I bought this Maytag stacked unit to replace a 13-year old Kenmore unit that needed a new washer motor. I expected this Maytag to work better because I assumed stacked units had improved over the years. Boy was I wrong! The spin cycle is horrible. I had to spin loads twice to get enough water out to match the quality I had with the old unit. The Sensor dry function is useless because the dryer keeps going for hours even if the item(cotton bath rug) is dry. Timed Dry only has a high heat setting.

After testing the machine with different loads and settings for 10 days, I called Abt to set up a service call. I wanted to be sure I didn't have a lemon. (Abt is the only store I'll buy a service/warranty plan from because they have excellent service). The service guy tested the washer and dryer and said they worked fine. He said that sometimes the sensor dry electric bars (below the lint filter) do not work if the vent pipe is clogged. I live in a condo building where the dryer vent connects to a pvc vent pipe that runs up to the roof so I have no idea when or if it gets cleaned. Anyway, I called my salesperson and said I would be in to return this machine and buy front loaders.

Two days later, I met my salesperson Paul at the Abt store and selected Whirlpool Duet front loaders for more money. The new machines were delivered a couple days ago. So far so good and worth the extra money but I have lots of laundry to do before writing a review for those!

Bottom line: Do not buy this machine if you can avoid it. If your laundry closet has space for this 27" stacked unit, then you can probably fit stackable 27" front loaders. Measure the space, spend the extra money and get the stackable front loaders.

4.5 stars for Abt delivery only because they call you between 7-9am on delivery day to notify you of your 2-hour delivery window. I would prefer to know the day before. On the plus side, they are punctual.

I purchased this to put upstairs in my home as my late husband did not want me to carry the laundry up and down the cellar steps. It does a great job and holds more clothes than I expected. Yes, it is noisier than my front loader in the cellar but then I can close the door to the room it is in and that cuts down a lot of the noise. It is the only unit I found with both drums made of steel and not plastic. The person who installed the unit was very impressed with the quality.

This washer/dryer unit does all that I expected and more. It will hold a much larger quantity of clothes than I thought and is very efficient. It is a little nosiy compared to my front loader in the basement but since I cannot haul the laundry up and down the steps I will tolerate the noise. I just close the door to the room it is in and it is not that bad. The dryer does an excellent job of drying - once I figured out the settings!

The equipment works as advertised so no complaints there. I purchased it to replace an old stackable Maytag set. It appeared to have the exact same dimensions so I had no worries about fitting into my small laundry closet. Unfortunately the installers found out the new model requires more clearance in the back for hook up than the old and as a result I am not able to shut the door and the unit is visible at all times in my kitchen. Major frustration and prompts me to suggest that in addition to product dimensions it would be highly useful to include how much additional space will be required for proper set up.

I'm not happy at all. ABT delivered the machine just fine, but after installation (and proper leveling) the washing machine starts thumping around for even a small load during the spin cycle. It appears as though the washing machine drum wasn't properly balanced or attached during assembly. The only spin cycle that doesn't make the machine bump around is one with no load!!!! Lame. So I've had to push past the spin cycle to finish the wash and then HAND WRING CLOTHES before putting them in the dryer.The dryer does work fabulously though, and the "dryness" detector works well as I've been putting in soaked clothes due to the issue above and clothes come out totally dry (after more time of course)So I called Maytag to get some service and they referred me to A&E for service ([@]) who makes an appointment 10 days out....also annoying. They are supposed to finally arrive tomorrow to "fix" this issue. So I guess I'll see how well this thing works after that.I tried calling local Maytag authorized service centers, but of course they won't warranty service any machine they didn't sell! LOL, so I guess I would have had to pay 30% more with them than the ABT price to get their "certified" service. Hilarious!It does have a clean fit finish and the controls are easy to use, maybe when the repair guy puts the washer together properly I'll have better things to say....I hope....
