I am reviewing the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, this review is also written on the same Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. I have had it for a little over a month now and have become very fond of it. It will never be a replacement for a PC however it tend to go to it more for small tasks, quicker actions and to play games. However it is not the type of device for while in school to write papers on and larger activities. There is also going to be compatibility issues while in school and for business. There is many things that can be done but there is still a limit. Physically the Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 is a great size. It can be compared similar to the iPad however the screen ratio is slightly different. Another great feature is the Samsung tab it mainly in landscape compared to most other tablets which as portrait. The SGT 10.1 is very thin and light making it easy to hold and carry around room to room or hotspots, work, friends, or the park. I currently have the WiFi version however i can easily tether it to my phone. The SGT 10.1 has two camera's one on the back with a led flash and one on the front for face chats. There is only two button the on/off and volume up and down, two speakers on the sides, and a port on the bottom used for charging, syncing and accessories. Currently the on accessory i own is the Samsung Docking Keyboard which other has said has lag but i have not realized it, but i am not the fastest at typing. However it is small and takes some getting used to. When you power it on sometimes it takes holding the power button down for a couple seconds and the first screen is the Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1 logo, the first time i got a big smile on my face. Then you will see the Samsung logo with the oval. Followed by the lock screen. As you place your figure over the lock on slide it out of the circle you are not entering technology heaven, the Google Android Honeycomb Operating system. when the main screen starts you will see a simple round clock, and a few basic preinstalled applications. And then the "tool bar" at the bottom. From left to right you start with the back button, self explained as well as the home button and the there is the multitask button. This allows you to switch between programs and screens. Then on the right side is your notifications, an digital clock, you WiFi status and battery life. However when Samsung released the touch wiz update next to the multitask button they put a screen capture button as well as in the middle a quick tools task bar that gives quick link to the task manager, calender, world clock, pen memo, calculator, and music player. If you tap on the right part of the "tool bar" you have a pop up menu that give the time, date, battery life, WiFi Network, then a quick launch to turn on and off your WiFi, Notifications, GPS, Sound, Auto rotation, Bluetooth, and flight mode. Just below that is the screen brightness, followed by a link to your settings. Your settings are very well laid out with the main subjects on the left of the screen and then break it down on the right side, very easy to navigate. Back to the home screen, on the top left you have a good search button and voice search, on the right is you link to apps and + sigh which takes you to the screen to customize your home screen which consist of 5 screens. This allows you to add widgets, shortcuts, wall paper and more. The SGT 10.1 comes with a browser which is great however some web sites do work properly, however that can be solved by downloading the Firefox App. Please do not forget to download adobe flash, to be able to view almost all the the internet and not have the same restrictions as you do on apple products such as the iPad. As you look through the system you will see Samsung apps and well and of course Google apps that are found on most Google android devices, we will get into actual apps at a later date. The Android honeycomb operating system is newer to the mobile world as is still being developed on in terms of market place, however browsing the market place there is no shortage of apps, i have had no problem finding apps for most tasks and games i have used on other android devices. And each time i look through i am seeing and finding more and more. While the SGT 10.1 is a great device and has alot and i mean allot of great things about it, however there are negatives. These negatives are what make this an accessory compared to a replacement of a PC, however it is a better option than the iPad due to it's flash support, the ability to be customize and made your own, your not as restricted as you are with apple products. The negative features are mainly hardware which is lack of USB, which Samsung as given an adapter to fix this issue but it is at cost, just like an HDMI adapter, due to the lack of HDMI on the device. Another feature it is missing is an SD card slot, which would allow not only transferring of files but to be able to expand on the memory. As most tablets are you are unable to take off the cover and get to the battery. Finally this has only happened 2 times prior to the Touch wiz update was that it made it hard to turn on, which other people have complained about but this is solved by holding down the power button for a at least 30 seconds, and or pressing the volume buttons. While the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is a great product and has many great benefits for both home and work. The final question is- is the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 worth the cost of $499.99? While if you have the money to buy one i would say get the SGT 10.1 over the iPad, but if your looking for school or for business I would say get a PC. If your looking for small tasks, portability and something more fun then yes the Samsung Galaxy Tab is your answer.

At a price point that is the same as the entry level iPad2, this tablet delivers similar features. However, as an app developer, I am upset with the choice of the middle landscape power port and the inability to charge while tethered to the computer. Also, having to disconnect the USB cable to go in or our of debugging mode is unacceptable. Otherwise, this is a bang-up job with an excellent display.

Comments about Samsung 16GB Galaxy Tab Wi-Fi Tablet:
Since I got my Galaxy tab I was very pleased that I chose it over the Ipad. I've always been a Samsung fan, and this tab proves why. It's full of tons of amazing features, has a camera, picture editor, does everything you want it to and more.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

My Galaxy Tab 10.1 is very lightweight making it the perfect companion for the road. I have added the Samsung Bluetooth Keyboard case to increase my on-the-road productivity. Highly recommended for all traveling professionals!
My First Android Tablet
When buying an Android tablet this was the only choice. The screen and colors really stand out. The tablet itself is lightweight and thin. Enjoyable product.

My Laptop is getting dusty
from Birmingham, AL
I now use my Galaxy Tab 10.1 more than any of my devices. I now use it instead of carrying my laptop around and I use a MiFi to get conneted to the Internet. The price was about right and I have not had any real issues with it. I have had my Tab for about 7 months now. I even got my wife the 8.9 Tab.

Very good tablet. Does almost everything my Samsung laptop does. I use the tablet for school. I can download all the reading material for classes and even watch videos. I can take notes on the tablet and then sync everything to my laptop at night. It light weight, great to use for reading. I would have rated it 5 stars except for two minor missing features: more built-in RAM (I multi-task a lot) and a USB port.
Easy to navigate, checking mails and play games on it.

The Best tablet I've used.
Compared to other tablets I've used this has the sharpest display with the best colors. Lightweight. With Android it's closer to being a real computer and not just a toy. The only con is no built-in usb or sd card slot, but with WiFi and an app files can be transfered with no problem.
