I researched Island Range Hoods for quite a while before making a purchase. I looked at many brands & price ranges. I felt safe purchasing Whirlpool because of their product reliability and reputation. Every one that walks into my "new" kitchen stops and gasps at the range hood, it is that beautiful! Then I demonstrate the light and different fan speeds, and they are amazed. The lights, 2, are bright enough to be used alone. I don't need any other light around the range. The entire cooktop area is bathed in bright light; but it doesn't create a glare to those around it. The fan has 3 speeds. I rated fan sound as good instead of excellent because on high voices would have to be raised a bit to have conversation standing right near the stove. However, I would rate fan effectiveness as excellent because the only time I can imagine using the fan on high is when cooking a dish that requires a high smoke temp and it would clear the smoke in a flash. I have cooked multiple dishes at the same time and never needed to use high speed because low and medium are so effective. I would highly recommend this range hood to anyone considering such an investment. Try Whirlpool before going with the other fancy brands or giant price tags. You won't be disappointed. I believe, like me, you will fall in love with your range hood!
