Samsung 24" DMT400 White Built In Dishwasher, Model DMT400WH

Features:

Quiet Operation
The kitchen is one of the noisiest rooms in the home. But it doesn’t have to be. Samsung turns the kitchen’s chief noisemaker into a gentle peacemaker. That’s because every component of a Samsung dishwasher – water pumps, flow meters, spray arms – is meticulously engineered to deliver the quietest, most advanced washing cycle possible. Thanks to this unique noise prevention design, you won’t have to talk over your dishwasher or turn your TV volume up ever again.

Leakage Protection
Did you know that a dishwasher can quietly, secretly sabotage your home? Hard-to-find leaks can cause extensive damage to your kitchen floor and, if you live in a multi-unit building, even affect the home below yours. That’s why the Samsung dishwasher is equipped with a unique Digital Leakage Sensor designed to detect even the smallest traces of water. Located below the dishwasher, the sensor immediately shuts off the electrical connection after detecting a leak saving you from the expensive aftermath of a water-related emergency.

Nozzle System Assures Clean Dishes
Samsung’s exclusive twister nozzle system gets every dish extra clean. A unique and dramatic upgrade from the traditional straight-line nozzle system, the twister’s powerful rotating effect whips water onto and into more of each dish maximizing our dishwasher’s cleaning performance. Just imagine Mother Nature summoning up the cleaning tornado inside the machine so that your dishes come out perfectly clean. Our engineers did.

The primary reason I'm writing this review is due to a recent problem started. We've had it 5 months when all of a sudden it would start for maybe 2-3 minutes then give a drain error. After a few attempts, it did eventually start but then would error out with a low water level error. Originally I started with the service dept where I purchased it and their repair tech said it was a faulty water level sensor. When it took an absurdly long time for them fix it, I complained directly to Samsung only to find out that they weren't an authorized repair center. (Scary) When the authorized tech came out, he agreed that the water level sensor was causing the issue....but not because it was malfunctioning. He said it was caused by using TOO MUCH soap. Over time this caused a slight residue to get into the sensor float that made it a little "sticky" sending the wrong information on the water levels. He poured water into the tub and drained it a coupletimes. Then, he selected a normal wash and after 3 of it's on/off cycles there was still soap in the water. At his recommendation, I've ran it a few more times sans soap, and it's completed each cycle and seems to be back to normal. His recommendation was to use 4 teaspoons of powdered detergent, and 2 teaspoons lemon shine into the detergent bin. And of course the rinsing aid/drying agent in it's bin. Other than the initial part with the unauthorized service thing (should've known better than to go to a discount warehouse) I've been pretty happy with the service overall, and extremely happy with the service personnel that was sent.

We had this dishwasher installed in March. Since then we have lost several glasses due to breaking in this dishwasher. This happens as we pull the top tray out or push it back in- it is not always a smooth motion as the wheels tend to get stuck or don't roll, so if a glass is not hooked on to one of the tines/or is too small to fit on one, it smashes against another and breaks! Never had any problem with breaking glasses or any of the other issues listed below with previous dishwashers at our old home--and one was an unheard of brand with one switch for ON/OFF! The other issues we have had is mold growing on the dishes in the dishwasher and a STRONG stinky odor when we open the door--like stinky cheese! Spots of the mold remain on the dishes and glasses after running the cycle-- pretty gross! We do rinse the dishes well before loading, but think this shouldn't be necessary--at that point we may as well hand wash them! We run the dishwasher every 5-7 days. We noticed there doesn't seem to be any vent in the front like other dishwashers have. Where does the steam go from this dishwasher as it is in the drying cycle? or while it is closed with damp dishes in it? We are guessing this may be the culprit-- moisture just stays in there... The reason for the low design score is the lack of adjustment on the top and bottom racks-- to be able to reduce the amount of plate space and create more room for bowls, lack of option to remove the wine glass holder, option to relocate the utensil baskets to the other side/in the front of the dishwasher, lack of smooth rolling wheels on both top and bottom racks, lack of something to prevent the bottom rack from falling in between the dishwasher and the door when rolling back in and full of dishes, lack of an option to remove (without breaking them off) the silly utensil holders on top of the baskets-- who actually would refer to the owners manual to put their utensils in exactly as they recommend in the manual? We have been putting utensils in in our own way and it seems to work fine, just wish we didn't have to do that as the covers get in the way. And another design flaw is the front bottom kick panel looks unfinished. Otherwise this dishwasher is VERY quiet and cleans well if mold has not already formed.

Comments about Samsung 24" DMT400 White Built In Dishwasher:

We replaced a bottom of the line dishwasher that did not make 3 years. It spewed water behind the machine and we only knew it because the motor started screeching when it ran. I could pick it up by myself when I removed it. The new one took 2 to move. It was more solidly built. So far it is great. It gets all my dishes clean and for the most part dry. As stated it does not have a heating element for drying but if you use the rinse agent and let the clean dishes stay in the closed washer for a while the dishes are dry. It seems to work well when you follow the instructions for loading and rinse etc. It is very, very quiet. It is perfect for us as we never do pots and pans in the washer. I don't see a pot scrubber mode on this one anyway. For the price, on sale, it is a good buy. It was actually only $150 more then the piece of junk it replaced. I don't know how long it will last but I have owned Samsung products before that were fine. The warranty that comes with it seems pretty good. I am not expecting to use it. My only suggestion is that you loosen the feet before installing. I didn't and could not get the back feet to move after instillation and it was extremely hard to move the front two. Stainless inside and out! Love it. Follow instructions and you will be pleased with the results.

I really like the performance and it's so quiet you don't even know it is running - have no complaints other than the dishwasher was missing the front kick plate and I am having trouble getting one. The store where the dishwasher was purchased keeps telling me that they are working on it but have not come through yet.

Comments about Samsung 24" DMT400 White Built In Dishwasher:

The design of the exterior is fairly good. However, the interior has lower quality racks that seem to bend too easily. The basket for utensils is poorly designed because the holes for them are way too small to fit normal sized utensils so you end up just not using the separator which kind of defeats the purpose. It is pretty quiet and has cleaned fairly well so far. Overall a pretty good dishwasher.

Comments about Samsung 24" DMT400 White Built In Dishwasher:

I purchased this dishwasher when my bosh (which I LOVED) quit. It looked great and we thought that since we were happy with our other Samsung products (TV's, microwaves, fridge, etc) that we would go with a brand we trusted. From the moment we installed it, I hated it. It was not nearly as quiet as my old dishwasher and it took what seemed like FOREVER to complete a cycle. Then I opened the washer and found that my dishes don't seem very clean. I have tried every brand of soap and rinse agent but still my dishes are not usually clean. The soap dispenser doesn't even open sometimes so I have to run another cycle on several loads. I end up washing half of my dishes by hand after they have gone through the washer. When this one quits, I will definitely go with another brand. I love my microwave and other Samsung products but the dishwasher is a lemon.

We like the quietness and style of the dishwasher with a large capacity. It did not dry the dishes as we had hoped. Checked water temperature was 140 degrees which was OK.Used the sanitize mode but did not help. Will try a different rinse. In use for one week.

Comments about Samsung 24" DMT400 White Built In Dishwasher:

We have had this dishwasher for 2 1/2 years and I have had a variety of problems with it the entire time we have had it. It replaced a much less expensive dishwasher that we used with no major issues for 12 years. Now, after less than three years, I would junk this one if I could afford to do so. The first we experienced was steam coming out from the base of the door. This mainly happens when I run a sanitary cycle. I run this cycle a lot, so I always have to remember to wipe the area after the cycle so our wood flooring doesn't get damaged. The second issue is that the nozzles get clogged all the time. I have to remove all three sets at least once per month to clean debris from the holes and I even rinse all dishes before loading. The third issue is that gunk accumulates at the front of the tub, right where the door opens and closes. I assume this doesn't get thoroughly washed during a cycle, with the door obstructing it, so it starts to smell unless you wipe or scrub it off frequently. It also doesn't clean as well as my old washer did. These are all annoying problems, but the very worst problem is that twice in the past 2+ years of owning it, I have had to unscrew all 15 or so screws to remove the bottom screen and clean the reservoir under it because a pinkish bacterial growth accumulates and makes the whole washer smells absolutely disgusting...so bad that the dishes actually smell bad after a cycle. I would never recommend this to somebody that I liked and I would likely never consider a Samsung dishwasher again. I wish I had returned it after I discovered the condensation issue after a few uses instead of just deciding to live with that issue. It is a beautiful and quiet machine, but the way it cleans and it's terrible inside design resulting in the smell and extra maintenance, it's really not acceptable, particularly since this was not an inexpensive dishwasher.

Despite some good reviews (and looking past some poor reviews) before purchase, we are horribly disappointed with our Samsung dishwasher. In short: it does not clean well at all (even rinsed dishes), it does not dry well (even using rinse aid and sanitize option), it has a horrible musty/stagnant odor (even just 24 hours after running a cleaning cycle). It is very quiet, but for the basic qualities you want, it fails. Very disappointed. We returned it for a different make/model that has been amazing.
