I've used this product for quite a time. At first glance, the fit and finish looks good, light, easy to handle. The SWM is a great addition for users of all entry level camera bodies, AF speed is acceptable and MF override is possible. Image quality wise, TREMEDOUS, it goes beyond my expectation even at widest aperture (though contrast dropped just a little), sharpness is great at the center, the corner is not bad, then everywhere looked tack-sharp just around F2.8 - 4. Background blur is a little harsh wide-opened and becomes most pleasing around F2.8 All in all, if you're a DX shooter, go to buy this lens now, I know you'll love this just like me.

This is a very sharp lens with crisp contrast. The colors are snappy and the color cast is neutral. The area of caution for me is the bokeh. If you want this lens for general picture making and/or available light-type photography, it's a good choice. I got it because I needed a lens that I could use at large apertures for full-length to waist up portraiture. It has a good angle of view on my D300s, but the bokeh is not smooth. It's passable with simple backgrounds, but if there is anything visually complex in the distance it doesn't smooth out. Instead, you get these weird patterns going on that are only a little less distracting than if I stopped the lens down. I've tried everything from wide open down to f/4 and nothing really looks very good. I understand there are limits with shorter focal length lenses, but I thought Nikon might give us something more here. But hey, it's a very low priced lens, so...

    Incredible lens!

    By Photographer

    from NH

Comments about Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f1.8G Lens:

I purchased this glass for use with my [new] Nikon D7100, and I was absolutely thrilled with the shots I achieved! It's lightweight, inexpensive, and really fun to use, actually. It's really great when you are shooting in low-light situations. I am enthralled by this lens; the magnificent clarity, the amazingly smooth bokeh, the astounding depth of field, and the solid feel and flawless performance. I would recommend this to any photographer; the beginner, the enthusiast, and the professional.

Comments about Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f1.8G Lens:

I use the 35 mm f1.8 prime lens along with my 18-55 Kit lens and 55-200 tele-zoom lens. Light weight camera bag but 28 mm up to 300 mm range (D3100 DSLR) for nature and travel pictures. Recommended for all.

Comments about Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f1.8G Lens:

I love this lens! It has good build quality and the focal length is perfect for shooting walk around photography without any distortion. Images are super-sharp and it adds just the right amount of weight to my D7100 camera. Low-light photography is excellent! I highly recommended trying one out!

      Outstanding and Highly Cost Effective

      By ExPatinItaly

Comments about Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f1.8G Lens:

Truly exceptional sharpness and contrast. I'm a long time Nikon user and adding this fixed focal length lens to the stable of contemporary zooms has been a great choice. Terrific in low light candids. Also outstanding in landscape and architectural shooting with color, sharpness, contrast and minimal distortion unexpected at this price. I'm personally enjoying revisiting the earlier days when composition was done with a fixed focal length prime, of course then on a rangefinder 35 mm camera. Interesting how going back to basics sharpens skills.

The best value lens Nikon makes

      By giggingit

      from Suffolk, VA, USA

Comments about Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f1.8G Lens:

I already have a 50mm 1.8/G for use on FX, which I use with my D600, so I almost decided not to buy this lens. However, the price is too good to pass up. I have been very pleased with this decision. Focusing capability is quite fast on my D7100, and the pictures are clean and crisp. Low light performance is great. Bokeh isn't quite as nice as the 50/1.8, but when used stopped down their performance is equal. I especially enjoy how light the 35mm is and it is well sized to match a DX body.

#1 lens you need for DX camera

      By dandi

      from Seattle, WA

Comments about Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f1.8G Lens:

If I have to keep only one lens for my D5100 or D200 it would be this 35mm 1.8. When I go on vacation and I know I have to walk a lot I just take one this lens and never miss any other lenses. Very simple to use, nothing gets in your way, yet excellent quality, colors. Very good in low light. Fast, very sharp, light and inexpensive. You can't go wrong with this one for your DX Nikon body.

      Great Lens

      By THEBEAST

Comments about Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f1.8G Lens:

Great Lens, Takes great shots and has a nice wide angle. I just have the kit lens that came with my 3200 (18-55mm) and I use both lenses but this lens is the one I use the most because it takes wider shots and is better in my opinion for portraits.
