It is being used in a residental kitchen. It cleans better than my old whirlpool and is more efficient than the old one as well. The con that I can talk about is the door that is hard to open. Otherwise this machine is a cleaning horse. It runs at least 2 times a day and on some days 3. No issues cleaning pots and pans either.

.....after the wash/dry cycle has been completed; the entire load of dishes (even the empty dishwasher) smells like rotting fish at the seashore. I have NEVER had this problem with any of my 3 previous dishwashers. It is NASTY. Overall, the machine does a darn good job cleaning the dishes compared to my previous dishwashers AND it is very quiet (I have in my kitchen which opens up to a great room. We hear very little from it when it's running. I do use the recommended JetDry. If there is a solution to getting rid of the smell, I would give this a 5-star rating.

Very Disappointed - Shame on Whirlpool/Maytag! Beware
By Todd King

Comments about Maytag Jetclean Plus MDB7749 Black Undercounter Dishwasher:
I would expect a bit more from Maytag/Whirlpool, but maybe that's too much to ask.I am giving this model (MDB7749AWW) only 1 star because of the lack of support and for a known issue that is not isolated. Of course it worked great to start. Most dishwashers do. But here I am 4 years after and having the same issue as many others. Will not start. I disassembled the control panel looking for issues. None found. Checked out the continuity of the thermal fuse and door switch, examined the working of the door latch and inspected for damage to the control board and ribbon cable to the control panel. No rust found. Perhaps it's between the outside and inside layers of the control panel. Reset the panel by performing the diagnostic test (3 successive hi temp wash/heated dry button touch) and it started once. But was not a full wash. Processed again and only got a partial wash/rinse performed (no drying). Although I could replace any of the parts on this dishwasher, based on what I'm hearing, I'm reluctant to pay for any parts as it appears to be a reoccurring issue. My best guess is that it's the touch panel that is defective. Just no way to tell without dumping extra money into a service call. Yes, I called and almost committed to it. Doesn't sound like Maytag/Whirlpool is willing to stand behind their product and provide service to their customers, so this is where their customers will find another brand to invest in.Shame on you Whirlpool...
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

DISCONTINUED FOR A GOOD REASON!
I am giving this model only 2 stars for it did work beautifully for 4 years, was quiet, cleaned well until one day it just would not start. Did diagnostic test ( 3 successive hi temp wash/heated dry button touch) and it started once. Replaced Electronic Control Board part# w10298356 for 120.00 dollars, waste of $ worked once more...lights not lighting properly and wont start again. Others suggest could be the Touch Pad Control Panel part #w10811149 for about 130.00 dollars. Sigh. But then others say they replaced that 2 times and still did not last. Could be the Door Switch for 22.00 dollars..or Thermal Fuse #1549751 for 16.00 dollars..man this could be adding up if I buy all these parts....not to mention frustration of DH having to install and test each one with the ohm meter! Where is MAYTAG'S recall! They are bound to know why these dw don't start after a couple of years! Wait ....didn't Whirlpool BUY out Maytag...funny I think they did! In fact when we removed the Electronic Control Board to replace it had a Whirlpool sticker on it!!! Sigh. Guess I will buy another dw but not Maytag OR Whirlpool if they give this many problems!

Less than three years old--quit working. Same issue as many other I've found online. I can't seem to remove the right parts or find a video of this exact model to take it apart and clean the strip. I guess I'll be hand washing my dishes this summer. Boo Maytag.
Don' buy it

Bought this unit in 2012, 2 years later had to replace the control panel. Now it's 2 years later and the control panel needs replaced again. I wouldn't take another Maytag product if they were giving it away.
Do NOT buy Maytag or Whirlpool
By FL Mama
I purchased this unit in 2014. It worked great until the control panel started acting up a few months after the warranty period ended. The d/w turns on when it wants. We have to keep the door propped open to prevent it from starting on its own. When I try to run a load the it won't always start when I push the button. Most of the time when I push start another button will light up instead. This morning I pushed delay wash twice and it started my d/w immediately. They've known about this problem for a while and continue to sell this faulty appliance. Stay far away from Maytag and Whirlpool!

I spent a bunch of money for this dishwasher, only to have it breakdown every so many months. Poor design and dependablility. I will never by a Maytag again.
