I bought this machine because I was pretty tentative about this being as wonderful as they say they are. But I did want something relatively portable that would be good for some rugs in my smallish flat, the dog's bed, and the car. Honestly, though, I'm astounded at the amount of dust and pet hair that it picks up. It is small and, therefore, very light as well. So the concept of "lugging" it around is not applicable. The bin empties very easily and though I haven't yet cleaned it per the monthly process that's recommended it seems very simple and straightforward. Few things I wish were a bit different. The machine itself seems to generate static, so when I use mine some pet hair and random flotsam and jetsam end up clining to the machine after I use it. I've solved this in one of two ways: wipe the machine down with a damp paper towel either before or after using it and it doesn't tend to attract the hair. The hose is also kind of stiff and doesn't bend without turning around or tipping over the machine. I find it is best if you hold the machine while using it, but that's not going to work for everyone. Back on the plus side, the machine isn't terribly loud either and it seems very sturdy, is kind of attractive in a design-store sort of way, and once you've got the hose sorted it stores very well. Comes with all of the attachments, which are very easy to put on and take off; nothing seems 'flimsy' so you can use it confidently without wrestling with it. Otherwise as I said this machine is great; I'm looking forward to a long life with it and I'd recommend Dyson to anyone who asked.

I have been using this little vacuum for several months now. I live in a small condo so it works well for me. I have a hairy dog so I use it everyday. It's very small and light so it's handy to use. Downsides are, the power cord is too short. Even in my small home I have to move the cord a couple of times. While it cleans hard floors well I wouldn't recommend it for carpets, especially deep pile ones. It just doesn't have the power for them but it is great for hard wood floors.

      So unhappy

      By SilverGal

Comments about Dyson DC26 Multi Floor Turbinehead Canister Vacuum:

The DC26 Multi floor canister vacuum has been such a disappointment to me. It picks up very litte from carpets, leaving everything from dust to pet hair. It does work well on bare floors, but I could have purchased a much less expensive vacuum just to do my bare floors. I would not recommend this product to ANYONE.

      The DC26 is wonderful

Comments about Dyson DC26 Multi Floor Turbinehead Canister Vacuum:

I really love the vac except that the cord is WAY TOO SHORT!! You cannot go very far without running out of cord and having to replug it in. That gets to be pretty annoying. I'll have to go buy an extension cord.

      better than any other

Comments about Dyson DC26 Multi Floor Turbinehead Canister Vacuum:

Our Grandma gave us an old vacuum cleaner after she got a new one. Over the past year, it was falling apart! It was very heavy and my mom hated it. Then I started saving up for the Dyson City vacuum. When I finally reached the price, I got it from dyson.com. It was easy to assemble and very lightweight. I did our "family room" with it . When I was done, I looked at the bin and it was almost to the MAX level. I am happy with it so far!

Dyson City DC26 Multi floor Canister Vacuum

      By Lynda44

      from Undisclosed

Comments about Dyson DC26 Multi Floor Turbinehead Canister Vacuum:

I purchased this vacuum because we have all hard floors with 3 rugs at entry doors and wanted an easy to handle, light-weight machine to clean both surfaces in our typical 3 bedroom ranch home. Plus, the fact that the Dyson name is well-known was a factor in my decision. The suction is O.K. not as good as I expected. The powerhead brush quits spinning anywhere from 20 - 30 times during a normal weekly vacuuming. If I lightly bump a wall, bump a furniture leg or go from rug to hard surface floor or vice-versa, the power brush quits turning--although the vacuum keeps most of its suction. I have to turn the power button off or remove the powerhead from the sweeper wand to restore the brush turning. Also, any hair or thread on the floor wraps around the powerbrush and has to be pulled off manually. It would be nice if the power cord were about 6 feet longer so I could sweep an entire large area, like our family room dining area, without moving the plug to a different outlet. The vacuum does not take bags and it has to be emptied often. I do not mind because it is very easy to remove the canister and empty it. I feel the vacuum is very overpriced at $399.99 due to its problems with use and not being as powerful as advertised. It might be worth about half of its cost. It is lightweight and easy to move and store. I like the feature that holds the wand/hose on the canister for storing. Overall, I am disappointed for the value at the price.

Happy with my DC 26 and with their customer servic

      By Sugarfoote

Comments about Dyson DC26 Multi Floor Turbinehead Canister Vacuum:

I purchased my DC26 and it arrived very well packaged with good instructions. I have mostly hardwood floors and was so tired of lugging around heavy vacum. This vacum really leaves the floors clean with no sandy residue at all. However, I tried the turbine head. It worked fine the first time but when I tried it the next day it would not work. I called the company and got to speak to a customer service rep. She was very patient with me walked me through what she wanted me to do . She then proceeded to tell me they would send me a new head immediately. I received the head today which was about 4 days after my phone call. The new head works very well and I am very pleased with this vacum. It is nice to find a company that stands by its product.

Comments about Dyson DC26 Multi Floor Turbinehead Canister Vacuum:

machine blows out a lot of dust which bothers me; have to wear a dust mask when using vacuum. Otherwise powerful little machine, but limited use due to dust factor. Does not serve purpose of fast cleanup that we originally wanted.

        Great baby vac

        By SCdysonfan

        from Undisclosed

Comments about Dyson DC26 Multi Floor Turbinehead Canister Vacuum:

I love my new dyson; but it is quite small so be ready for this if you buy it. If you have never used a dyson before and this is your first, it may SEEM at first that the vacuum isn't working well. However, it is important to note a few things: 1. If you have pets or if you are a hair shedder and you have been using other brands, Dyson will pick things up you had not imagined. On the carpet attachment, you will need to clean the roller as well as empty the basked frequently, especially on the first use. Don't freak out if it seems like it isn't working and you haven't finished a room. Clean your roller and empty the basket. 2. Remember, the carpet attachment is very small. It will work on large rooms but you will need to be patient with it. 3. This model is a beast on stairs. 4. This model does great with corners and tight spots. 5. The attachment for non carpeted floors works great 6. It is quite light and easy to use as a result. 7. The cord is shorter than I would prefer, HOWEVER, this is a small vacuum and that cannot be forgotten. Overall, I think it was a pretty good buy. If I had a house full of wall to wall carpeting, I would have to say I under-bought for my need. Because mine is mixed and because I have stairs, I think I picked exactly what I need to get the job done.

Comments about Dyson DC26 Multi Floor Turbinehead Canister Vacuum:

I really like this vacuum; this machine has what I was a looking for: very light (I refuse to use big heavy vacuum), easy to use, easier to empty, bagless and washable filters, great suction, the cord is good for me (I never had a vacuum with a longer cord). I only have hard floors in my home. It is expensive, but great machine!
