service call I asked for the entire machine to be replaced as I have 0 interest in paying for multiple service calls per year. We all know what the response to this was, yeah... right... The result of this is of course is we will keep patching it up till your high end dishwasher is out of warranty and you can start paying from there. Since we are now out of warranty I have only had 1 issue which was the dishwasher does not clean the dishes. The dishes getting clean in a consistent and reliable manner is a purchasing decision. That was related to the spray arms being clogged with food particles. Unfortunately these cannot be opened for easy cleaning but after several hours I was successful in getting the various plugs removed. On the plus side this machine is in fact ultra quiet, you literally cannot hear it run if there is any background noise at all. I also need to state that when this machine is working it does clean.

It's quiet and does a great job cleaning the dishes. I like the adjustable rack feature and how smoothly it rolls out on its ball bearing system.

This is the first Kitchen Aid product I have ever owned and I'm quite impressed! This dishwasher is so quite! If it were not for the lights I would not have believed it was running! We kept looking at it asking each other is it running? Lol. I absolutely love this Kitchen Aid dishwasher! I have only had it a few weeks but so far a Wonderful product!
