It is being used in a residental kitchen. It cleans better than my old whirlpool and is more efficient than the old one as well. The con that I can talk about is the door that is hard to open. Otherwise this machine is a cleaning horse. It runs at least 2 times a day and on some days 3. No issues cleaning pots and pans either.

.....after the wash/dry cycle has been completed; the entire load of dishes (even the empty dishwasher) smells like rotting fish at the seashore. I have NEVER had this problem with any of my 3 previous dishwashers. It is NASTY. Overall, the machine does a darn good job cleaning the dishes compared to my previous dishwashers AND it is very quiet (I have in my kitchen which opens up to a great room. We hear very little from it when it's running. I do use the recommended JetDry. If there is a solution to getting rid of the smell, I would give this a 5-star rating.

Comments about Maytag Jetclean Plus MDB7749 White Undercounter Dishwasher:
Less than three years old--quit working. Same issue as many other I've found online. I can't seem to remove the right parts or find a video of this exact model to take it apart and clean the strip. I guess I'll be hand washing my dishes this summer. Boo Maytag.

Don' buy it

Bought this unit in 2012, 2 years later had to replace the control panel. Now it's 2 years later and the control panel needs replaced again. I wouldn't take another Maytag product if they were giving it away.
Do NOT buy Maytag or Whirlpool
By FL Mama
I purchased this unit in 2014. It worked great until the control panel started acting up a few months after the warranty period ended. The d/w turns on when it wants. We have to keep the door propped open to prevent it from starting on its own. When I try to run a load the it won't always start when I push the button. Most of the time when I push start another button will light up instead. This morning I pushed delay wash twice and it started my d/w immediately. They've known about this problem for a while and continue to sell this faulty appliance. Stay far away from Maytag and Whirlpool!

I spent a bunch of money for this dishwasher, only to have it breakdown every so many months. Poor design and dependablility. I will never by a Maytag again.

Here's yet another testimony to add to the countless others on multiple websites that Maytag MDB7749 is a defective model. I purchased this dishwasher in June 2014. Just after the one-year warranty expired in August 2015, the control panel began to act up. I'd press the "Normal" cycle button and three others would light up. Then in November it stopped working completely. I called Maytag and the first rep (rather rudely) told me that I would have to pay $99 for a diagnostic service call, and if the diagnosis was a faulty control panel, there was a possibility that it would be replaced at no charge. After getting off the phone and giving this some thought, I was convinced that the idea of paying someone $99 to tell me what I already know didn't make any sense at all. I called back and calmly explained that I'd seen review after review online describing the exact same problem and that it wasn't reasonable to pay someone to diagnose a known problem. Long story short, I persisted and was able to speak to a manager, and they finally agreed to send a local repairman and pay for the diagnostic. The repairman came this past week. After removing the control panel (VERY easily I might add if you're thinking about replacing it yourself- only a few screws and a quick wire harness disconnect) we looked at the ribbon on the control panel and the same rust that so many other reviewers have noted was present. Before he installed the new one, I asked to take a look at it. Good news is that the ribbon on the new panel appears to have been upgraded with a glossier finish than the old one. I'm hoping that means it will be more moisture-resistant. In his notes he had been instructed by Maytag not to charge me for the diagnosis or the part but to charge me for the labor. Although I felt it was wrong to pay anything for this repair, I was tired of haggling over it and agreed to pay the $130 labor charge. To sum up, don't buy this unit. In fact, it would be wise to consider brands other than Maytag/Whirlpool as reviews on many other recent models highlight similar defects as well.
4 years old and needing a major part
its a nice unit but the main control panel is already out costing another $160. Only 4 years old. Sad
Maytag is not what it use to be

Maytag appliances are really junk today - made by whirlpool. Never again - I have always owned Maytag appliances but now after having my dishwasher fall apart after warranty and an extended warranty (which you have to purchase today) however I really believe a button gets pressed when all warranty is off and your appliance self destructs. I also own a microwave and the handle broke off - really that's junk!!
It's OK, but parts are ridiculous

We have owned this dishwasher for years, and it is fine for a middle of the road applicance. However, the keypad went out, and I had to pay for a new one, which was 129.00. Then the high heat sensor went out, so I popped it out, plugged in the new one, and it failed 2 months later because I didn't use this goofy terminal strip with it. Apparently the TB adds resistance and limits current to the sensor and the second one works. However, the keypad failed in 14 months, and I had to buy another one, and the cost went up to 148.00. Fortunately I can install everything myself. So, with the repairs, I could have bought another better unit for a few bucks more. Poorly thought out seals, poor venting (goes right under counter causing rot), and unreliable soap dispenser are among some of the issues. Not terrible, but I would look for something different and won't buy Maytag again.

Nice enough dishwasher but the panel died after 3 years. I expect a dishwasher to last longer than 3 years. Seemed like the culprit was faulty engineering, as water got inside the panel and corroded the wiring.
