I have a small old house, built in 1949 with old windows and doors that leak lot of air... in and out. The cooling area is about 500 sq ft and this unit can bring the temp down to 72 with no problem. The remote is easy to use and understand. Unit is relative quiet. Filter is easy to access and clean.

I bought 2 of these LG 10,000 BTU window units when my central a/c went down in June 2011 right at the beginning of the hottest summer ever where I live. Not only did I find these units cooled my house but did so using less electricity than my central unit does. I got the central a/c unit fixed but still used these units most of the time and couldn't be happier. I intend to keep these units and perhaps buy one of LG's portable units to cool the space that I didn't have window units placed in.

This is used in the den where the computer and other heat generating equipment is. This unit cools well even on the hottest days.

Lighting knocked my central unit down last thursday morning and almost I cooked that afternoon.Bought 2 LW1011ER window units that night as it will be days before the central unit can be repaired. Boy what a deal...2 10k window units cooling my doublewide as well as the 4 ton central unit. Outside temp 104 to 109 last few days and its 78 inside AND they turn on and off on energy saver. I am very pleased with these units. They are louder than my central unit but that is to be expected. Any fan pushing air is going to make some noise and these really push the air when on high. Energy saver is a nice feature and can set the temp and the fan speed too. I'm no longer in a hurry to get central unit repaired as I think these are going to run cheeper than it does. The 5 year in home warranty is a great feature also. I'm super happy with these units so far and hope they outlast the warranty period with no problems. I think any drawbacks you find with these units will be found on any other window air conditioner also.

Love this unit for the energy savings and great cooling. It has been working overtime in our 110 degree heat and cooling 3 rooom of over 700 square feet upstairs in our house and it has been comfortable to work in. Was expecting a huge electric bill but it was more like a spring bill than hot summer bill. we have a larger unit in the down stairs and it is working just as well.
