I updated all my appliances and decided to spend more money on the range and fridge and not worry about spending so much on the dishwasher since they are all pretty much alike. I was pleasantly surprised. This dishwasher cleanes the dishes perfectly, even getting out that horrible white film on my glasses that my previous washer could not. There is so much space since the flatware basket is on the door. The design is beautiful with its sleek and clean lines. The best thing I love about this machine is the timer. I can load the dishwasher and set its timer to have it run while we're asleep. (Big plus in the summer!) It is not as quiet as I had hoped but that's a minor inconvenience. Besides, if I'm running it while we're asleep we don't hear it anyway! This is a great machine for the money.

CONS:Have owned less than 8 mo. and it does not clean the dishes. We thoroughly rinse and scrape the dishes before-hand and it still doesn't help. It is only the two of us, and my wife cooks one meal a day, so the DW is loaded to about half its capacity. Using the best detergent doesn't help .To get half a load clean, we have to use the heaviest and hottest settings. The lightest cycle runs 2 hours. The flatware rack is in the door - the bottom rack rolls out on top of it. To load flatware, push the rack back in. To load plates, pull it back out. Only other solution - put the flatware basket in the sink for loading.PROS:It is quite and spacious inside.

Cleans well & no problems after 6 yrs in rent house
from Shreveeport, LA
Comments about Whirlpool 24" Black Built-In Dishwasher:
I installed this dishwasher in my rent house in 2010 and it is still going strong. Tenants have all liked it and I'm happy it's been repair free. This week the door began to leak on one side during pots & pans cycle. Turns out the new tenant dropped a heavy knife on that side causing a slit in the gasket. Not the dishwasher's fault!

because the food seems fresher, The ice is tastier and it runs so quietly. I had to check if I plugged it in.

I will never buy another Whirlpool appliance. I bought 4 new appliances in 2010 and everything has broken except the fridge!

Adequate but Loud
from Tampa, FL
This was the dishwasher the builder included with our house when we bought it 3 1/2 years ago. It's adequate. It cleans dishes pretty well, except for the really stuck on stuff but we're constantly having to rewash flatware because it didn't get clean in the rack. My biggest problem is that it's LOUD. I've got an open concept first floor and I always have to crank up the TV volume while it's running. It was ok as a starter dishwasher but I'm ready to upgrade to something quieter and more energy effcient.
Cleans it all. I love love love it!

No rinsing required. Love the delay feature. I can fill it to the brim and the dishes come out shining.

Purchased and installed in August 2010, the unit has worked fine for the past 4 years. Then it quit. Maybe it's a circuit board. The technician will have to solve that problem. Will cost over $200 to repair. I would think Whirlpool could manufacture a product that would work longer than 51 months.
This dishwasher came with our house, which was built 4 years ago. It is great at removing most food and drink particles. In the past couple of months it has started to have problems though. It stops before they cycle has completed so it is left with water in the bottom. According to the repair man this is due to the control board needs to be replaced.
whirlpool failure to satisfy
after less than two years of use, i replaced both circuit board and soap dispenser. i still need to replace friction pad which keeps door from coming up when one wants to load or empty the machine.
