This is the quietest dishwasher we've had in 40 years. It cleans very well and would merit 5 stars plus if only the bottom rack did not mis-track so easily. To load bottom rack, the door has to be completely open (reasonable) but if the bottom rack is more than 2/3 pulled out, the wheels will slide off their roll path. You have to manually lift the basket with two hands, and not rattle the plates, to reposition it. (not reasonable)I bought this myself, on-line, based on Consumer Report's strong recommendation. We are learning to cope with the lower basket, but if one is a bit tired, it is easy to forget about its shifting when loading. We needed a dishwasher that was reasonably priced, fairly quiet and reliable. I don't need all the "bells and whistles" of special features in pricier models. This is a two person household, and I no longer host dinner parties for 10.The washer itself cleans very well, but this may be because one can not cram as many plates into it as in my older, non-Bosch d/w. Perhaps this is because we often use heavier, terra cotta plates and/or pasta bowls. It would probably work well with thin, straight plates, especially bone china ones. The upper rack is very good, with foldable tines in one row. There seems to be more head clearance for 22 ounce glasses and taller stemware. The silverware basket has slots that one can fold out of the way, or use to keep similar items from blocking the wash water. One can also secure small items inside the basket. I usually do not wash pots and pans in the dishwasher, so I can't comment on that. I am still pleased with the dishwasher, but my husband (who is V.P. in charge of dishes) becomes frustrated with the lower rack.

I used this dishwasher only twice and had it replaced with the SHEAR72, which as two more cycles. This description is STILL incorrect, as it notes that this machine has 6 cycles. It does not, it has only 4, which is why it was replaced with the AR7, which actually does have 6 cycles.Beyond that, the process to select amount of drying aid to use is WAY TOO COMPLICATED. Drying was very unsatisfactory. Cycles are long and the racks offer little flexibility for different types of dishes. Suitable mostly for plates, cups, and silverware.I'm using the SHEAR72 for the first time today and will see if it performs any better. I expected more from Bosch, as I was very happy with my oldie but goodie. Unfortunately, it was so oldie that parts are no longer available and it had to be replaced.

Comments about Bosch 24" Ascenta White Built-In Dishwasher:
I like that I can just wash the filter once a week instead of washing my dishes before putting them in the washer.

Good reliable product that is quiet and cleans well!
from Park Ridge il
Wonderful product. It actually has buttons, which I think are more reliablele than these newer touch panels that seem to stop working so soon.
Service and delivery comments:
Wonderful deliverer/installer who even gave me advice on some other appliance problems. On time, polite, professional, and respectful of my home.

There's a little getting used to as far as loading. The dishwasher seems to be a little small compared to what I am used to. For a small household like mine it's fine. It washes and dries perfectly and is so quiet you can't even be sure it's on!
Professional and courteous.

It's so quiet that I kept returning to the kitchen to make sure it was running the first two times I used it. Dishes are clean. Settings are easy to read and understand. Abt delivery people were helpful and efficient in setting it up and removing the old one. The only minor issue is that awkwardly shaped dishes take up more space than in old dishwasher.

About Me Every day user
Easy to use, quiet and does a good job. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because the inside is not designed to hold larger utensils like wooden spoons, spatulas and large metal tongs. I wish there was a special place for these utensils.
Quiet and easily maintained

Cleans perfectly. The filters remove with ease and clean up with warm sudsy water. No tools needed to remove and clean spray arms other than a tooth pick to clear ports. Family room is next to kitchen and the running dishwasher is hardly noticeable.

Best Mid-Line Dishwasher Ever!~

Easy to install myself. Super quiet operation and convenient racks that hold a lot. Very clean dishes even in Auto Mode and minimal rinse aid. Couldn't be happier!~
Love my new dishwasher!
from Albany, GA
We've only had it for a couple of days but I'm already in love. It is so quiet that we can watch tv while it's running. Our old dishwasher we had to run at night and still could hear it through a closed bedroom door.I deliberately didn't prerinse the dishes last night just to see how well it would clean. We had white bean soup that had dried on the bowls and utensils. They all came out perfectly clean! I even put in a couple small pots that also came out spotless. I was very impressed. My husband installed the dishwasher and he's not an electrician or plumber, nor is he very handy but he was able to install this dishwasher. The only problem with the installation was the drain hoses from the old dishwasher and the new dishwasher didn't match size wise so he had to go to the hardware store to get new couplings. I do agree with other reviewers that the bottom rack comes off the track too easily but my last one did that too so I can live with this for the trade off of squeaky clean dishes and a quiet dishwasher.
