I hesitated between giving this product an "excellent" or "good" overall rating. It seems that the guts of this dishwasher are indeed excellent but with insufficient engineering devoted to two of the features: the culinary rack and the utensil basket.First the good: It's whisper quiet. A whisper is in fact loud in comparison. You barely hear it when it's running. It normally does an excellent job of cleaning although once I had left a few glasses in the sink and washed my hands over the glasses before, later on, loading them into the dishwasher. [I know, I know.] The soap film, from washing my hands, had dried onto the glasses. Because of that, the glasses going into the dishwasher had dried soap film which two runs through the dishwasher failed to completely remove. I eventually washed the glasses by hand and them put them through the dishwasher and no more soap film. Sort of defeats the purpose though. On the other hand, the dishwasher leaves the dishes, including glassware and stainless clean and spotless from food. I typically use the "normal" cycle and shut off the heated drying and everything still comes out clean and spot free. I definately recommend using a rinse aid. Also, "less is more" when using soap. The dishwasher needs very little soap. I only fill the soap dispenser about 1/2 way and that works fine. I also like the way the dishwasher looks and that the controls are hidden from view when the door is closed. Did I mention it's very quiet? Now the bad #not really bad but not as good#: This would be an "excellent" dishwasher except for the "culinary tool rack" and the "utensil basket".I am still trying to get used to the culinary tool rack, which is the top sliding drawer. For many "culinary tools" the inside height of the rack is not tall enough so I usually only put the eating and some serving utensils in the culinary rack. Large serving spoons and spatulas need to go elsewhere. Also, if the tongs in the culinary rack were a bit taller they'd hold the eating utensils better. Finally, the culinary tool rack robs space from the rack where you put glassware. My least favorite thing about the dishwasher is the utensil basket which occupies an entire side of the main drawer #where you put the dishes#. It's too big taking up too much valuable space. If it were 1/3 the size or even 1/4 the size, it would be just fine. Also, there are small door closures on the top of the utensil basket which seem a bit cheap on an expensive dishwasher. The doors on the utensil basket routinely come off their little tracks which is an annoyance. In my opinion additional engineering is called for in both the culinary rack and the utensil basket. In sum, this is a really good dishwasher. I would indeed buy the same one again although I'd like to see a bit more engineering devoted to both the culinary tool rack and the utensil basket. +

I bought this dishwasher over 2 years ago and it's been nothing but trouble. Initially it worked well for two months, then the dishes started to come out dirty. Then the top rack holders broke. Now it has been stopping in the middle of the cycle and turns off. The soap dispenser does not open up. It is quiet, but doesn't work. I have to repeat the cycle several time to finish one cycle. My dishes sometimes take 3-4 turns to get cleaned and finish the cycle. I paid so much for this unit and it seems like money went down the drain.

Comments about KitchenAid Superba Series EQ Stainless Steel Undercounter Dishwasher:
I have had several KitchenAid dishwashers over the years and this is the best. It is so quite, I do not even know it is running unless I look at the lights. We replaced our last KitchenAid because we were updating the kitchen and changing to stainless appliances.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Horrifically bad, do not buy!

Have had this for a year. Two or three loads per week are very dirty. Had circuit board replaced and door seal replaced. Still leaks, and still does not clean. We use tablets and Lemi-Shine. Mostly the unit just stops or resets mid-load. LEDs flicker and changes load, even with control lock on. Sometimes the door, which does not latch well just pops open during a load. I cannot imagine a worse dishwasher, and we will never buy KitchenAid again. Buying a Miele today...

constantly breaks and customer service are mean

I purchased my dishwasher this year in summer (August) 2015 and it had broken few times now,, I did have a technician come out and the control panel was broken and mother board or something like that.. Was broken too..Got that replaced broke again.. Technician ordered new parts again I had to wait for at least 2 weeks for the parts to arrive and for him to come out... I have 3 kids so I have tons of dishes everyday to wash... I've been complaining that I need this thing fixed right away,, it's just too hard to wait for this long it's been a month now since my dishwasher broke... They just don't care and can't do anything about it... Parts came in dishwasher got fixed 2 months later my dishwasher breaks again.., I call the appliances hospital tell them that this dishwasher is broken again,, they suggest me that I have it replaced under the warranty called whirlpool to see if I can have this dishwasher replaces since we puchssed it less than half a year ago and it keeps breaking and that technician has been coming out to my house more than 3 times already.. They're answear was absolutely not,, I'm not qualified for replacement and that their warranty only covers fixing not replacements,, and that there is nothing they can do about it... I also mentioned that during this season my hands are very sensitive to water and cracks very easily and very sore and that I did not buy this dishwasher to wash my dishes by hand and it's not my fault that their dishwasher have manufacture issues that this shouldn't be my problem to deal with but looks like I'm the one who's dealing with it... They seriously don't care... And there is nothing they can do about it.. I would not recommend this brand Kitchen Aid and Whirlpool to anybody.. My friend had same story with dishwasher but years ago... Same thing.
Terrible. Walk away.

My parents and I both purchased Kitchen Aide dishwashers for new construction homes (theirs around Nov. 2013, mine April 2014). Design flaws everywhere!!!Weakest latch ever. This dishwasher ruined the cabinet above due to humidity oozing out of the weak latch. My best guess is this humidity is what shorted out the control panel last night. The door comes unscrewed ... a lot. As in, the stainless interior becomes separated from the exterior of the door (which exaggerates the weakest latch ever). The top rack is useless. Anything you put up there doesn't come clean. The top rack was actually installed for about 3 runs of our dishwasher ... now the pieces are just junk we have stored for 1.5 years. It doesn't clean well. I've never had to pre-wash and post-scrub dishes for any of my past 4 dishwashers like I do with this one.The racks are cheap; particularly the way they are held on the rails. My parents racks both broke ... because the door separated. It is quiet. Every once in awhile it will make a noise similar to someone with indigestion. But that is really all you can hear.At one year, my husband and I actually called to discuss the issues with KitchenAid. We were told that the appliance is "working" ... and that there are no clauses in the warranty for design flaws. We ALMOST replaced the "working" appliance then. I'm sort of glad the control panel died, now I at least have an excuse to FINALLY liberate my house from this hunk of junk!
Very quiet, cleans well

We purchased this dishwasher 3 weeks ago and we are pleased with the performance. It is very quiet and the 3 levels of racks works well for us. The dishes come out very clean, even the heavily soiled baking pans.
Kitchen Aide Dishwasher is so quiet I can't hear it running!

Purchased a few weeks ago at a great price because it was last year's model. This has to be the quietest dishwasher ever as I can barely hear it when standing right next to it. Excellent job in washing the dishes,. The only down side is the silverware basket. It's sometimes difficult to get silverware into the slots and even more difficult to take them out. Glad I saved my basket from my old dishwasher .

I bought this because I am SICK of washing the dishes before the dishwasher "washes" the dishes. So far this thing does a bang up job and I am completely satisfied.
Quiet and versatile, however performance yet TBD
from Mississauga, ON, Canada
I never owned a dishwasher prior to purchasing this model, therefore have no frame of reference, however from personal experience, I can say that I am satisfied with the cleaning performance. I am at the 1 year mark, and just experience a problem with the drainage. Am waiting for service technician, and albeit, although this is covered under the warranty, I am worried of what this means for future. It definitely is quiet, and it's very flexible in terms of removing racks to accommodate larger sized pots/pans/items.

Less than 1 year after I purchased it the control board went out and I had it replaced. And now, in less than 1 1/2 years later it's gone out again. I read customer reviews on Amazon and the rating for this dishwasher was 1.2, the lowest I have ever seen. This is a recurring problem. I will never buy Kitchenaid again.
