I did a lot of research prior to purchasing this washer-dryer combo. We live in a very small New York apartment, and size and noise were a big issue in selecting a washer-dryer. LG seems to have hit the mark with this one. Very stylish, easy to use, and it has excellent capacity for the overall size of the machine. For reference, it washes the same amount of clothes that the typical smaller commercial machine you find at a New York City laundromat handles. It's very easy to use; dial in settings for wash and dry, and then walk away. The wash cycle is very quiet, and the machine uses very little water. The overall dry time tends to be longer than that of the usual electric dryer, but not by much. I had seen reviews elsewhere that complained that the similar larger version of this machine didn't dry clothes adequately and left them damp, but I've had no difficulty getting clothes as dry as I want them to be in this machine. I suspect that those who had complaints were packing clothes in too tightly - with these (and most) dryers the clothes need to be free to tumble in order to dry completely. The spin cycle on the faster speeds can lead to some vibration here on the 4th floor of an apartment building, especially at first when the clothes are still wet and relatively heavy with water, but I find the machine balances loads and spins them remarkably quietly considering the rotational speeds reached (1300 RPM). After a minute or two, when the initial water weight in the clothes has decreased, the machine is remarkably quiet, and the vibration almost disappears, even at high spin speeds. Mounting the machine on vibration isolation pads seemed to solve the vibration issues for me. The only issue I have, and the only thing that decreased my overall rating of this machine, is the noisy water pump. The machine otherwise is incredibly quiet, except for the water pump that expels the water from the machine. This pump is active only intermittently during the wash and rinse cycle, but it runs very frequently, although for brief periods, during the entire dry cycle and makes a relatively loud (for this otherwise almost silent machine) noise somewhat like an old door buzzer. The noise is similar to the electric water pump on our espresso machine at work, so I think it's a function of the type of pump used, but I can't imagine that there's not a quieter pump out there that could be used to make this machine overall the most incredibly quiet washer-dryer on the market today? Come on, LG engineers - just do the right thing and find a quieter pump or install appropriate sound dampening material! Granted, the noise is not unbearable (and may not be an issue for those with a separate room for the washer-dryer), but many in the market for a smaller machine like this one will be installing it in the kitchen etc, and it's odd that the amazingly quiet nature of this machine has to be marred by the noise of the water pump... Overall, if you need a compact, stylish, easy-to-use combo washer-dryer, I would definitely recommend this one.

I am on my 2nd one of these machines (the first one was replaced by my service agreement after 14 months of trying to fix the machine - they replaced it with a new one). When they work well, they work amazing well!! Unfortunately, they are NOT designed to work well. I am thrilled that I bought a 5 year service agreement as it is clear I will need it. The problem with the way the machine is built is there is no way for the consumer to empty lint from within. Thus, it turns out it builds up within the machine. The result is that the machine stops drying when the lint builds up. I have this machine just over a year. Like with the previous one, at just over a year, I have had to call for service. When the tech came, he removed from the deepest parts of the machine a full cup of wet lint. This had stopped the machine from drying properly. I had to have a machine replaced a little over a year ago (same identical machine) due to the same problem but the service company could never figure this out and LG did not suggest this fix. The tech said this is the most common problem on these machines and that he sees a large number of service calls due to this. IF you buy, you MUST buy a service warranty! 3 Month later update: yet another day off from work! Same problem. No way to remove lint from the machine. Today - the drain pipe is clogged due to this problem. DO NOT BUY THIS MACHINE! Also - a had a family member stay with me a couple weeks ago. She saw the machine and indicated hers never dried. She has the same problem I do.

Comments about LG WM3455 Silver Washer And Dryer Combo:
Girlfriend and I used ours for around 15 months so far and have had zero issues. The washer seems to be very efficient and does a great job with stains. Yes the load size is smaller but who did not already know that when they purchased?? Yes the spin cycle is very fast, you will need to make sure the machine is on a solid flat surface. Yes the drier takes awhile but we set it before we leave for work and it's done when we get home. We've never had any issues with clothes that are not completely dry unless you absolutely stuff it way too full. The only negative is that your clothes will have more winkles. Since this drier does not heat like a traditional drier you'll have to iron more. The positive is that your athletic and yoga type clothes will last much longer without the high heat cycle.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Doesn't dry, small loads, noisy
from Chicago, IL, United States
Like others have said IT DOESNT DRY YOUR CLOTHES! The machine takes about 4-5 hours to do one (very small) load of laundry - about an hour washing & spinning and 3 hours drying, and they're still damp. Also, mine has just started malfunctioning and soaking the clothes while it's on the "dry only" cycle - put my work clothes in to dewrinkle, came back and they were SOAKED! Overall, this machine would be a good option for a person who only washes a couple things at a time and can wait 5+ hours for it to finish aka no one.

Great for a wheelchair user!
from San Francisco, CA, United States
Yes, this model is small, and yes, it takes longer than a regular laundry pair. But as a wheelchair user, not having to handle wet clothes is a real plus. You put dry dirty clothes in, you get dry clean clothes out. As long as I only fill the drum half full, I have not had any problem with damp clothes. If I wash a bigger load, I have to extend the drying time. If I start a load before dinner it will be done before bedtime, which is good enough for me. Then I can use the delay wash and have it run a second load overnight so that it finishes first thing in the morning. I like that there is a timer on the front that tells you how long is left before it finishes.
Great RV Washer Dryer Unit
from Provo, UT
I replaced my much smaller unit in our Motorhome with this model. It has four times the cycles and about a third size larger tub. Because this is a vent-less type dryer, it does take longer to dry the clothes and put humidity into the air. Clothes come out clean and overall I am very pleased with this washer dryer combination unit. It is very well built and can be programmed with extra cycles through a app on your android phone. Very useful function. Loads can also be tracked to inform you as to when it's time to clean the tub. Would have given five stars if the dryer was vented. Overall I love it!

Cramped for space? Want to save money? For the cost of separate washer and dryers you can just get this unit and save not only money but room as well. No stacking like some you see just one that does it all. In a hurry? There is a "Speed cycle" that does what it says. I would have given this a 5 star IF it were a top loader.
I can only have a combo unit in my house due to lack of space to put a separate dryer. I love this unit in theory because it allows me to have both (it is installed in my kitchen.) This washer works ok for washing clothes, but the drying feature is TERRIBLE. After having it for less than a year it has started making an incredibly loud vibrating noise that cycles on and off for the entirety of the 3-5 hour drying cycle. Since I have a small, open-floor plan house, you can hear this noise in every single room. We can't even hear the TV over the sound of the dryer, meaning all of the drying has to be done while at work or while sleeping (not convenient).
Perfect for apartment living
from Vancouver, BC, Canada
I've had this combo machine for a year and a half now. It took some getting used to but I love it in spite of the fact that I've had the pump replaced once (collected a hair pin) and had the technician here recently to scrub all the lint out of the insides. This machine does need a little babying. This unit is relatively quiet if you don't mind the sound of the pump running during the dry cycle. I can barely hear the wash cycle. Yes the clothes come out mildly damp but they are dry in a few minutes. And yes if you over dry them they will wrinkle because it gets crazy hot in there. Like the other reviewers mentioned you have to wipe down the seals after each use for lint, and the clothes can get linty but this usually happens when you don't run the self cleaning cycle often enough or if you overload it. The reason I love this machine is because I can use it in my old rental apartment and avoid leaving the house to clean my clothes. The clothes come out VERY clean and it hardly uses any water. It's already paid for itself in convenience and my electricity bill only went up around $3.00 a month while doing approximately 5-7 loads a week. If you are in a situation where you can't vent or want an environmentally friendly washing option I would highly recommend this machine.
this product is great..
I have monthly maintenance with calgon or bleach... no damage clothes
WORST WASTE OF LIFE EVER
from New York, NY, United States
This thing washes, but LEGIT does not dry. takes 8 hours just to do a few towels? and they still come out damp, are you kidding me????? better off paying a laundry service to do your clothes rather than racking up your electric bill and wasting all your time " Re-Dying" your clothes. so annoying and so angry.
Unhappy. .complete waste of money
from Binghamton, NY, United States
Imo, the only feature that is positive, is the space saving feature. Clothes come out damp and need to be exposed to air to complete drying, or they over dry and come out wrinkled. The lint collects around the rubber lining and has to wiped down between every use. We have had the machine for a year and have had to have service man out on 3 occasions already. The pump has been replaced once. For the price, I can't justify the purchase. Having separate machines cuts the time back drastically. If you set the dry time for 30 minutes, it automatically goes to 57 minutes, so on and so forth. Clothes almost always need to be rolled with a lint brush.
