Seemed to be the largest washer size (depth) among the stackable options. Well-made product, easy to use with just enough features. Needs a buzzer to remind you when a load is done, but that's a minor issue. If space is an issue, this is a great option. Can still wash/dry very large loads (towels, etc) and up to a queen size comforter easily.

We purchased this unit in early 2012 to replace a previous similar GE unit that happily lasted 12 years. Do not buy this unit (as of 2012). This unit is apparently a relatively new design/redesign as of 2012 and it was badly done. Considering there two obvious flaws in the first couple months I am very concerned about "what's next".The initial flaw (which ABT dealt with well) is the knob immediately broke. Several other people had experienced this (as noted in other reviews) and ABT was aware of the problem and resolved it quickly by getting a replacement knob and later a correctly designed knob to us.The fatal flaw of the unit is the dryer destroys clothes with "small stuff on it". Small buttons, spaghetti straps, draw strings with knots, and similar items catch in the gap inside the dryer door between the spinning tub and the door (in my opinion). This is a theory I seen in other reviews on different sites. I have also seen it proposed the lent trap catches them. I am not sure which is correct, but the end result is the caught item is at best severely abused (twisted round-and-round) and worst case torn. The ABT service man that came out when we reported the problem was unhelpful (which I find uncharacteristic for ABT) leaving my fiance with the suggestion to not to dry things. To be fair, we have not followed up with ABT again on this issue (though we will be).I subsequent search of the internet found other people having the same problem with the dryer. The proposed solution was to use shims to give the unit a slight backward tilt so the clothes are not pushing against the front of the unit when drying and thus less likely to be caught. I have tried this with no improvement.

Comments about GE 27" Unitized Spacemaker Stack Washer With Gas Dryer:
I live in the country and had to convert to propane use. It was a nightmare of a job. Basically I almost had to disassemble the dryer to perform the conversion. Then of course reassemble. I am pretty handy and it took my wife and I over 4 hours. My advice, hire it done whatever the cost. My wife loves the convience of the unit and it does a good job of washing and drying.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

Great pair, great size, great cleaning and drying

Read reviews before buying and I was not disappointed. This is a full size washer dryer in a compact presentation. We have a small laundry room and it fits well. Washer: There are many features on the washer that I love - the pause button, the auto-fill (the washer determines how much water based on weight), lots of choices for size of load, water temp, agitation and spin (and spin lock out). The tub is deep and accommodates a large amount of clothing, sheets, towels, etc. The basket spins so you can reach the stuff at the back when you are unloading. Dryer: I'm short so I appreciate the dials being where I can reach them and the bottom of the dryer is at eye level for me so I can unload with no problems. Again, good features with plenty of selections for type of fabric being dried. Only cons: no buzzer on dryer :( and washer is a little noisy during agitation. My solutions - I've purchased a timer with a magnet for a buzzer and I close the laundry room door.

I am extremely pleased with this washer/dryer combo! It is a tight fit in my condo but it works well. I love the huge basin in the washer allowing me to wash fewer loads during the week. I had to adjust to the slower washer agitation but it washes my laundry very well. The large dryer is very efficient with various temperature settings.

We purchased this unit almost 3 months ago and have experienced great results from each and every load of laundry ran through it.

Loving it so far! Great space saver! Recommended by a friend and glad she did.
I made a good choice!

Just did my first load of laundry today, and was so pleased with how quiet it was, both the washer and dryer.
They are ok. Laundry comes out fine.

This is ok for a small apartment. Re: washer. Since the lid doesn't open fully, it is difficult to reach in & pull the wet clothes out. I am 5'2"(short, I guess) and I cannot see the bottom of the top dryer to make sure I get all the dried small stuff out. It does clean/dry well, and is relatively quiet.

I am extremely happy with the laundry center. The size of both the washer and dryer are great. Just as big as full size appliances. The only drawback is that the dryer does not have a buzzer to signal that the cycle is ending.
Effective for a small space

The washer/dryer has been working and, tucked away in a small closet, saves us space in our apartment.

This is the first day I used my new machines and they were excellent. looking forward to seeing a change in my utility bills. It is a little noisy when agitating but that maybe normal other than that is seems fine. I like the fabric softener dispenser and if load is in between sizes the washer has its own sensor for water level, now you can't beat that. The dryer is wonderful I have know complains. I can look forward to doing my laundry...
