I have noticed that our clothes are coming out cleaner and that the dryer de-wrinkler does make a difference. I just can't figure out why GE didn't include a chime or even a buzzer that alerts you to the end of the drying cycle.

I purchased this product to replace a similar GE model. We live in a small condo, and the space available for a washer/dryer in our unit is very limited. As such, when comparing options, I looked into 3 different units:
* This unit
* An all-in-one washer and dryer
* Stackable, independent washer and dryer units

Based on my research of the above options, I chose this unit over the all-in-one based on the reviews of the all-in-one options that were less than flattering. I don't think the single-machine wash-then-dry has quite matured to the point where it can beat a separate washer and dryer--which this GE unit provides at a substantially cheaper price. Further, I chose this over separate stacked washer and dryer units based on the cost. This little unit was about 60% of the cost of the most affordable stacked units.

I have absolutely 0 regrets in purchasing this unit. My laundry needs are for only my wife and myself and this little unit will more than suffice for our clothing and bedding needs. You're not going to be able to wash heavy comforters, and it usually takes us 3-4 loads to get through a few weeks worth of laundry, but it's nothing that I would consider to be unreasonable. It's quiet enough--our neighbors have never complained (we live on the 3rd floor of a 3-story complex). Lastly, I like that it is a top-loading washer. Most of the other options are front loading. In our utility closet we also have a furnace that is close to the unit, and were it to be a front loading machine, I would constantly be banging the washer door into my furnace.

For all of the reasons above, this unit has served me perfectly well.
