At first, I was going to switch from electric to natural gas for gourmet cooking.
I took a leap of faith buying a relatively expensive induction range/convection oven, but it has exceeded my expectations. I admit I was fascinated by the idea of magnetism safely inducing heat in the cookware.
Induction is simply the best way to cook!
It is extremely energy-efficient, actually cutting my electric bill 15% compared to the old power-wasting conventional electric stove top. At the same time, it is lightning fast in generating heat. It also has the unique ability to fine tune the temperature instantly and digitally. No guesswork and expensive mistakes. I rarely need the HIGH setting--unless I am just boiling water. Set it to simmer, and I am simmering instantly. It does take some getting used to!
The range top does not get very hot, and of course it has no gas that can be a safety hazard. So it is IMO the safest way to cook if you have children tenants or shut-ins. If you pull your pan off the range, the heating just stops.
I did go out and buy a good set of RegalWare that is compatible with induction. But I couldve gotten by with a couple of good no-stick fry pans. (You really should have good pans regardless of your heat source, and most good cookware is now induction-compatible.)
I haven't had to clean the oven yet but the range is very easy to clean. It is nice to know I can hopefully keep my stove clean without chemicals.

I like the look of the stove. It is difficult to find the right burner setting when cooking. Have had since December 2012and still trying to find right settings. The oven is really slow heating up, don't like that. My old oven heated up much faster. Oven also makes a popping noise when heating up which I find very weird. Also don't like u have to set the start button after you enter the oven temp setting!

Comments about KitchenAid 30" Stainless Double Electric Range:

This model has an attractive design and the top oven is bigger than the one we had previously so larger pans can fit in it, along with 2 baking dishes. I use the upper oven 95% of the time I cook. It heats quickly, is much more efficient than a single large oven, and has great time settings. It even has a cook time setting that will shut off the oven automatically after the cook time expires.

My one complaint about the oven is the stovetop is hard to clean. Grease and oil marks show on it easily, and leave visible streaks on the stove top and stainless steel frame. It does come with a sample stove top cleaner that works well. The model has 5 burners (4 burners and 1 warmer). The largest, front left burner has 3 settings so you can control how many elements heat. The front right burner has an Ultra High setting that heats super fast. However, the back right burner heats much slower than the identical one at the back left. I am not sure if this is a defect or if it is because the back right burner also has a "melt" setting which makes it function differently.

Overall, I highly recommend this oven and the matching overhead microwave. We purchased both and hope to gets years of use from them.

Comments about KitchenAid 30" Stainless Double Electric Range:

I've had the range for just over a year. After about 6 months the multi burner didn't heat well. I've never used the self cleaning feature. The oven floor is chipped and the blue enamel is coming off. I'm not sure if I'll be able to use it. It's a lot of money for a product that is falling apart after a year.

Comments about KitchenAid 30" Stainless Double Electric Range:

I'm pretty happy with this range, considering the pricepoint. I was concerned about some other reviews regarding the oven not getting to temp fast enough, but that was not a problem for me. This is my first foray into flat top cooking so I'm still getting used to it. The temp doesn't seem to get that hot, to get a roiling boil and seems to take a long time. I would much prefer gas cooking, but must settle for electric. The quality seems good, and I support the USA assembly and manufacture, though I realize many parts come from foreign sources.

Comments about KitchenAid 30" Stainless Double Electric Range:

I have had this range for almost two years. I am happy with the induction free standing range overall and the price is very competitive. The design appearance is modern, although, I prefer a sleeker more "commercial" and less "residential" look. I am not happy that the oven does not preheat quickly enough (it is really ridiculously slow) and I have had to replace the "computer board" for the induction cook top, already (just over the one-year mark, so, I am holding my breath approaching the two-year mark). ... which really makes me nervous about the product.

But, as far as "bang for the buck"... this is the range.

And the idea of "induction", rather than "gas", is fabulous ( I previously owned a Jenn-Air dual fuel, which was very nice and a GE Cafe duel fuel, which was beautiful to look at, but, not as consistent as the Jenn-Air... also, had a third house with a Whirlpool electric cooktop, which heated quickly and was easy to clean, but, electric bills were a bit high)... although, it did take some time for me to learn not to turn up the stove with induction and turn away! .... I burned and boiled over any number of dishes for the first few weeks of owning it.

Wouldn't want any other type of range anymore! Love it!

Love it!
