We're very impressed with this stove. I'd never cooked with gas before, and now I can see what the big deal is.

The two ovens are great. We were worried that we'd be on our hands and knees all the time because the lower oven is so low, but it turns out that we use the upper oven constantly. It's tall enough for a Pyrex dish full of food, which is all we usually need.

The lower oven is convection, which has been fun to try to figure out. The main point we have learned so far is that it makes things crispier, and does it much faster. The chocolate-chip cookies we made when we first installed it were amazing.

At first, we didn't know what to make of the teeny little griddle in the middle -- it seemed stupid. We have a ton of kids and usually use a giant griddle. But we find that we're using this small one all the time. Three more pancakes? No problem.

One thing we haven't run into yet that will irk me when we do is that the stove supposedly has a gas cut-off when the electricity is out, which happens here all too often. I'd prefer that we could continue to use the gas stovetop when the power is out -- it could make the difference between having to flee the house and not having to do so.

We'd had a glass-topped electric range before, which was super-easy to clean, and were worried that this would be a pain. But the grates lift out nicely and it wipes up very easily.

I bought this unit 4 months ago, at first I loved this range, mostly used the upper oven for smaller types of cooking, until I made a turkey, and some other larger foods needed to use the larger convection oven, after cooking for a while, the lower oven's heat goes straight up to the upper doors glass window, the heat from the lower oven generates moisture inside the upper oven window, and you can not wipe it clean, it makes streaks inside the window pane, I called Kitchen Aid direct, and they said, sorry, that's a cosmetic issue, of which I said, no way, there should be no reason to spend over 2 thousand dollars on a new range, for this to happen, no range is designed to create moisture INSIDE the upper ovens window pane, I even bought a 350 dollar, 5 year extended warranty and they still denied me a claim for this, I have never been treated this way from not being satisfied, and I will never buy a Kitchen Aid appliance ever again, you can find other complaints with this at other sites, just look.

Needs improvement

By

from Mount Vernon, WA

Comments about KitchenAid 30" Dual Fuel Stainless Steel Free-Standing Range:

This range came with our home purchase last year. I like the cooktop, I just wish it was a bit bigger so that you could actually get 4 large pots and pans on without touching each other. I like the burner grates. They are easy to clean. I also like the griddle. The double oven is useful but could use some improvement. The top oven is cool for cooking pizza but it needs to be deeper. I have to shove my x-tra large pizza's up the back a bit to get the door closed. It would be nice if they could just lay flat. The bottom oven works fine but it's hard to use being that it is so low. It is a back breaker at Thanksgiving time with a 25lb turkey! I like the stainless steel and the knobs are nice and heavy and seem very sturdy. It is working out fine for me now, but I probably wouldn't have chosen it if I was in the market for a new range.

Excellent choice for versatility in limited space

By

from Columbus, OH

Comments about KitchenAid 30" Dual Fuel Stainless Steel Free-Standing Range:

We bought this while searching for a dual fuel range to replace an old range that died three days before Christmas! I've had dual fuel before - it's the perfect option. The double oven was a bonus - as it was the only dual fuel range that was in stock to be installed before our Christmas hosting duties. We use the smaller top oven for preparing daily meals, and use both ovens when preparing larger meals, or when baking cookies.

Grate scratches the stainless

By

from Arizona

Comments about KitchenAid 30" Dual Fuel Stainless Steel Free-Standing Range:

We have had this stove for 3 months and it has scratches every where from removing the grates to clean. If the grate touches the metal just slightly you will see the bad results. I am so disappointed because we try to remove very carefully but one wrong move and another scratch. Wish we could take back.

Uneven heat

By

from San Francisco Bay Area

Verified Buyer

Comments about KitchenAid 30" Dual Fuel Stainless Steel Free-Standing Range:

We bought this because we really wanted a dual-oven range in a standard 30-inch space. Overall, it looks nice, but a few things have kept us from really enjoying it.

1) The ovens don't provide even heat. This is especially noticeable in the upper (smaller) oven, which is much hotter toward the rear.

2) We really wish there was an LED or similar indicator that a burner is on. It's tough to see the flame on this range, so if you have a burner on Medium (so the burner dial is vertical), it's easy to forget you left it on.

3) The oven and timer controls could be easier to use.

Smaller oven perfect for most items

By

from Arizona

Comments about KitchenAid 30" Dual Fuel Stainless Steel Free-Standing Range:

Use the smaller oven most of the time. Kids are on their own now and we only need the larger oven on special occasions. Love accurate heat control and self cleaning features. Gas cook top works well.

Not satisfied

By

from chardon, ohio

Verified Buyer

Comments about KitchenAid 30" Dual Fuel Stainless Steel Free-Standing Range:

I've had this range for almost a year now and not satisfied especially for the amount of money we spent. The range does work wonderfully. As for the oven, not the greatest. It takes forever to preheat and get up to temperature. And it doesn't bake anything evenly! One side of the oven is always hotter than the other. If I knew what I know now, I would have purchased a different range.

Need a new value

By

from Burbank, CA

Comments about KitchenAid 30" Dual Fuel Stainless Steel Free-Standing Range:

I bought this gas range appx 2 years ago. First I could not turn the knob for the top small burner on right front, then the same thing started happening for the left back.
Also the lower oven barely comes on ... sometimes maybe" after about 20 minutes. I usually have to turn on the top oven for the bottom to come on in a timely manner. Tech camE out and had to replace something for the bottom over and had to order a value for the the top which means he have to replace to entire top unit.
I wish I had not purchased this range. Too much gone wrong.
Also sometimes I need a lighter to light burners.

Not very haopy

By

from Hartford, Mi.

Comments about KitchenAid 30" Dual Fuel Stainless Steel Free-Standing Range:

I had this range installed 16 months ago. After using the center burner only 3 times only 1/4 of it would light. Husband had to take apart and fix. If you have all four burners going at once the smaller ones won't get hot enough to bring anything to a boil. The ovens don't cook evenly at all. Burn thing on the edges and not done in the middle. Very unhappy with the product.
