If all speaker units ...
from Yeadon, PA
Comments about Panasonic 5.1 Channel 3D Blu-ray Home Theater System:
If all speaker units would function, then would say it is a good deal, However, the center speker along with the surrond speakers have no sound. Switching wires I find that all speakers and wires are all OK but, in its designated connection there is no sound except for the The two front and the Subwoofer speakers. In the "test" mode all speakers have sound.
Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

Hesitated. Glad I didn't.
I looked for a system for my apartment for probably around 2 months. I stumbled on a after Christmas special for this system. I hesitated to drop the money on it. It was quite a bit less than MSRP, and free shipping. I'm GLAD I didn't put it off. Some of these reviews will have you second guessing yourself. I'm saying don't. I also own a 50'' Panasonic plasma, and they go nicely together. I will detail more below. Sound Quality: Extremely good. My friends, and family have been blown away with this thing so far. The bass can be incredible. I keep it at only 1/2 setting, and my downstairs neighbor still complained. She said it sounded like a concert in my apartment. Nothing wrong with that, but I did respectfully bring it down a notch. Music from Pandora can vary. Modern music is pounding, some oldies have no volume of sound. People have to keep in mind sound quality isn't JUST because of your system. Quality of content matters as well. *I should add that if you run the two rear speakers as wireless, you can buy two additional speakers to make this unit a 7.1 right out of the box without buying a whole new system!* Construction: Fits very nicely in my apartment space. Compliments my TV well. Parts appear to be constructed very well. Nothing too cheap feeling. Blu-Ray Player: Great player as always from Panasonic. Reasonable upstart time. Good amount of menu options. Main Concerns (Cons): Few things to say here. 1. The wires that run the speakers are white. Everything is black, and the wires are white? I think it's in regards to if you hang them, a lot of people paint their walls white. Makes sense in that respect. If you run the two rear speakers as wireless (which is included to do right out of the box) this didn't matter much. The wires run behind my couch for speakers that sit on both sides. The wires in the front were all behind my TV. 2. Set up can be tedious if you aren't adept at this kind of thing. Not just the physical setup, but the firmware / menu settings as well. It wasn't a problem for me because I'm up to speed at this kind of thing. I can see how it could be for others though. The documentation is thick as some have noted. However everything you need to know is there. You can adjust everything just beyond the display options on the front of the player with your remote. More detailed sound adjustments are in the menus as well. Most likely people don't read the manuals at all then complain when they struggle which isn't fair to Panasonic. Tech knowledge helps. 3. Some joint integrations between the TV, and the system bother me. If I listen to Pandora I can't just turn my TV off, and the music continues to play. Or if you put in a CD/ Ipod. If you turn your TV off it shuts off the player as well automatically. Not necessary. Also if you use Viera Cast aps (my tv has them, and so does my player included with the system) make sure you designate which remote it is you are using when you go to them. I used my TV remote to go to Pandora, and my girlfriends account was there as always. The next time I went to the aps I used the bluray player remote, and there was no account listed. I had to put in my info for my own account, and add hers. The aps seem to be not linked from TV to the player. Easy fix though. Just always access Viera Cast aps from either the TV, or your player. Just choose one to use, and use the corresponding remote.

Bought this overpriced underfunctioning "thing" yesterday. First, the money paid for this and I "STILL" need to buy more cables! Secondly, if you arent too electronic savvy, nothing is offered to make this anything close to easy. Spent all day yesterday trying to get this thing to work right. Nine PM, gave up and had a few. Back at it this morning. Come on Panasonic, everyone doesnt live and breathe electronics! Give me some directions I can understand! Lastly, thinking about re-wrapping and bringing this back.
Unable to Remote-control using iPad
Seamless integration is one of the key aspects people look for their devices. This product, at its present firmware revision, currently does not sync or is compatible with iPad or iPhone. Likewise, the system does not have a browser application that allows for dynamic Internet experience.

I am constantly chatting online with tech support. I have had to reset the unit 3-times. Not a big deal, except that I then have to reenter all my wifi and account information for each service such as netflix. Netflix constantly looses its sound, while it works just fine on every other device on my network. Youtube doesn't seem to want to keep my account info, so I cannot access my favorites, or any other videos in my account. The sound quality is ok, but navigating through the settings on the small display on the front of the unit is not always easy. Pandora works fine, but seems to buffer more than any of my other devices. Viewing video other than DVD or BlueRay is quite a chore. Don't bother trying to copy video to a dvd, unless you create a DVD file. Any other video format only plays from an SD card. I have this connected to a Panasonic Viera plasma screen. I figured that if I stayed with a Panasonic hometheatre I would eliminate any incompatibility, I was wrong. This is a really modern and attractive looking unit, but unfortunately the frustration of keeping it working makes me want to take a hammer to it. Hopefully month 2 will have better results.

Great for watching movies
from Los Angeles, CA
I purchased this unit to use with my Panasonic 3D plasma TV. First, let me say that it makes movie watching a pleasure. The sound is now as good as the picture. The range of settings so you can get just the sound you want, is great. The problem is that using those settings isn't easy. Basic settings are in the settings menu, where you'd expect, but there are audio and surround settings that are only displayed on the unit's LED display. An OSD would have been better, for two reasons. The LED display is fairly small, and like a number of other Panasonic products, it isn't easy to read, if it is substantially below eye level. Most media cabinets, place the accesories below the TV, and therefor, below eye level. I'm happy with this unit because the sound is superb, the bass is solid, the midrange islively and the high frequencies are crisp and smooth. About the only thing I wish I could figure out to do is listen to the FM radio or Pandora, without the TV needing to be on. It might be possible, but I haven't figured that out. Do youself a favor and experiment with the setting till it suits your needs.

Best Home Theater Period!!!
from Las Vegas
About Me Movie Enthusiast, Pro Audio / DJ, Tech Savvy
I have the first model Blu-Ray home theater system that Panasonic (Bought Here!!!) came out with and I was so blown away from that one that a couple years later I had to have this one. Has built in WIFI Wireless rear speakers. The only thing I didn't like was the design could have been designed a little more stylish.

Better than my SC-BTT750
from Pocatello, ID
I'm going to focus on the parts of this system that really shine over last years model, since I've owned both. The subwoofer is now a downfiring speaker, which has definitely improved the quality of its output in my living room. The previous model blasted sound out of the side, which limited its options for placement. The new sub helps avoid the overly boomy bass that these HTIB systems are infamous for. One of my favorite updates is the metal grille cover in lieu of the soft cloth cover on all the speaker faces. I'm no longer worried about kids sticking their fingers through the cloth and ruining the speakers. Thanks Panasonic for that one upgrade alone :) The 2D-3D conversion is largely a gimmick and has little or no effect. Granted, this may be a 3D issue with my TV. I only have one 3DTV to test this on. The remote is improved with a dedicated Netflix button and all the online apps seem to run smoother on this system.
