Features:

  • DECT 6.0 Plus DECT Plus technology takes the superb sound quality and outstanding range of DECT 6.0 phones to a whole new level. By increasing the frequency of error correction by up to 80x, the transmission quality is improved and the phone's range is extended. Engineered to work in 1.9GHz frequency, our DECT 6.0 phones won't conflict with common wireless devices such as 2.4GHz routers, wireless keyboards and mice, microwave ovens and other household items. And because it's digital, you'll enjoy long range and clear sound while deterring eavesdropping.
  • Talking Caller ID Now you can hear whos calling from across the room without having to get up. Using text-to-speech technology. Panasonic phones featuring Talking Caller ID that announces caller ID information in between rings. What could be more convenient?
  • Intelligent Eco Mode This feature automatically lowers the power consumption when you're using the handset close to the base unit. Not only does it extend the available talk time, it's good for the environment. When less power is used by the handset to communicate with the base unit, battery life is prolonged which results in less frequent charging and can result in fewer batteries in landfills.
  • Tone Equalizer Everyone hears differently. To maximize clarity or accommodate hearing loss, Panasonic added Call Tone Control to select 2011 models. This exclusive feature actually lets you control the bass, mid-range or treble tones in a callers voice for maximum clarity.
  • Silent Mode Now you can program each handset to ring or not at your discretion. For example, before you go to sleep, set the bedside handset to Silent Mode so that it won't ring for the duration of your slumber. In the meantime, the handset in another room is unaffected, and rings as usual.
  • Non-Slip Handset Multi-tasking while you are talking on a cordless handset – whether it's jotting down a quick note, pouring a glass of juice or folding a few pieces of laundry – is often difficult due to the tendency of the handset to slip as you cradle it on your shoulder. The rubberized grip helps prevent slipping, making it easier and more comfortable to cradle the phone when you want to work with your hands.

Pros: The Panasonic KX-TG6644 series is a great phone with many usable features. We purchased the KX-TG6644 to replace another Panasonic cordless phone we have had for about 8 years and worked flawlessly. We bought the new model because we needed more handsets but the updated version came with some good new features like a larger LCD screen so easier to read names and numbers, larger number buttons so easier to hit right button without making a mistake, Ability to block phone numbers without being able to see number, Ability to put stored phone book into groups to more quickly be able to scroll through only those numbers that are relevant. The ability to use the phone during a power failure.Usually cordless phones will not function when there is a power failure because the base is dead, but this new Panasonic powers the base from the stored energy of the handset so you still have access to a phone during a power failure. And of course the traditional features like Talking caller ID, Speakerphone on handsets, intercom between handsets, handset locator, and the clarity of the phone when using either the regular or speakerphone mode. Cons: There are only a couple of cons. One is obvious Panasonic should have increased the size of the phone book. On the older model each handset had its' own phone book so there were a maximum of 100 listings (2 handset model) in the KX-TG6644 all the handsets share a common phone book so you are limited to 50 listings. This is a major problem. A larger phone book should have been an obvious upgrade especially since we can group listings. Another smaller con is there is a little delay when trying to enter the phone book. On the older model the change between screens was instantaneous on the new model there is a slight delay loading the phone book to the larger LCD screen. The user manual is a little difficult to get through but once you get the overview it is rather easy to find how to customize features. Overall the Panasonic cordless phones have been a great home phone with lots of great usable features with no problems. We purchased Panasonics originally mostly because of the talking caller ID feature which saves me from having to run to the phone when it rings, but also because of the Panasonic reputation. We purchased the newer model based on our satisfaction with the older model and other Panasonic products.

I bought the phone on July 28, 2011, by August 8, 2011 one of the handsets was not working, it took about 3 weeks for the exchange. On October 4, 2011 another handset became inoperable. So now it will take another 3 weeks back and forth for replacement. I think that is a lot of defection in a short period of time. I also made the mistake of buying directly from Panasonic, if I had bought it from a store I could have replaced it immediately, THe turn around time is too long.

Annoying Assumption

Pros

Cons

    Best Uses

I recently bought this product and I was a bit bothered by the fact that the toll saver feature is set at two rings and five rings. My previous phone gave me control of the ring count before the unit answers. In my case I prefer two/four for the following reason: I had the voice mail of my service provider set to pick up on the fifth ring with the phone set to two/four. This worked very well. I do not see any advantage to going to two/five. I feel this should be up to me to decide as the user of the system. Your pre-determining of this setting just makes it take longer for the caller to wait for the machine to pick up. If I do not use the toll saver feature I can set the machine to answer on the fourth ring. Why can't the answering ring count be the same and under my control?

      My New Phone

      Best Uses

Good phone for the price. However, there is one thing missing that my old and worn our Panaonic had and that is an easy way to tell you have a message on the phones other than the master station. In my old phone, all phones had a blinker on top that when blinking indicated you had a message. You have to pick up this phone and look at the screen on the the remote phones to tell that you have a message. Only the master station has a blinking light telling you that you have a message(s)

I have had a Panasonic phone system for years and decided to buy this system for my elder brother.. With the number of units you can always have one near by so a our age 77 and 79 you don't have far to walk to answer the phone.. I think they are great buy and I am completely satisfied with how they work.. A great buy...

I bought two sets, and was amayzed with the quality considering the price. Very nice looking phones, easy to set up, and the features are at a finger tip reach on the phones. The larger key pad is great for handicapped folks too. I would highly recommend this set. I have a very large house and the range is exceptional. My Mother gave a great review as well, I installed one set there too.

I ordered this package for use by a friend who is blind and has other issues with using technology. She has been determined to learn how to use the essential features and has been quite successful. She was one of my first students 50 years ago and continues to wish to learn new things. The technician (Jessica?) who helped me select the most useful model was most accurate in her choice for us. Thank you.
