I'm very pleased with this purchase. The freezer has great capacity and all stored items are easy to see and retrieve. The shelf settings work well for both short and tall items. I like having the big shelves in the door for gallon milk jugs, juice cartons, and all those salad dressing bottles. It's nice to have the wine chilling rack, too. I especially like the way the lights gradually increase intensity as you open the door.My complaints are few and minor. I've learned to cup my hand around the top of the glass when getting ice from the dispenser to avoid ice shooting out and falling on the floor. Also, as with most stainless steel appliances, the handles and surface collect fingerprints daily and require a quick wipe. This is the best refrigerator choice I could have made for our kitchen and way of life.

I loved the look of this refrigerator when I first saw it and the fit was perfect for my cabinets. The first one I received froze everything in the fresh food section. Even when turned up to the maximum temp, a thermometer I placed on a fresh food shelf registered 27 degrees. Also the finish on the door was bad--scratches everywhere.A new one was delivered and liquids stored on the top shelf still freeze occasionally. The finish on the fresh food door is inconsistent--shiny on one corner, matte on most of the rest of the door. Very disappointed.

Attractive and spacious - but useless
from NS Canada
Comments about Whirlpool Black Counter Depth Side-By-Side Refrigerator:
The visual design for this fridge is great: very spacious inside, with useful shelving and bin layout. Unfortunately, that's where the good news ends.... Not only was our unit broken on arrival - insufficient cold air reaching the refrigerator section - it also took another two weeks to get parts in to (supposedly) fix it. But the replacement parts made no difference: the refrigerator section still does not reach anywhere near the set point - so anything put in it spoils quickly. The construction is also shoddy, with flimsy interior parts - and when the tech dismantled part of it, we could see that it had been assembled badly, with some interior parts behind a decorative plate obviously bent and twisted. Finally, the thing is very noisy - made worse by the fact that it's apparently designed to run most of the time.Overall: great interior layout and very attractive visual design, ruined by bad engineering and lousy build quality. And we're still waiting for it to work....

We Really Can't Say
By Grand Dominion
Our Whirlpool appliances came with a brand new Pulte home. After almost eight months, we might have rated them highly; after all, we were used to our 25-year-old ones. We were pleased that, although neither Pulte nor the factory did offered to replace the dented range hood, they DID change the start date of the warranty from Fall, 2014, to June 1, 2015, when we moved in.This proved lucky last week, when water started dripping rapidly from the ice dispenser and onto the hardwood floor. A leak in the system required a new compressor and evaporator, the classic major failure of any refrigerator or freezer. The repairman diagnosed it the next day and another repaired the unit the next morning. That, of course, wasn't soon enough to save all the food in the freezer and most of it in the refrigerator. We had to pay ($150) to replace it and put the putrified food in the trash. However, I spent over an hour on the phone to Whirlpool, talking to five different people who switched the call forth and back, four of them telling me our warranty had expired last fall. Fortunately again, I had found a Whirlpool offer of a discounted extended warranty, which clearly stated that all the appliances were warranted until May 31, 2016. It gave the model and serial numbers for each appliance.UNFORTUNATELY, the offer arrived while we were wintering and before the post office started forwarding the mail. I could not get the discount and the regular price is very steep indeed. Then there is the basic fact: a major appliance which costs a considerable amount, yet dies before it has been used even a single year. The warranty otherwise would be a cruel joke. The refrigerator has been in service less than a year and was never opened for three months of that.In comparison, our previous refrigerator was running perfectly when we moved and had done so for 25 years. The new Whirlpool might have run another month, leaving us to pay for the repair out of pocket, probably $300.
Tall and Slender perfect for our kitchen

I bought this two weeks ago and have loved every minute of it, its flush mount built, allows more passing room around in the kitchen.
EXCELLENT refrigerator and EXCELLENT experience
from Howardwick, Texas
I have owned several refrigerators over the last 40 years and this one is the most refined and complete machines I have ever owned. It does make some noise, but the ice maker is quite proficient, the controls are quite complete and easy to read. Shelf arrangement is quite adequate but could use one or two more levels to make adjustment more versatile. I picked white counter depth because of limited clearance because of an island in the kitchen and the other appliances in a new house.Size matters and this refrigerator is big. My wife and I were amazed by the room in the freezer and refrigerator. We were looking at buying an upright freezer to supplement our needs, but with additional size this unit provides, no need to. Lighting in both sides is bright and helps show what is in the refrigerator. I sure am glad I got the model I did, and could not be happier! Whirlpool delivery was flawless.

We got our new refrigerator last month and couldn't be happier. It has many nice features like the LED interior lighting and the fast feature on the ice maker.

Mutiple issues, less than 2 years, don't buy!!!
from Savage, MN
Multiple issues on this 2 year old fridge. Do not buy it!!!The exterior stainless steel doors rust in sporadic locations. According to a quick google search, it is a widely known issue that Whirlpool has not addressed. We have never used abrasive cleaners, only wipes that are made for stainless appliances. We use them on all of our stainless appliances. The fridge is the only one that now has 10+ areas of pitting rust. It continues to spread! What the heck? Secondly, the ice maker stopped working at 16 months. First it was just the auger that stopped turning...which was inconvenient but not the end of the world. It still produced ice, but we had to open the door and pull ice out instead of having it dispensed. Now it has stopped producing ice altogether. We had the repair guy out today. Apparently, the motor for the auger and the actual ice maker are not receiving power and longer. The certified tech said it was either the main control board or bad wiring somewhere from the control board to the ice maker. For a small fortune, we can try putting in a new board. If the new board doesn't work, we will then know it is a wiring issue. If it is a wiring issue, we will have paid for a new board that was not needed, and we are out of luck completely on the wiring issue. Part of the wiring is sealed within the freezer door. A new freezer door costs nearly as much as the fridge. Part of the wiring is sealed in the back of the fridge. It is impossible to open the seal without breaking the fridge, because the back is a sealed system. But it does keep our food cold...just don't put anything the top shelf of the fridge because it will freeze. Thanks for the 1 year warranty Whirlpool! You timed it perfectly! What a joke.
The Ultimate party fridge
By Nick the Dorf
Being an avid fan of beer, wine and tea this fridge provide perfect temperature. If you're like me and love you beers right before they start having ice chips then this is the fridge for you. It also has adjustable shelves so you can fit kegs and snack trays super easily. The ice cubes are great because they stick together in you glass and don't dilute you drinks. Best fridge I've ever had by far! It's also super easy to fit in your home because of how slim it is.
Have had it for two years now. Could not be happier. Beautiful finish. Works like a champ.
Beautiful and Functional

My wife and I bought our new stainless steel side by side fridge about six weeks ago. It has exceeded our expectations for functionality, appearance and efficiency. I especially like the easy access to the onboard water filter. Every detail down to the lighting has been thoughtfully designed and implemented.
